Hammocking.

.
.
A new idea for how to hang.  Worth the trouble?  Maybe.  Worth the price?  Already in fairly deep.  The question, however, is when.  Not this month.  Maybe next.

Whoopie slings?  Sounds fun.  Sounds... more fun than it actually is.  But... that's... a whole other theoretical thread?  Perhaps.  Vids.

Up?

.
.
I'm pretty sure I am awake for a while.  It's still pretty warm down here.  Ah, that's why.  It's just down to 68 outside, with 58 percent humidity.  Indoors, it is 73/75 upstairs, but feels cooler, 75 in the main, 77 in this front room with 38 percent humidity.  I did leave the swamp cooler going.  Wanted to see if that would help.  And, that, I think, depends on the temp outdoors.  If it gets cooler, it could.  Strangely.  But if it only gets to 68, as tonight, so far, it's... not very pleasant.  The fan, alone, is best.  Though, perhaps, it is best even then.

After I wake, a bit more, after a coffee, maybe a bite, I'll get to clearing off the freezertop, cleaning it, and reset dishes.  And, maybe, start a load of laundry.  If I can get three small loads, I will.  Getting what I can to the clothes line.  I got some help, when the young men were over to do the rabbits, to get the clothes line tightened.  I would like to, perhaps tomorrow, get my bedding down, again, and airing and sunning.  Then, in a few days or weeks, try to get help tightening the ling again.  Eventually the line will stay taught, no matter what I do.  It is, actually, rather amazing cordage... the stuff they make for clothes lines.  I thought it would rot, out, in one winter.  Not even close.  Then I suspected it would snap, after my first or second tightening, but certainly this one.  Nope.  So... we'll... see just how well it works.  Though, next year, I'll bring it in, I think.

Sassy has been fed, her water is good.  I best check her litter box.  Right after I get my coffee brewed and stewed (adding cool water and some whole cream).  Then, come, sit, and maybe eat something while I wake and ponder the silly world.

It looks like the three items which were listed as being delivered tomorrow are listed as out for delivery today.  And I did get some things yesterday.  So... maybe they found my house again?  Dunno, will find out.  Best... get to... litter and coffee and breakfast.

I should get on back to work.

.
.
I have enjoyed a bit of relaxation.  It's fairly warm up here, to me, oddly, for whatever reason today.  It's 85, with 38 percent humidity... a bit elevated because I have the swamp cooler going.  And the regular fan.  Still, all good.

I don't know that I will work on the dishes.  Depends on how warm I feel the back area to be.  If it is cool enough, I will just get to it.  If I feel a bit pinched, I'm not going to push it.  I'm looking for volume, not depth, of effort.  I can get one, or the other, but not both.  Not today.

If it is too warm, or if I warm up too much while working out there, I will finish to a reasonable point, then go on up.  I am hoping to at least get the freezertop cleared and cleaned and the dishes reset.  Then I'll set an alarm of some sort upstairs, for an hour.  Going on up to finish the floor, and clear the other table a bit more.  One is set up for the new sewing machine, sewing kit of all sorts, and an ironing wool mat.  The other one I'd like to clear to get the cutting mat a station.  I don't have to clear the whole table, but I need half of it or so.  I am also looking at adding a smaller, or another larger, table, or two... for working with materials.  The main thing is the floor, the sewing stuff is partly on hold, but I wouldn't mind spending a bit of time setting that portion up.  Plus, it will be clearing and cleaning a bit.  So it's not just a single duty event.

Hmm... if I can get to the dishes being reset, I would then start a load of laundry.  Not sure what... I have two big white towels which would do, and some other whites to put in with it.  I think I have enough synthetics.  And, probably, enough colored cotton, cotton/poly.  To be honest, even after years of trying to study, I still... have no idea what I am doing in the laundry room.  Every woman I have know has thought me just jerking with them, but I really just don't know, can't figure it out from what I have read and seen.  I just... do my best and that is that.  As well, I am terrible at getting stains out.  I... have quit.  Though some of my shirts are very old.  There comes a time when stains no longer come out of some things.  Age sucks for everyone and everything.  Only God has that good.

Well... on to it then.

A few things.

.
.
I got to chores.  Happy bunnies.  Feeding them less, so they are always grateful for their daily.  But they are needing, and using, less and less water.  If their bottle is a third or less, though, I change it out.  As well, with some of them more exposed to the sun, later in the day, I have wrapped the tarp around, and battened it down a log leaning against their cage, so they have shade.  They kept being the heaviest drinkers.  Now that they have shade that has normalized.  Oh, I don't mind changing their water, but if they can be cooler, that is better.

The laundry was dry, this round.  So I brought those in.  After, I had a fatted coffee.  For some reason that pushed a second bm through this morning?  Weird.  I usually have two fatted coffees a day, so...  If I haven't had coffee in a while, it will... get things going.  But rarely after already having gone in the morning, and almost never when I am regularly drinking the stuff.  An odd one today.

