A shower.

.
.
And more!  I finally made it to the store.  I had to scrub first.  I must still smell.  It is the house.  Anyway.  Enough groceries to see me through to payday, with one special meal.  Has thanksgiving passed?  I think so.  Rather than turkey, or chicken, I went with oysters.  Strange, perhaps.  Usually a Christmas Eve thing when growing up.  Far easier than doing a whole turkey or chicken.  And, yet, still festive.

Not tonight.  Grilling.  Burgers, pork shoulder steak, and a veal chop I got a very nice deal on.  Food ahead for the week.  I've never had veal before, to my knowledge.  I didn't even know they still raised it!  I like trying new things.  I thought I forgot my list, so winged it.  Not the best, but some.  It was in my pocket, it just didn't feel like it, until I pulled my wallet as I was leaving.  Couldn't have afforded it all anyway.  *sigh*

Dinner is done and done.  Veal it was.  I don't think veal is best grilled.  It wasn't awful, it was more that it is too delicate a meat to handle the strength of smoke.  Some might truly enjoy it, but most wouldn't.  As I suggested, not awful.  As to veal itself?  I... suspect that is an acquired taste, to some degree.  Tender?  Amazingly.  But not terribly beefy.  No complaints, mind you, just notes.  It is amazing in texture and... something else.  A gentle meat to begin eating meat again with.

So tired.  Must sleep soon.  It is good to know food will be available.  Blood sugar has been going up, dosing hasn't been helping.  Good night.

Doldrums indeed.

.
.
Winter... fall?  As often as it freezes I could mostly call it either if it is more a combination.  Much better than summer doldrums, that heat is a ballbreaker.  At least with the cool, sleep is good, IF I can figure out enough bodily warmth.  Elevated feet, the right blankets, a stocking hat, and a robe as needed.  I don't sleep cold.  Actually, I am wondering if my body puts out more insulin if it is too cold.  Blood sugar was 143 this morning, while I am toasty warm.

Nothing, yesterday.  Part of it was no heat.  The furnace was at 66°.  I never realized to turn it up.  First thing today.  Eating almost nothing, barely drinking a gallon a day, sometimes half that.  I know, I said I was down to a gallon before, if more like that and an half.  And, that was true... of cold tea.  I was drinking three to four quarts of fatted tea or coffee too.  Now, the gallon or less includes all.

Yeah.  I need to get to the store.  Believe it or not, I am extremely hungry.  Not thirsty, could fix that.  Cooler weather slakes thirst.  Same plan as yesterday.  Plus grocery shopping if possible.  Ugh.  I better reset the furnace before another day is gone.  Later.

Someone is, or is trying to, put two and two together.

.
.
Insanity?  Or a true timekiller?  He fears he experienced it.  Denial.

Not eating.

.
.
Between too little variety, something just wrong, and no energy to overcome the first problems, food just...  I can't eat.  Blood sugar is going high, 140 fasting this morning.  Higher yesterday, if I ate absolutely nothing so didn't dose two days ago.  Yesterday I had a fatted tea and nuts, for breakfast, so I could dose.  Blood sugar was down to 99 at bedtime last night.  Not doing well.  Shopping, soon?

A shower and trim shortly.  A fatted coffee and very small portions of salami, cheese if I can find some.  Recheck my grocery list.  Tend the pets.  And... see from there.  May shower before starting my waking time.  Going to hit it, push, if I can find substance from mind and will and get it to engage with my flesh.  I may not be the ghost of Sparta, but a ghost I am, sometimes.  Later.

Must have needed it.

.
.
Down by 20:30.  I initially woke at 3:30, and was almost sure I was awake.  I started to think about something, then nothing.  4:30?  Wow.  Weird, but I am up now, for sure.  I rolled over to 6:30!  Very weird!  But definitely awake, as sleep almost ate me again.  No!   So, I got up, used the facility, set up the machine, and sit writing this, as the clock says 6:06?  So toast.  No, both the upstairs clock and this one are radio linked to the Colorado nuclear time system.  I... don't know what... that... was.  I very rarely see that in waking time.  Others have experienced it for the first time in my presence.

When I suggest accidental transcendentalism, I don't mean it merely in a personal, private, or psychological way.  In some ways, it is purely objective and impersonal.  Quite real, no longer having much to do with me.  It can frighten or terrify friend, stranger, or foe.  Perhaps it is some sort of pheromone or hormone released, which has slightly... hallucinogenic properties?  I...always seek potential scientific explanations.  I like spiritual, faith has it's reasons.  But, in time, what faith now requires will become actual science as a knowledge.  So...

Of course, I neither need or expect belief, even from those of you who have experienced it.  Like the guys I k.o.ed, their minds always looked for any explanation which didn't leave them naked, alone, vulnerable, in the dark, without any say.  It terrifies more to lose temporary control than almost anything else.  Denial is common. Even I... attempt denial, when I forget, or it's possible.

