If you want a great read...

.
.
I enjoy reading. Fiction is not so much my thing anymore, too much of it is tied to the foolishness of what I like to call modernism (though modernism has been called that since Moses' time, and probably before, so it probably means more like todayism or something). Too much is about me, mine, our, us, fun, physical pleasure, what people can get for free, and such. However, I do enjoy people. Those who have gone through difficult times, who have been tried and found themselves in good places, and just listening to the lives of people, really. For some time, my cynicism did not allow me much kindness to people. Preferring animals, nature, and machines to people, I tried to live a private life. As God called, and as I approached, my world changed. Now I see those around me, and love them. Rich, poor, educated, ignorant, fat, skinny, or just average, people are precious. Each and every one is now a gift from God, directly to me as I see it. Not for my use, but to be loved as a glory. Perfect at it I am not, always simple about it I cannot be, but my effort and heart are there.

To that end, one who I read often caught my attention some time ago. Her story was very moving. In her hardships, heartaches, and trials, she has been and remains an inspiration to me. And perhaps her story and writing will grant you such notions. Here is the link to the writings that initially made me a friend to her court. Consider this a friendly brief to the court of man by an interested participant. Go, read.

I think I will try to sleep. I do not want to let a mistake ruin my efforts. I am still tired, so I have probably been pushing myself a bit hard. Good, since I am not dead. But it does mean my body will revolt. As it is doing. Still, a little pampering until I get up and going is far better than quitting.

I hope you are having a great weekend. Working or playing, fiddling, or tinkering, resting or sleeping. Enjoy and be well.

The dinner bell.

.
.
Some time in the not to recent past, I had the sense of women encroaching my area. I had thought this could be for the good, and sometimes it is. Just as often, however, women come in to attack or for whatever other reason witches can gather to do harm. I am never sure. I am not even sure if my senses are correct. They merely represent a gut feeling, or group of them, that lead me to a conclusion. If that sense has faded a bit, it has been replaced by a sense of anger from women. Aggression against me for what I have said or done.

Oddly, this is not troubling at all. As a fact, in my darker days, this was a good thing. Women who lose control of their emotions, in any direction or way, are vulnerable. The only emotion a woman can have which is to her advantage against me, or men in general if I have it right, is disappointment, sadness, or surrender, if they are genuine. Though she cannot use these so much as have them work in her favor. At least with me. No, anger, vengeance, and other red emotions simply make them easy to manipulate. Like fish in distress, it is a dinner bell for land sharks.

To that end, I really need to watch myself. For I am terribly hungry. And try as I might, my hungers are easily stronger than I am. So I am treading carefully these days. I avoid certain volatile women, along with those married women. For one, I think some of the anger is because I want children. Though I do not know these women well, I think in this small little place, they know me. I do not hide my intentions and as things go, word does travel. There have been several incidences which have helped me be more sure of my senses, but these incidences did not actually cause the underlying feeling of anger being directed at me.

Yes, I am being a bit cryptic. Then again, I think my system has been hacked locally, and I am read. I wrote something the other day, something I did not end up posting, and my next door neighbor changed her behavior immediately. Actually, while I was writing it. Yes, I am read, and locally. Ha! Of course, I realize there is no real security on computers anymore. Anonymity is only general at best. And even that can probably be undone quickly by someone willing to do little work. It did not help that they used the poorer wireless encryption method initially, when installing my system, in spite of my request. Something which is probably not a thing I can recover from simply. My move may make it difficult to find and then use my wireless, though I may still have something on this machine that makes it vulnerable in other ways. Besides, now that my name and blog are known, following that is simple as well. Nothing new, just irritating.

At least I am not a fish on a hook. hehe I am not wiggling and squirming and about to be et. I just have a couple of tics. I stand to pee, and produce my rights and strength, rather than hoping for another to do that for me. Okay, I am going to nap, try to cool the jets, and try to let the darkness fade. *snap* Something about blood in the water gets me all excited. Something I do attempt to avoid. I never said I was good, and as Christ indicated quite clearly, I cannot be good. I can only do my level best, and lose at that. Only through Him may I find the light. In spite of being as simple as falling off a log it is as tricky as finding a needle in a haystack, and all at once.

Oops.

.
.
I stayed up far too late. I did wake up and try to get going, but the engine simply would not light. I thought about napping a bit longer, to try to at least get over to Ogden. As I laid down to try and get to sleep, the people cleaning or painting my former neighbors apartment moved in and were as quiet and delicate as a jackhammer crew. No, no, I understand. It was daytime and they are several women with a man coming in once in a while to see how it is going. And, they do a good job. It was simply not a good time to try and sleep. So, though I did eventually actually get to some kind of sleep, the notion of a nap did not work at all. Here it is, 19:00, and I am just crawling out of the shadow of sleep. No real problem though. The rifle purchase may have gone a bit south, or is iffy at this moment. And the Ogden run can happen tomorrow, as it is not work. It is more the idea that days and nights have mixed again. I will have to see what I can do.

I tried the regular dried skim powdered milk and the can of condensed milk. I used hot water with the mix, added a can of the condensed milk, and then refrigerated it overnight. I did shake it a few times during the night, as I was cooking the beans, and then I shook before drinking it. I do not think shaking it other than before you drink it was at all necessary. It did not seem as though there was much settling. As for taste, it was not too bad. There were slight hints. But for someone who absolutely hates powdered milk, this was not bad. I would like to try the whole milk version though too, and experiment with the other types of canned milk. All in all, I think even if this is as good as it gets, it is worthy of the effort.

I am cooking rice as we speak. I will probably have a bean and rice dinner. Later I plan on using some of the reconstituted milk with warm rice to create a little desert. I would like to try this milk in as many ways as I can think to try it to get a better idea of how well it works in other things, cooking, and baking if I get to that. I just took a sip of the milk to see if there was anything I could add. It is this. When I first drink the milk, I taste nothing out of the ordinary. I only taste the artificial as an aftertaste. And, yes, that makes a huge difference.