My muscles are sore.  Everything I do sort of hurts, like little cuts in every muscle group are being hurt again.  It really reminds me of when I used to work out two to three times a week, heavily.  I was always in repair mode.  Always.  It always hurt.  And, for the last few days, it has been like that.  I... don't care.  I don't mind.  I'll keep doing what I can as long as I can.  As mentioned, I'll be slowing down this weekend, and on weekends in general.  But not stopping, unless I fall.  Falling isn't a choice.

A bit sleepy.  I may take a nap, if not likely this morning, perhaps this afternoon.

I am, currently, revisiting the quilt manufacturing video, the first one.  I'll probably look at the next one as well.  I'd like to get the ideas down.  And, then, in a month or three, begin working on obtaining materials.  I won't, most likely, go so light weight.  I don't mind a bit heavier.  To my mind, that goes to durability.  But, I'd like to get several variations in temperature capacities, allowances, or such... meaning more and less down.

Oh, something I have learned?  Don't buy waterproofed down, or even necessarily waterproofed nylon, for the ripstop.  I mean, you can.  But you will be paying a lot more for something that doesn't even last.  You can waterproof these things yourself.  Ah, yes, a vid for that.  Just... for you... all.

More about food.

.
.
Asking the right questions?  Another thing?  How much would that food weigh?  Well?  It depends on the calorie count density.  What?  I mean, if you are carrying food that is 150 calories per ounce, at 5k calories, that would be 33 ounces, or a bit over two pounds?  Right.  But if it is 100 calories per ounce, then 50 ounces or 3.125 pounds.  Ah... Now I see.  So... just going by "two pounds per day" really isn't the right answer?  Depends.

Foods for travel.

.
.
It isn't just hiking.  Having to drive, cross country, for one reason or another?  Hiking, of course, if you could even do that, but... let's just say you could, or had to, hike... camp.  Well, and to be honest, for right here at home.  Summers are hot.  Usually.  And, even if delayed, it will be getting hot at some point.  I don't think we are quite to zero summers.  Yet.

I have chia.  And I am slowly collecting other things.  I also have shredded, unsweetened, coconut for example.  I don't have cacao nibs, but they are on the list.  Hemp hearts are on the way.  There are other things I am looking into.  Currently, I am using chia seed for hot breakfasts, but have been thinking about making cold breakfasts, or general meals, with them.  In yogurt, kefir, even sour cream, soaked overnight, with hemp hearts, coconut bits, etc.

Hippie food?  Maybe.  I... don't care who invented it, or is known to use it, as long as it is nutritious in truth, edible simply, and such.  The goal is some sort of reasonable satiety, a nutritional return reasonable for cost, lighter weight as possible, and such.  Keto is the idea, but won't be completely possible as calorie requirements rise.  Still, that... is more the goal than not.  Though with powdered fats, such as cream and butter coming into radar range, and being found reasonable, more fats than carbs is looking more viable.

How much food, how many calories, is needed?  It really depends.  On the trail, this video provides an idea.  No, this guy is... sort of a big boy.  But, at six inches shorter, and a hundred pounds lighter?  If he is calling it at 3,500, I'd need 1k to 2k more.  And, if out of shape, possibly a bit more than even that.  Why feed a fatty extra?  Because, if out of shape, he will be needing repair materials... extra extra food.  Then again, not sure that much food could be carried, or eaten.  Initially, it might not work.  Still, I'd definitely suggest about 5k calories for one my size.

Have you ever been seeking?

.
.
But just not finding?  Well, that has been my problem for some time.  It isn't the hammock that is difficult, or of concern.  It was the tarp.  I wanted to a video, or other resource, which covers tarp configurations.  Various.  I have been looking for, a year?  Three?  Maybe even five years.

The query seems simple.  Though, with each additional variable included... tarp... hammock camping... and anything else... porch, "A", etc., the quality of results diminishes.  Though, even keeping it very simple, figuring out which ones offer what, without watching them all, is beyond tricky.  So... over time, through frustration, eventually a video is found.  Why this one took so long, and was so difficult, I can't say.

I would even say that many people who put up tarps don't... seem to actually know how to put up tarps!  They were copying someone, perhaps even just off-screen.  They don't seem to know what they were doing, so couldn't really get me to the idea of how to alter that, or ideas.  Something I hadn't thought about, until this, was using the tarp, in the rain, to catch water.  That will take trial and error, to get water into canteens.  But, just the idea... is... quite simple, and yet eloquent... in a backwoods sort of way.  Yes, sure, it makes perfect common sense.  But... who has common sense these days?

Anyway... This is what I was looking for.  So pleased with it, decided to put it up.  Hopefully to be available in the future.  But, if nothing else, to share good dope when I find it.  Uhrm, dope means data, knowledge, not the... stupid stuff people waste themselves on.  Anyway... here you go.