So warm upstairs.  62° F.  It was 57°  at bedtime.  Almost too warm.  It doesn't seem to matter whether I leave the door downstairs open or not.  Sleep was good enough.  And I actually didn't feel too cold or hot.  It is just strange.  Thursday already.  I suppose I best get busy before I have another dead week.  Later.

Oh, probably just quirks.

.
Strange new and old, popping like popcorn.  Irresistible.  Could it be?

Nothing more doing.

.
.
I don't function well lately.  Almost not at all.  And today, blood sugar remains slightly elevated, in spite of my best efforts.  I suspect it is from a lack of better, more substantial food.  I haven't been staying away from the store for financial reasons, mostly.  I just haven't been able to get all together and go.  For weeks.

Working on it.  If I can find corned beef at a price I can do, that and cabbage.  Perhaps carrots.  Or a chuck roast.  The rest will be chicken and or pork, unless that too has become to expensive for the "middle class".  Man, it is getting so that starving isn't a choice.  It's what's for dinner.

On the other hand, when people have had it, I don't think elites will even see it coming.  When was the last time Biden, Pelosi, Ginsberg, McConnell, or even Trump had to go without beef, or whatever they like, because the price was simply too high?  If I am choking, I can only imagine a family.  Is the whole under $40 to $50 k lot drowning?  Have to be.  It can only last so long.

Bedtime.  Sleep well.

Whether of thatch, logarithm, or other...

.
.
It makes no difference to me.

Not always what was wanted.

.
.
Lists of lists.  Things to do.  Work, chores, calls, bills, etc.  All have their own best and worst times.  Some by date, others by time, the last are regulated by my capacity.  As well, there are daily chores, but... when I am running a time lapse, and my days are very long or very short... I can only do what I can do.

I finally called my brother.  I called once to no answer, called my mom and she made a suggestion, then called again.  Had good talks on both calls.  I have learned the trick... don't be family, don't be right, and listen?  Something like that.  I learned from my mom, when she remembers, which is almost always now.  It is good to have family.  I will try to keep up, and add a few more, now that humility and civility are... nearing automation.  An aunt I have always adored, an sob of an uncle, a cousin or two.  Just... to... be alive... more alive... for a while longer.

I... don't know why, but time has flown this morning.  I checked my account, I should have enough for groceries finally.  I created a list, but may not get all.  Oh, crap, one last bill is overdue.  Water.  This coming month... Ugh.  So close to having everything caught up.  It is tight anyway, but being behind is murder.

I'll hit aspirin again.  Fluids aren't being expelled quickly, but taking more waterpills makes me quite ill.  It'll just have to be a slow grind.  At least, mostly, no area is screaming, if quite a few are sore.  Yes aspirin.  Blood sugar went up without eating.  I had forgotten it does that when average goes below 150.  My monthly average is at 119.  Anyway, at 118 I dosed, am eating, and will figure out how to eat more.  Popcorn?  It seems like a bad food, but usually gets insulin to work better than not eating enough.

It is gray and 40° F out there.  Still... it is a good day.  Later.

About right.

.
.
My sleep cycle that is.  Down at 19:30, up at 3:00.  Sam woke me once, I she failed after that.  I slept out on the open floor, since going to bed close enough to the dark I don't need the protections the closet offers.  Perhaps you know, or don't, the desperate need for sleep and the inability to attain it for the light of day.

Oddly, I think it was easier to lift off the floor this morning.  I would have thought, despite the close confines of the closet, having walls to pressure off would have made it easier.  Then again, I don't really remember getting up.  So maybe it is a waking short term memory issue, not a comparison.

I am really considering putting a bolt in, or two, over my sleeping areas, so as to put in a knotted rope.  Using that to strengthen my arms and get up easier?  The thing that is a bit spooky about that is how clumsy and dubious strength can be in the morning.  Then again, for how fragile much of my health is, my bones are absolutely solid.  I can, probably, handle a minor fall without to much damage.  Though, I may not actually have the strength needed.  Perhaps at angles?

Blood sugar was a bit high most of yesterday.  Starting at 117 to 111 to 123 ending at 78 if nearly fasting.  I couldn't eat much.  A fatted coffee or tea was two of my meals.  I took a 8 cc dose with what I could eat for the first reads.  It finally worked.  I don't think, regardless of how many calories are supposed to be in it, that my body actually counts a fatted coffee or tea as a caloric food?  Which is required, in my system, for the insulin to be able to act.

On the good side, blood sugar is 104 fasting this morning.  To be honest, I would much rather have higher aftermeal reads, and a lower fasting morning read, so...  Ah, I took 20 cc's of the slow acting insulin in spite of the lower last read.  My body really does put out a lot of insulin at night.  If I could regulate sleep, I would avoid eating for five to eight hours before bed.  It definitely lowers how much insulin my body puts out.  I will use that as much as my sleep issues allow.