It would be good to get to laundry. I am simply not sure I will get going in time to get out before things close. That is one thing I miss about Iowa, at least where I lived. You could find many 24 hour businesses, including laundromats. Still, for what I get, it is an easy loss. I think laundry is about the only service I have not been able to find in a 24 hour format. And, technically, it does exist. Here at the apartments and a few others. I just will not use those too late at night, as I think it is unfair to the people who live around those machines. Even if they did not know it was me keeping them awake, I would know.

Later than I had hoped.

.
.
I had planned to go to bed much earlier. But I got carried away in searching for some things and people on the internet. Then I realized I had to cook the beans! I have soaked them for more than 24 hours before, but they can easily become bad and even if they do not actually become rancid, they are really off and gooey or something. They certainly do not taste right, if they happen to still be useful. And, with me being on the road most of tomorrow, I would not be cooking them until late. So, cooking, I am, like Sam... the cook. I will try a bowl of them with a little cheddar cheese. Because I am not cooking rice as well tonight. That will be a job for tomorrow evening, or the night after. Once cooked, beans are good again for at least a week and maybe longer (if my memory serves).

I looked up the county in Idaho that is just across the boarder. Then I began a search for a number of my parameters. The housing there looks even less expensive and probably more rural. It is difficult to know, as some places did not have mapping tools available, or even an address I could plug into another tool. I have been pre-qualified and pre-approved before, so I do not think that will be a problem. Then again, you never know. But I am pretty sure if they can get you in a house, right or wrong, through hook and crook, they will. My job is to make sure I do not take too big of a bite. I know how much I can pay and how much I can afford. I am not willing to eat bologna sandwiches in a castle with a mote. Though I probably need to get all extra costs nailed down very well too, first. Utilities, taxes, insurance, expected maintenance, and a few other things that simply do not show up when viewing just the price of the house.

As I said, what I looked at in Iowa went from $650 a month payments to $1,000 and more a month through a bunch of things, not including utilities or anything else. I am not even sure insurance was in there. I never received a good answer for why the price, when configured through an amortization calculator at the list price and interest rate was raised to that level. I know D.C. talked about it, but I cannot remember if we came to a conclusion. When I called the dealer, I did not really get a clear answer. She was simply not telling me what was going on. I am still a bit nervous, therefore looking for a buyer broker. The closest sure one I have found is in SL City. I would definitely be out of his range.

Oh, I got the stuff to try the milk. I mixed up a batch, added the canned milk, and am chilling it now. I will probably shake it a few times while I am cooking the beans. I cannot wait to taste it. I made it normal strength, give or take. I did not have a one cup measure, so... I may have inadvertently added too much, as I guessed at 1 1/3 cup using a 16 ounce glass. Well, I am trying.

There was something I found while digging around in the LDS area regarding food storage. The notion that it is incumbent upon them to share. Not give their stores over to some freaky commune type thing, but to share. And, yes, I agree. Now, we cannot share with everyone, and some lines will have to be drawn. And, of course, there are types who might be taken in and types who would not. It is something I have not gotten to in my contemplation because at this point I have nothing to share except my shooting irons. And, I only share parts of the bullets from those. As I like to say, I will keep the brass, you can keep the lead. (Probably, if you die and were alone, I might dig that out too.) *evil grins* Well, if I had a supply of ammunition, powder, primers, brass, bullets, and such, I could trade as well.

Back to tinkering. It looks like I will be up until a little after 3:00. Not much sleep if I want to be on the road by 9:00 or 10:00, but it will have to do.

Good night.

Well, guess what?

.
.
As I said in comments, I did well today! I did everything on my list except laundry, but I did some extra things. This afternoon, I went to my neighbor's new apartment. He had just stepped out to head over to a store. Another 30 seconds and I would have missed him and 10 seconds earlier, I would have had to knock on his door. Ha! He was planning on buying an extension cord for his telephone. I figured we could do that before we returned.

And, well, yes, he thought, he would like to go shooting. So, he grabbed his .45 with the new parts, I already had my .22's, but we needed ammo. His stuff was at my apartment and he wanted new brass anyway, so we got some. I bought 3 more 50 packs for storage (up to 750, by the way). Shooting was great. His .45 ejected without a single hiccup except one failure to eject. Usually it had been stovepiping the last round from each magazine. As for me, my rifle shot well, but became cranky again. I know it is not oil, so it must just be the break in process. It shoots fine, it simply begins to lever as if it needs oil. I will just have to wait and see.

My friend thinks he would like to go buy a rifle, and look around Ogden, tomorrow. He likes the very rifle I like. At least I will get to try it out before buying one, sometime. So, it may be a longer trip tomorrow. I am happy to do that. I get the inhouse blues if I have not gotten out and stretched my wheels for a while. Though I would like to have passed through a place and on to Fresno, or vice versa, my wallet just does not agree with that notion at this time. This will give me something of a trip anyway. It is a good distance south of SLC, so it will be a good 8 to 10 hours when Ogden is included. Maybe a bit more. Good, I think my neighbor needs to get out and do something as much as I do. Sleep is better that way.

On our return, we stopped and got his cord. Then we went and had a late breakfast at a place called Angies. The first time I was in there, I was not so sure. It was not the food, which was fine, it was just a sense. I cannot say why but I felt a little uneasy. This time was great. The waitresses were cute (far too young, mind you, but cute (so definitely female, which is something I like... a lot)). But they were not stupid or fawning cute, they were hard working and right on top of things. The food was good, plentiful, and reasonably priced. Yes, I will go back. And, for all you localist nabobs, this is a local place if the owner has opened other restaurants too. :p Not only did our waitresses make sure everything was good, but the manager came by to ask. I like that.

After that, I got his bullets from my apartment over to his. It was quite a load. Think of three big boxes, made to hold 8 heavy glass bottles of whiskey or vodka or such, stacked to the top with plastic reload cases full of; 9mm; .38/.357; and the last box held .45 acp. And I do mean full, right to the top. Still, they were easier to carry than the 100 pound weights, by far. I think they weighed a little less, though I cannot be sure, but they were in a form that was much easier to carry. I did a couple of other extra things too, but I cannot think of them. Between the food and the ammo transfer, I decided to forgo laundry for the night. Tomorrow is out too. Drats, I do not work on Sunday unless it really is not a choice. So, Monday? Meh, it could happen. I still have a bunch of unders, so I simply do not care, mostly.

