I hope, in spite of all the ups and downs that come with Christmas (artificially imposed, I might add), that you are finding nice, good, and great moments in your own way, with family and friends, or wherever you are and whomever you happen to be with, or not.
I know that Christmas, with all the hubbub, can be an uncomfortable time. For me, when I was closer to home, being asked to go to this and that, having to be so and where at such a time, sometimes knowing few of the people in wherever I went, and of course never knowing just quite what the customs might be, often left me a bit overwhelmed. Still, as always, I found a way to enjoy myself. I do and do not miss that. Then again, I already had my Christmas company and that did work out well. Still, being alone on Christmas can be hard too. In the Navy, we were alone but together. Here and now, it is Sam, Sassy, and me. Then again, they do not mind shorts, no turkey, and waking up at 10:00 or such.
Just wanted to wish all a Merry Christmas in any case. I am curious about what people are eating, anything special? They say an army crawls on it's stomach. I find that to be true for me as well, and more. My curiosity crawls on my stomach. Or, is it the other way around? I will never figure all of these things out! So, tell me about your food. Hmm, a food therapist? Be one or need one. Now, look at the plate of spinach, what food does it make you think of? *grins*
Merry Christmas! We had a spiral cut honey baked ham, sweet potatoes, salad, broccoli cheese casserole, with sparkling apple juice and for dessert a fruit tart.
ReplyDeleteWell, I was supposed to go to a friend's house for dinner (lasagna) but I've been fighting a cold. She's having surgery on Tuesday so I said I didn't want to bring my germs and begged off.
ReplyDeleteIn lieu of her lasagna, I made chicken nachos. Not exactly traditional but yummy none the less.
I ate them bundled up in bed while reading Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings biography.
A quiet day but perfectly fine.
D.C.,
ReplyDeleteNice and traditional, yet a bit different for Christmas? Then again, I like branching out myself. Still, sounds very good. It sounds rather high life, actually. But in the right ways. Cheers! Is it a gnome's, hobbit's, or dwarf's tale?
Jean,
Now, that is definitely not typical Christmas food! Still, for us solo artisans, it is what is good that counts. Hmm, come to think of it, I have never tried chicken nachos. I will have to give that a swing! Plus, with some hot stuff in it, and the chicken, I think it would be good for 'the bug', some of them anyway.
That is the author of whozitz, the wizard kid, right? I suppose, what I know of her life, you both have been through some tough times. Ever thought of writing your own books so that you can write a book about yourself? lols
She's mostly known for 'The Yearling' and 'Cross Creek'. Most of her stories were about Florida.
ReplyDeleteDied young (57)in 1953. Brain aneurism but helped along by heavy drinking.

ReplyDeleteWW,
ReplyDeleteGreat! No enthusiasm there, but I'll play along. :P Good to hear it!
Teresa,
Everyday, hereabouts, is Christmas. So you can never be late! I hope your Christmas and life have their share of blessings as well. God speed.
Jean,
ReplyDeleteAlmost missed your re-comment. You have talent, do you have the drive? That is not all it takes, but... it's a start.
