I was out, putting the ducks in. I had planned to change water for the rabbits while at it. I could barely get the ducks in, with water and food, and closed up. Absolutely frigid. I got one of the waterers down and in, but could do no more. I didn't want to go out again, until I warmed, but I had to see the temp. It was about 18 (F), with a light occasional breeze to wind.
That's crazy. Warmly dressed and with socks on, that shouldn't have fazed me. It is a bit dry, but not exceptionally arid. I have been out there, in similar conditions, at 15 F, and had no problems without socks (for short bits). There must be something wrong with me. Ah! When my body is repairing from solid damage, I can be more susceptible. Still, that's... crazy.
I'm trying to warm up a bit, then will replace the rest of the waterers. As soon as those thaw, I will refill them for a later exchange. I have to wait until Monday to buy more waterers, if possible. Have to check my account first. I've spent a goodly chunk of change this month, with some carryover from last month. So... yeah... I best check. Though even just a few more would really help. A few larger ones, a few mediums too if possible. If I have four small ones, which I think I do, that will be that for those.
Oh, I need to see about a small angle grinder, to put the feeders in from the outside. Having to open the cage, to check and add food, is a bit of a risk. The rabbits don't seem interested in escaping, but... as with men, women, children, and any other critter, odd behavior just happens. As well, I need to create wire mangers, and possibly a more permanent 'holster' for the waterers... maybe a general size of holster which will fit two different sizes of waterers? One could hope.
Bleh. I'll keep trying. Oh... best cover them with the tarp as well. Over night, the tarp, I am told, is required. Or they will die, or might. I'll... take the advice to heart. I don't know them all that well yet. But I like the critters. Beside being stock, I like to think of my critters as sorts of friends. Their general and specific care is the least I can do. Will it eventually drive me to distraction? Of course. That is family. Meh. :)
I had a bite to eat. I think I need to turn the furnace up a bit. As well, put on a housecoat or jacket... maybe both! So cold seeming, in spite of the mild weather. Oh well. I'll get it fixed. Later.