I am not sure my neighbor will like his new rifle though. It seems a bit heavy of a caliber for him to really want to shoot. I am almost hoping he hates it. It is too funny how my friends end up wanting similar guns. But it means I am in good company. His brother-in-law wants to take a crack at it when it is available. He hunts elk, deer, and such, or used to do so. His son still does, so he might want to check it out too. I know I want to shoulder a round or two as well. I do not think he is going to scope it, I know I would not. At least until I obtained a license which required me to hunt in flatter land or something.

I will do a bit of research regarding purchase agents (or whatever they are called) regarding home sales and see if I can track down enough information to track down some agents in order to speak to them next week.

Between the early rise, the workouts, the food, and such, I am going to be ready for bed a bit earlier tonight. I will take some Tylenol, preemptively. With four separate workouts I may be sore again. I actually like to be sore, if too I will take pain relievers. It means I have done something besides sit on my butt and tinker. Nice, nice, ouch, good.

Sleep well, or have a good day, or yeah. Blessings!

Almost.

.
.
I got everything done except the laundry. It IS in the vehicle. But I did do something that was not on the list. My tires were low, according to the vehicle. Someone suggested it was the cooling, but I do not think so. All of the tires were down 15 to 20 pounds. No, someone was messing with them. One tire, maybe two, down 5 to 7 pounds, sure. But not all of them down that much. If they fall again, I will have to take it in and check the seals or for other damage. I am about to visit my ex-neighbor and see if he wants to get out too. Oh, but I best clean and oil my rifle a bit. It sure got sticky. Odd, it was not really cold and it has not dropped below freezing in the apartment where it has been stored. *grumble*

It is good to be going again. The body is still a bit cranky but after those hundred pounders, everything else feels quite light and is not straining at all. I still have a number of weights to move, but I will save those for this coming week and over the whole of the week. I am actually taking care of things in a timely manner now. It is so very good to be willing AND able, when I am that is. I even did something else extra. While I was preparing to shower, I decided to clean the tub and toilet. I do like that to be clean. Once a week or so, if not on Saturdays or Wednesdays as I thought I would plan. Just when I notice and have the time, at the same time. Whatever, as long as it gets done often enough that I do not get too annoyed.

By the way, I am totally ignoring the latest Quota Boy quota material. It is covered everywhere and better than I could or would. I did not need more evidence, but it seems it keeps rolling in. I will not even comment on it. The story is it's own comment.

Well, off to see to the rifle then go out for a bit of sport. Have a great day!

I think I can.

.
.
After spending a good part of this morning waking up, I am finally awake! I did a few tasks I had hoped to do, but mostly tinkered. One of the things I did was to add a few blog links I have been meaning to add. There are some I am meaning to remove as there has been no activity on the blogs. I am slower about that than I am about most things.

Next, I will try to locate the number for the LEO and give him a call, then pay a bill I almost forgot about, and then do some laundry. I am up for it today. If need be, I will then again take a nap. Switching days and nights is not easy and even when I do it, naps are good things if I can keep them short. Turning on the heat for a bit should help too. I have electric heat, for the most part, but the inset a/c can also be used for heat and really does jump start the process as I only keep the electric heater near my bed on, and on low, full time. The electric heat suffices to keep me from simply freezing, and being right next to my bed, it works perfectly for low activity levels.

Everything in my life is experimental, at this point. And, with the upcoming move, I will be starting all over again. The rigors of home ownership will be allayed, a great deal, by some sense and reality of permanency and regularity. As well, I will be able to set my house up just as I please, within financial constraints. However, with a little creativity and elbow grease, and having a great deal of free time, what I can do to a home is limited more by imagination and skill than by anything else. I am getting excited about the prospect.

One of the shorter term goals to that end is finding a buyer's agent. I am not sure what they are, technically, called. Both understanding definitively what this type of professional is, does, and costs, then locating several to interview in the hopes of getting one on-board, is my next short term project. I hope to have one of these people ready for when I begin looking. Who knows, they might suggest I begin looking at housing sooner rather than later though I am not sure that is wise as I would hate to get set on something I will not be moving into until May, or seeing something and setting my heart on it only to have it disappear. Maybe that is why they want you to look early, so that it becomes less of an emotional and more of a logical (if that is possible with a home) process.

Well, I best get going. When I load up the laundry, I will add at least 4 or 5 boxes to take to the storage unit. Today is a great day! It is nice to be ready to use it.

Up and at it again.

.
.
Today is a new opportunity. I am still a bit cranky, bodily, but no where near as bad as yesterday. Plus, Wednesday's workout seems to have set the stage for a rekindling of physical form. Today may or may not be the day to function again, but I will give it a go if I can. A few boxes to the storage unit, laundry, and making some calls this morning. Then it, if I have it in me or if my neighbor calls, a trip to the range this afternoon.

It looks to be a dark but lovely fall day. Perfect for going to the range up the canyon to my way of thinking. My rifle is so spot on I think will take my .22 pistol today, along with the rifle. I might stop at the local ammo spot and pick up another 100 rounds of .45 acp. I am up to 6 or 7 hundred rounds, but would really like to get to 2,000. Then when I get my AK ammo up to 2,000, and have another couple of rifles, then that ammo up to 2k, then push the .45 up to 4k, maybe all of it. Bit by bit is the only way to fly. I have plenty of high velocity .22 ammo, it is the standard that is difficult to keep in stock, as I use that extensively for target practice currently. None of my .22's are sighted in for high velocity, and really, they cannot be. None of the adjustments on any of my guns go up enough, so shooting it is always a bit of a challenge. So, I am shooting it off while I plink and will begin storing the standard velocity (and subsonic when I get to that as well) as I find reason to go the the towns that carry the standard velocity (I will have to order the subsonic though, I have seen it nowhere locally). I nearly have a case of shotgun ammo. Some of it is lead, some of it is steel, and I have some double ought buck. All of it is reasonably good for some sort of hunting or self defense at close range. I will not be buying sabot or slugs for it, as a rifle is a ton better in that department. Even a .45 is better and has that kind of range, with a little practice, without that kind of kick. It is simply the best for hunting bird though, and not at all bad for a second home defense item.

Later today, or over the weekend, I will begin sorting my survival bookmarks. Food here, land ideas there, and so on. Bit by bit, my research is falling in line. One thing about survival, it is very custom. What I might want or consider a need, others think (and technically correctly) that the object or food is a want. But that is true of all who wish to be prepared and work to that end. So long as one does not get too distracted that way, the idea will still work. For example, milk for me, simply has no substitute. Now if I demanded something that requires refrigeration and a freezer to be maintained, and then had to build a power supply around just that, I could be in serious trouble. Or if I wanted extreme air conditioning plus it's own power supply, it might be trouble. If you add both, you would be creating a non-mobile structure which would be difficult to manage, and perhaps it might make it unlikely you would move out when too much trouble comes. Just saying... some luxury is good, too much will either be too much to prepare for, eat up too many resources for real necessities leaving you cool and starving for example, leave you immobile, or cause other bads.

Here is a link I think more people should read. It is quite an interesting tale. It certainly does get one to focus on need, practicality, and survival. It was a fun read. Written by a poet? I think not, much better. Written by a man who has been there and done that. And, no, there are no monsters or bogeymen, again, better.

At first I thought it was a cloudy day, but it looks like the sun is coming up just now. I have the mountains in the way, I am not tracking sunrises and sunset currently, and I am used to Iowa's timing and look, so I am often wrong here. Great day for a fall run, as I said, part of the reason for a run up the canyon. I might have to take a drive to Ogden tomorrow, to look for standard velocity .22 ammo and for the fall scenery. I bet my ex-neighbor is ready to go for a drive too. An easy Saturday get off the chair thing to do. After a few more boxes or weights go over to storage as well. Always bit by bit.

Have a great day!

Nothing, nada, and such.

.
.
I beat myself up pretty good yesterday, if I did get some things done. I have done nothing today, literally. Well, except for a well needed nap. hehe I simply am too weak. The aspirin helped, but it was not enough. On the good side, I did keep the nap to an hour or two, and I will be staying up until 23:00 or so again tonight. When I am able, I will be ready to get out and do what I need to do. I tried caffeine, heat, and small amounts of food to try and get the engine going. I even went out on the 'porch' and soaked in the beautiful fall day. The engine simply would not turn over. More aspirin and a good nights sleep again, and I will try tomorrow.

Well, I have been doing some things, if nothing on my list. Looking at available houses of the more rural, secluded, and propertied nature has been ongoing. Researching powdered milk has been one of my activities. Oh, and I happened to look up home made cheese making. Retten seems to be easy to find, and I have even heard that it often is on regular grocery stores, or may be. Next, I might investigate goats. Seriously. For meat, milk, and... well, that is it. *This... Is... America!* Hmm, though I have heard they make decent lawnmowers.

Much of my purchasing has to wait a bit, for long term storage anyway. I can probably get the 5 gallon buckets, the desiccants, and some other easy to store materials, depending on how bulky they are and how well they store in unheated storage. And, that should begin this next month if I like what I see within my constraints.

Now, the thing about serious survival and being out on one's own, is security. There are dogs, but dogs have no chance against guns. Keeping what you kill seems to be a typical new world order educational point. While they have banned Christ (or try, good luck with that one), they have introduced the notion of survival of the fittest, which merely comes down to survival of whoever shoots first and takes whatever and makes sure no one else has guns. Then again, living right in a city, large or small, has it's own problems. Like I have suggested, this is LDS country, so many of them do store food too. The problem is, only half of them are church going (or affiliated anymore), and only some portion of those really stock up. Even so, on that basis, this is a better area than most. I keep going over things, and I think, even if it is a short term thing, life will become quite tribal. If you have lived wherever you are for a long time and are considered a "good son", you might have a place, and you will be fed from those who are not "good sons" if you did not store food. Bad sons, wherever they live, city, town, or country, will merely be targets. And, of course, lawlessness will also exist. Though the difference may actually be negligible to whoever is not a good son. This is where family comes in.

Anyway, while I do the little that I do accomplish, this is on my mind, among other things. Blogging, both reading, posting, and commenting, give me something I can do as well. Most people, however, lead very busy lives. My posting has really picked up here. Since I moved, I have been posting nearly every day and up to three times a day or more at times. I do think this is a sign of improvement, if a minor one. I wish people could play more, or I could get out and work more, but this works until one of those becomes true.

Dinner time, I do believe. I am going to soak some beans tonight for supper tomorrow. Along with rice. I would like to taste them without anything to get an idea of what might make for interesting additions, additions which could be stored longer term.

Have a great night!

Pleasant sleep.

.
.
I did not sleep as long as I had hoped, waking at 4:30 or so. But sleep was good. I should be able to be awake and going by the time I had planned to just be waking up at 6:30. I might do some laundry first thing this morning. Then try and find the phone number to get going with getting my CFP, or at least my gun rights back. Then, perhaps, I will do more packing and move more boxes over to storage. I also want to get the Xterra cleaned out and probably have it cleaned inside really well after I finish clearing the apartment.

My new glasses are wonderful, if they tend to slide down my nose. While I am out and about, I may look for a glasses dealer. They will usually adjust them for free. Even a nominal charge would be fine, though where I come from it is usually just something they do free. My blurry vision is completely gone, at least when I can keep them up on my nose! And they look a lot better. The VA has started offering some relatively nice spectacles. Why some parts of the VA work like clockwork and other parts fail I cannot be certain. Though I think my primary care problems stem from a particular doctor, one doctor, my last doctor.

If I have always had to struggle for care, and struggle with medicinal plans which had negligible effect, or worse, I have usually been treated fairly. That has changed. I am not the easiest patient at this time. I have learned to distrust and second guess my doctors. And, many medicinal treatments do not work for me. Which, it seems, is my fault rather than something to take a closer look at by the doctors. So far, other than eye doctors getting me good glasses and dentistry doing what it is allowed to do to the extent it does so, none of my ailments have been treatable by the VA in conjunction with real efforts on my part.

So, I am simply going to have to watch out for myself. Eating right and being active are the keys. Both are complicated by an underlying exhaustion, a sever exhaustion which anti-depressants simply fail to solve. Which leads me to the belief that it is not depression, rightly or wrongly. Being active helps, for a while, but that part of the cycle does return. I have been doing a lot better in Utah though. The dryer climate, altitude, or maybe just the belief that I am in a safer more realistic community and that I have actual access to reasonable things to do must be a part of it. As well, that some of my dreams, such as real hopes for home ownership, hunting possibilities, seeing women who are available and viable, owning pets and a horse, and simply enjoying the mountains cannot be bad. My downtimes have been relatively short as I work through weather changes and such. Every downtime I have had has been caused by something, initially the high heat, then medicine (going on and off it), and then the quicker cooling and loss of sun than that which I am familiar. And yet, each fall has been short other than the medicine. And, I have picked myself up and dusted off, to get going again far quicker than I have in the span of my illness, or 20 years or so now.

I am a little stiff and sore. Moving my weights, helping my neighbor, and shooting all in one day would tend to do that anyway. But added to the fact that I have been nearly immobile for a week to two must have added to that. A few aspirin or Tylenol should fix that for the moment. A few things planned today has given me something to focus on in digging out of this most recent, and most likely weather related, fall. Oh, two other things are planned. Going to one or both of the Churches, as is needed, to look for "work" and while I am there, seeking a Catholic book outlet, local if possible. They often call these stores Mustard Seed, from the parables I am sure. Though I am reading through the New Testament again, the bible I have has little in the way of study material. And, I would like to get going on learning and then saying the rosary, now that I have my nightly prayers down to a degree.

There are a few independent things I would also like to begin doing, or again, as well. I really do need to begin independent studies in preparation for school and I would like to figure out how to put Linux on this machine. I have gotten some good tips from Daniel, and I did some online research last night regarding the particular distro of Linux he has suggested. While looking for what all to download, for my particular device, I ran into people having lots of problems. So, I followed these threads until I hit upon solutions. Wi-Fi and sound were the two that worried me the most, and I found the solutions. I will print these, and other tips, tricks, and hints about installing and getting started so that I have hard copies in case I cannot get online. I do have my other computer as well, but it is very buggy (plagued by hackers, really). And, I may have to do the additional work of first making this machine primary and making that auxiliary on my ISP first. Though I am not absolutely sure about that.

So, I have many things to do. Perhaps too many all at once. But, as time progresses, I think I will get through this, that, and the other until my ducks are in a row. If I can get to a quarter of those things in the next two weeks, I will be good with that. If I can at least begin most of those in the next month, I will be quite pleased. Time will tell. Oh, and that does not include things like hiking, fishing, and shooting. Yeah, it does seem like a lot, but it is all viable. If you fall into thick mud, it is first figuring out how to not sink, then figuring out how to get to solid ground and then out. It is a dirty job if I am looking forward to it. I still think I have a great(er) chance now.

Have a great day!

I have done well.

.
.
After that last blog, I did get to the house of the sister of my ex-neighbor in time to be helpful. And, so, I helped. The work was rather quick and simple, if the stairs, turns, and the need to duck because of low ceilings made the process more interesting. Afterward we went out shooting. My rifle began to action stiffly, so I put her up. His pistol had a problem as well. It ended up being a good shoot anyway. It has been several weeks since we have been out shooting. On my drive to drop him off, we stopped at the store and he bought some things he needed. Initially I was not going to purchase anything. I remembered reading, somewhere in survival blog, about using a trick (I think using cold water and storing the milk 18 hours in the fridge or other cold or cooler spot) and an add (canned condensed milk) together with powdered milk to develop a better, or what they termed more like a "regular" milk taste. I am dubious, but should one be reduced to powdered milk, it is worth a shot. The author also suggested powdered milk could be used to make cheese! Anyway, after we completed the shopping, I drove him to his place, helped get his stuff in, and then headed home.

Really, it was a good day. I did a lot of work, a little business, helped a bit, and had some fun. What is not to like.

I checked my glucose level, in spite of having eaten 6 hours ago or so, having had a regular soda a few hours ago, having eaten at McDonalds and Burger King (with super sized double 1/4 pound (or whopper) meal deals, with the supersized Coca Colas), and having eaten three steaks last night, it was only 186. You know, I think someone does not understand a thing about diabetes. I am not saying I do, I am saying many who say they do simply cannot. Oh, and at lunch, I added regular sugar to my coffee, 3 packs for each of my two cups, plus double shots of creamer. And my new glasses came today. Vision had been blurry, but I was chalking that up to humidity. Wearing the new glasses, I can change that theory. My eyes did not improve one little bit, they improved a ton! And more, my vision is correctable to beyond 20/15 or is it the other way around? In spite of being quite blind and myopic is it? Go figure.

Tomorrow I cannot say what will really end up being done. I will go to bed early tonight, or try. I will set my alarm. And I have some plans. The LEO trainer needs a call. I would like to visit the Church, poking around about this and that. Perhaps getting my next load ready for the storage unit. And, I do not know. Other stuff. My brain is in retreat and my body is a bit sore, all in good ways.

I hate hotdogs, mostly. And bologna. I do not know why, and I have tried to find a way to like them. It is not the ingredients which trouble me. It all sounds good to me, and I do not mind watching them mix the stuff. Something about the taste. It is the taste sensation equivalent to the sound of fingernails scratching a chalkboard (or for me, metal scraping teeth or the opposite). Still, I bought some. I am not sure if I am trying to deprive myself, if I am trying to strengthen my resolve to survive by getting used to things I do not like, or if I am just off it a bit. Okay, give me a buy on the last and we can negotiate the rest. Well, they are boiling as I write. I will then fry them and enjoy it as I may. Who knows, maybe I will even watch baseball someday. Well, considering how much hotdogs and such cost as such events, it spoils my already lackluster appetite, which does that project no good at all.

I have got to eat and then crash. So tired.

Good night, hopefully.

Darn tootin'!

.
.
I got my first load of weights, the 4 one hundred pounders, to the storage unit this morning. I rearranged the place a bit so that I can see myself clear to the other things I want to get there. I think I can get it all in. I may try to have the apartment cleared out, save enough clothes to fit in two suitcases a week before I need to move, then clear out, heading to a couple of places I have either been meaning to go or have recently been invited. It will cut into my savings, but I am better than good. I am flush, as they say, and a little driving and visiting the new extended neighbors might be good for the soul and spirit! Well, the West is rather expansive. Out here, 1,000 miles could be called neighborly, in some circles. Ha!

After seeing to the weight and arranging, I took care of another odd job or two. A check went to the bank and the utility bill was settled online. I love that. I then stopped for a bite to eat at Village Inn. I know there have to be other, local, places to try. And I will get to them. But for now, it was familiar and easy to find. Without sleeping, I am needing to push, and pushing does not give much room to creativity.

It is about time to head over to help with the furniture. I am not sure how much I will do after that, it depends on my (once) neighbor's interests. Shopping for sure, unless his sister wants to do that, shooting if he is not too tired, and then of course, home. I am going to try and stay up until 22:00, maybe 23:00, and then hit it. Tomorrow I will try and call the local LEO trainer and get that started with that unless the neighbor is too tired, then I will try that later this afternoon.

And, I have decided to go into my local church and see if they have any odd jobs. Not for pay, mind you, merely for the doing. I need to get off my butt or I will die on it. Plus, it would be a good way to get my feet wet with the Church. I really do need to attend. I know it. And I really need confession. Not that I have done anything big, but I have done a lot and it has been a while. It is good to let God help clear the baffles so I have fewer ghosts haunting my peripherals. I tell you, when I go into confession, I shake like a baby. I hope the priest does not see it necessarily, though I know God sees all. To me, I know who I am confessing too. It reminds me that hell is merely a turning away away from reality. I know, in that booth, that God is real and present. I will be terrified when I face Him, in the end, but if I do this here, in truth (and there is no way I could walk in there and lie), I think I will be good. Well, of course, if I follow it up in life and in prayer, and in the Eucharist. No, no, that is how I see it. If you have your own way, I am good with that, mostly. Ha. I was called, kicking and clawing, to where I am. If you are called elsewhere, be at peace.

Doh! Gotta run!

Pumpking pie, God speed, and graces!

I am not going to bed.

.
.
This has been my typical bed time. I think. I honestly have been confused and quite out of it lately. Anyway, I have decided to do whatever it takes to stay awake in an attempt to reset my clock and get back on some sort of regular routine. To that end, I am going to have to make lists and appointments of sorts. Friendly coffee outings, dinners, target practice, hiking runs, but with others and planned. I am not sure how to do this, ever, but I know it can and has worked. Staying up and being active can help, if they are no guarantees. I want to go hiking, darn it! Though there are a dozen other things, both fun and work, that I need and want to do. Wake up!

One of the things I did this evening was review some blogs. Some went into my "I want on my blog" bookmark section. I almost never put something right to my blog, other than those blogs I visit regularly through other blogs, and merely forgot to add. I like checking these blogs on a semi-regular basis (when I remember, ackh). I just like to, you know, make sure. I do not even mind if they happen to be slightly left of center, as long as they are reasoned or that politics is not their main point. I hate "liberalism", not liberals. Being arbiter of thought here, that is quite up to me and may not be or seem reasonable. Tough, as I said before, "Why?" is irrelevant. Oh, and I found a blog I had delinked. I delinked because the author said some things and delinked me. I must admit, I actually did not delink as retribution, I thought it was simply what she may have wanted.

In hindsight, I have decided to link her again. Reciprocity is not necessary, I never expect that. And, after reviewing her pages, I know why I linked her in the beginning. Of course, if she asks that I not link, I will follow her wishes. She is a fantastic writer and thinker, and a heck of a woman. I still do not understand the problem she had with my post. I can guess, but she never did say with any precision. But beyond that, if I feel compelled to write something, I do. That is simply the way of it. And, I speak my mind as well. No doubt, I have had troubles for it. I will always take trouble over biting my lip. Is it the Holy Spirit that moves me at times? I cannot speak for God, and I would not take that strong of a stance. What I can say is I have opened myself up to that and I sometimes could no more not write something than I could simply stop breathing until I died.

Anyway, there is a post from a bit ago that was linked from another sight I currently have linked, that I thought was important enough to put up. Since ladies, from time to time, are once again gracing my pages, I thought another lady could speak to them better than what a man could do. Much of the defense against men that women have built up, in their minds, and the games they play with men, will not work against other women. And, what she says is something every right woman should hear. This is a the beginning, click to read more if you are so inclined. Even if you are standing up or sitting down too. (Oh, and I did not think it was long OR long winded, and I am a ball baby about that stuff... "My... My eyes... I'm bored. Are we there yet?")

Home Security - Something all Families Should Read

This is probably the longest post I have written, and not the best, but it's one everyone should read. Someone I testified against, just got out of prison. Some threats were made. I'll be sitting careful, watchful, for the next few days. I'm used to it, but we all should be thinking along these lines. The world is changing, and not for the better.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heck, I need the reminder. Even as a giant, with a kind gentle face and nature to the good and a demon's demeanor toward the wicked, I forget about raw evil. I have seen it. I have fought it. I have been sorely tempted to become it. And still I can forget, I want to forget. Everyone who has faced it does. It should never be forgotten. At least when I am away on spiritual business not of my making, I still have the 'guard dog' at home. Even when the lights are off, having become a natural evil slayer means that some deep dark part of my very corpse can spring to action like a switch blade in a .45 caliber all over the place, with or without a gun handy.

And yet I know that is not always enough. Evil may usually seek the weak, but when it does not, it comes prepared. The only good thing is quite often what it thinks is equal is not. Slum sideways shoot your 9 and me and I will lay all of you out with my .45. No doubts, maybe even if you plug me a few times. I really have had worse. From my life though, I know even if good could and should win, all it takes is one little mistake, flaw, miss, or mere bad luck and the wolves will take even the best dogs. It is always just that close.

Bah, enough cheer for one day. I am off to do something. Hmm, the storage unit! I never did take my weights over or repack to get the rest of my stuff there. I bet there is a coffee house between here and there too! A breve sounds good right about now. Being cool as it is, I might be just go with a double, large, no ice. After I do some work, maybe breakfast. I will have to keep it minimal or I will not stay up long. Food does that to me, probably everyone who tries to stow away a couple pounds in a sitting. Bah!

Have a great day!

The landing.

.
.
It does look like I am coming in for a smooth landing. Back on terrible firm, out of the mists of Avalon or spiritual, mental, or whatever Shangri-La, is not always a happy thing but being away is not a happy thing either, always. I just happened to have the time, with little else needing to be done, so the world was not shouting and pushing and poking at me. It IS a nice place to visit, though I wish I could make reservations rather than just be relocated without consent. That is what is frustrating, and initially suicide inducing. You cannot run the race, let alone place, if you do not have feet!

I went shopping tonight. I had run out of... well, everything. I think I have been out for a while. I had thawed three ribeyes, and last night, I ate them all, plus a trip to McDonalds or some other place. I simply cannot remember. All I am sure about is that I was hungry beyond speaking, and the Sunday dinner reminded me that there is something called food. I thought, with my lack of activity and my consumption last night, especially since I had no ensuing b.m., that I would weigh a ton today. Cautiously and worried, I stepped up on the scale. I am 275. My weight fluctuates a bit. Last time I weighed, I was 283.5. In a less than two weeks, doing nothing, I have lost 8.5 pounds, and that after stuffing my face with... 5 pounds of food last night. Which means I have not been eating, or drinking, probably. Yes, I have been out there, getting a Zen tan.

I purchased a number of things that have been on my list, besides food. An ear thermometer, so I can track fevers better and more accurately. Both Aspirin (with caffeine) for fevers and pain, and Tylenol for when only pain exists, hydrogen peroxide (good for minor cuts and scrapes, but wonderful for ears (and lots of other stuff I do not yet use it for)), more combs, and a headset I am hoping will allow me to hear better on this little computer. The new headsets may not help at all, it may be that this machine simply has a poor audio board or system.

Oh, I also picked up an 8 quart stockpot with a steamer mini-basket and a deep pasta basket. I could have looked for my good gear (though this suits my high standards, actually), but I would have had to dig through mountains of boxes, and I think the smallest I have is my 16 quart Al-Clad stockpot (with the same set up as this one). This one even has the triply base. I would like to have pasta occasionally, and beans and rice. I simply miss the pasta, if I have to have that as only a weekly meal due to the carbs. But spaghetti and meat sauce, tuna casserole (which I never put in the oven, ptuhhey), or even simple macaroni and cheese (if I do cheat and add fancy spices and use whole whipping cream for that creamy edge), I need and love pasta. Beans and rice are something D.C.'s efforts keep leading me toward, and they are something I natively enjoy as well. And, to that end, I bought a pound of each. Soaking dry beans makes the best beans out there. And rice completes the protein (or so they say, I think it is a bit skimpy that way, so add cheese often). Beyond buying the little ones, I bought my first larger items. I purchased a 20 pound bag of (long grain white) rice, and an 8 pound bag of pinto beans. Next I will probably need to begin buying buckets.

To be honest, this first purchase is more of a short term thing. I want to see how to parse this out, how well it keeps while I attempt to use it, and how much one can reasonably eat before beanearitis breaks out. I am truly curious how long and well a bag of beans and rice will last and how creative I can get with it. Oh, I will be trying many things. I would guess that canned meats, with this, would be a real winner. If too, we are going to have to radically change our taste in food. I think people would be surprised how simply and cheaply they can really live, and mostly happily. But, then, that is not how we are built. That is not just us, either. From the amoeba to the fly to the mouse to us, we all try to get the maximum gain for minimum effort. That we have gotten to the point where the poor are fat and the rich are thin is just a measure of the grotesquely absurd filthy richness (which, generally, I approve within some constraints) we enjoy in America. Never let them tell you they can fix, and if they tell you it needs fixing, shove them into the ground and drive them into it with road pavers. What they are saying is, "Hey, these guys are really rich, how much do you think they will let us steal from them, offering them nothing, often less?".

Now, if you think we are evil for being successful, move your ass to Africa. That is about the only continent that is poor, and seems to want to remain so, actually. Well, some of them. Though it does seem if someone goes there, works hard, and begins to make a living, they are driven out and everything they have is stolen, or they are raped and murdered, and often bits of both. However, if you are murdered there for your money, your guilt will be expunged and I will not have to worry about you creating the same thing here. Europe is attempting to bring a mix of Hitler and Stalin back, thinking the bureaucracy will save them from both the excesses of a dictator, the poverty of socialism, and war while preventing an actual dictator from moving in. They simply do not seem to understand that an overweening bureaucracy is the best of all stepping stones for such. They have or are destroying their economies to the point someone will simply HAVE to step in. Ha, what a lark. This has been their plan since before the WWII American dead were all buried. It was probably in their collective little psyches before Berlin fell. Heck, was that not their intentions in WWI, and even earlier? No stopping lemmings when they get their little peckers in play I guess. At least Japan seemed to have learned, so far. Though I really think if they could shed socialism and feminism, they might be in for a stunning future.

Oh, right. Rambling again. I have not quite landed. Maybe tomorrow. I have two or three tasks, one of which is to help my neighbor move into his own place! I am so pleased for him. And, it is right where he had hoped it would be, right near the stores he shops and across the way from the main local bus hub. They have moved all his other goods, but want me to help with the couch and bed. I wish they would have called me, but there is not a lot of stuff to be honest. Or at least, not a lot of heavy stuff. Now that he is on his own, I will have to go bug him a couple a three times a week. Once he gets moved in, I will make sure to get him to the store this first time. Otherwise he might pull a zen himself. He is simply too thin to be doing that, and physically ill to boot. No no, he will have food if I have to buy it. We might even go shooting, if he is not too done in. He replaced some parts in his pistol and wants to take it for a test run. I need to get out and do some target practice anyway too. And I had best call and see if I can reschedule a shoot for my hunter safety certificate.

I also need to get back in touch with the local LEO and get going on the gun thing. I did not so much let that slide as simply drifted off. I really want to get my CFP (ccw), both for carry (in many states) and for ease of firearm purchase (otherwise, even when you can make a purchase, it costs $7.50 every time, to the state, for a background check). I have about 3 guns on my list. Of course, I am rather frustrated with that, too, at this time. A .308 has been a long time goal, but it is a bit of a light load for going into bear country, brown bear anyway. Since I can reload, with some powder in storage in a safe box, and the reloading consumables beside that in storage, I am good with something like the .338 Marlin (and probably no more expensive than a .308, if I could probably trade beans or junk silver for .308 almost anywhere I might go but not for .338 Marlin). I will probably end up with both (though I want a .308 which can handle the higher pressures of the 7.62x51 NATO round for sure). Some rifles can take either, and the higher pressure of the NATO round, though not even close to all of them. I think the .338 will be first though, since that will be my primary and preferred hunting rifle (well beyond a mere bush gun though it carries like one, it has a point blank range out to 250 yards) and a very fast repeat shot, only beat by autos, which are often a bit heavy and clumsy in the field comparatively).

Doh! I kept on rambling. Time to take a breather.

Good night.

Talking to God.

.
.
I do this, as is my way, and often. Quite often I must seem as a purring kitten seems to us. Sometime in the past, my first word was "why". Why this and not that? Why here and not there? Why him not her, them not us, You not Him? Why, why, why? Then something changed. I was not sure what it was at the time and I only have hints of it now.

The question "Why 'anything'?" means nothing. That is part of why. Things, people, places, fundamentals, even formulas simply are. Why am I ill? There is no why, I merely am. That is the way of all reality. There are no secrets or tricks to getting from point A to point B. You either walk, ride something, drive, or fly from those two points, or you do not. Why simply has no meaning in the grander scheme of things. Though, there are uses for the word, within reasonable learning. As with all things, moderation is key. I would say one needs far greater use of moderation regarding the question "Why?" than in the use of strong drink or wine.

The difference between successful people, from what I have seen, is the understanding of what I just wrote. Those who can accept that it does not, fundamentally, matter why but do go on to an understanding of what, or more precisely what is, live a very good life. Boundaries are real, limits are measurable and concrete, and tomorrow follows today. If too, there can be cracks caused by knowing wrongly and discovering a new truth, this is also a good thing. And, of course, there are those who know to a point but will not a step further go. But the ones who cannot get beyond "Why?" are the far inferior.

Those who need an answer to unfairness, lack of justice, differences, and variabilities will always be waiting for some answer from their peers, the government, or God. And they will be waiting, and whining, their whole lives. A wasted lot. Those who see those same things, yet pick themselves up after their butting of heads with these things, and begin to become a part of the solution in earnest, even should they never succeed, are the only heroes I know.

Of course, those who are not in the least perturbed by injustice and such need not apply. If they are happy with whatever comes to be, so long as they can now finally be proud to be American, they have no place in an honest good world view. There are many who are pleased to simply not be a target, until they are finally targeted. And, in that darker world view, all will someday be targets.

Did I ever mention, I sometimes have difficulty making friends? *grin* Yes, I am still out there. But this bubble popped while I was doing something on the computer and out there looking around. I liked it so thought maybe I could post it. I did not get it exactly right, but it is as close as I get for the moment.

*poof*

Interesting reading.

.
.
My health is not the best at the moment. I am not physically ill, or as most understand illness, I think, or as far as I know. It would be best described as a bad case of accidental transcendentalism. Perhaps I should describe this phenomena. Have you ever been driving a long distance, or been doing anything for a longer period of time, and suddenly felt disconnected with your body? Have you ever felt as if you were merely looking through the eyes of another, with no physical, emotional, or spiritual attachment? It is pretty much like watching a movie filmed as if from the viewpoint of the subject of the movie. You see hands, you see the people met, you see trees, but there is simply no other sensation other than hearing if that is sometimes iffy too as some of sound is felt. You do not feel the breeze, you do not smell the flowers, you do not sense the keyboard.

If it stopped there, I think I would be better. But it does not. While I am away from the office, so to speak, my capacity to understand input is also damaged. Reading can be terribly afflicted, as the material is taken in by my eyes and sent through a long tunnel to a place where such things of the world have little connection with who and where I am. Still, I try. I can see patterns and designs in the words, and either like or dislike. And, from there, if I like and accept it as potentially viable or interesting, it turns into song and is reviewed in that manner. Some things, of deeper meaning, are more difficult to truly understand or even completely accept. But, if they fit with song, they are enjoyed. Now, what I mean by song is not that I literally sing it in my mind, but grappling with the material is akin to trying to put it into lyrics and fitting it to music, simplifying in one way, complicating it in another, but by different rules than most understand. I merely use music as a medium more might understand.

Ah, this must be leading somewhere, right? Yes, it is. I have been reading Mailvox: God detests you and loosely following some of the other topics of this line. Not everything written do I agree with, to be certain. I am more dogmatic, believing rather more literally. And, of course, the atheist is not even within my hearing. Partly because I am pretty sure I do not believe in his good faith questions. Or, more simply, I do not believe his questions are indeed in good faith. At best, the conversation seems to be a lab experiment, soullessly sent in boredom by the one with questions. I could be wrong, it has happened before. But the answers, in my current state, are rather interesting. So, I hum and figure, enjoy or sometimes not. But it is something to do while I float above it all. So, I thought I would share it from my weightless, gateless, windowless, void.

Oh, too, if my comments at your blog seem off, just understand. I really am out to lunch, dinner, breakfast, pasture, whatever. I never know when these will come or go. And my interaction with the world at these times is a little... different. As well, emotion and logic are not quite the same where I am. Sympathy, empathy, reasoning, and such simply are not the same here. So, please pardon.

I have booked a flight back this evening, but there might be a twilight zone storm, so, who knows. Until then, I will hum about you. Perhaps I will even sing if you have light in you.

Have a great... whatever!