Legs are still sore from swelling. Why not the feet and ankles?  Pickle juice, tea, and three waterpills (my usual, if I keep looking for a way to lower that), aspirin as all the aches remain as well as occasional feverishness.  I'll see if my list of chores can be reduced today.  Later.

Sometimes I am so very wrong.

.
.
That was very fast.

Annoying?

.
.
This first vid keeps popping.  Insinuation?  If you know the flick, you know nothing is quite as it seems.  Nothing.  You almost can't think it back through... unless you were Tyler first, and as I have mentioned, always will be.  A devil may not be an angel, but he isn't a demon either.

Today is as yesterday.

.
.
Better.  But just.  Not good definitely not great.  Aspirin first thing, and waterpills, three.  My usual number.  And to set up medication, the rest of it.  I will continue with pickle juice and tea, trying to find equilibrium.  Mouth is so dry, but my legs, from just above the ankles to nearly the knees are swollen so bad they hurt.  I may have to find my really long compression socks.

I thought I had caught the waterpills in time, seems not.  That may be why my lungs burn.  The thing I don't get, is if my heart is better, why is blood still backing into my lungs?  Why do I still need heart medicine?  I don't think they actually know what they are talking about.  They sure don't explain it well.

Sam was up several times.  Sure, she wakes me, but I don't mind.  I think the closet sleeping is why Sassy doesn't go up.  But, now that I am sleeping at about dark, I am going to sleep out in the room.  I sure wish I had a heavy-duty chair to help get up, wherever I sleep.  I might have to look for one.  Not a lazy-boy type, that would be murder to get upstairs.

Perhaps even just a very heavy, squat, endtable?  It isn't pure weakness, it is that plus waking weakness.  Muscles and all just are coordinated first thing.  I can pop off a standard bed, but all that is needed for that is leg strength.  I figure, in time, I will gain more arm strength, and a sort of muscle memory.  But, for now, a minor booster would be good.

The V.A. has arranged an appointment before the paperwork is due.  It is just primary, but it is a start.  I need to clear my head so as to catalog the symptoms, actually sets of symptoms.  The flu-like thing is it's own thing, probably carrying something, or something I was exposed to but never fully beat.  Then what I suspect are symptoms from occasional organ brown-outs.  They don't quit, completely, they just slow way down.  Then the exhaustion and confusion.  I am sure there might be connections, but not always.  Yes, lists.  And questions.  If my heart is better, why am I not?

Blood sugar is better, at 117 fasting.  The last blood sugar was 101 up from 76 without food, so I used 23 cc's of slow acting insulin.  I do my best at derivating needed insulin and do... okay.  The goal is still 100 fasting.  I have room to improve.  Still, it's been over a week with 155 as the highest reading, generally by a significant spread.

Well, on to waking.  Good morning and day, perhaps good night for some of you night owls out there.

Better.

.
.
Not good, just better.  Kidneys still hurt.  Actually everything but the headache remains.  Everything is muted, except the tired feeling of the heart.  That is the same.  Well, the fever has gone for now, replaced by chills.  It's worse when they both exist at the same time.

I suspect the improvements are from aspirin and pickle juice.  I am about to take a few waterpills and try for a nap.  The V.A. has gotten back to me, but I haven't heard anything final.  I may simply be required to wait until my appointment in January, turn in the social security paperwork in December, and tell them I am attempting to get the V.A. to more fully evaluate my conditions.

Sam is having difficulty eating.  I am hoping it is just the cold.  It cooled a bit, and got darker today.  I know what that can do to me.  But, I know, she is slowly slipping away.  All I can do is be as good of a friend as possible for the time she has left.  She has been a wonderful friend for many years now.

I best nap myself.  I'll leave the door open.  She may join me for a bit.  Then again, I think she knows I am in a bit of a spot myself.  Animals can just tell.  Oh, but blood sugar came down nicely.  I used 15 cc's of fast acting insulin and blood sugar dropped to 84 then 76.  I... guess I don't need as much as I used to require.  Later.

Aha!?!

.
.
Taking in fluid was not helping.  The more I drank the drier my mouth got, and the worse I felt.  Aspirin went down.  As it started to take hold, I was able to think.  Definitely dehydration, a serious enough case of it that the kidneys were choking on the dry.  As was I.  How had I dealt with deep dehydration before?

Pickle juice!  Right.  It was a seriously powerful fix.  Too salty?  No, the vinegar seems to mitigate that.  Something in it does.  But, then again, I don't drink much.  A quarter cup, every half to several hours as desired, until the grail and or fever in the throat is gone.  Then I drink as much other fluid as possible, as pure as possible.  I can't drink much water, or even straight tea, it makes the dryness worse, even swelling my throat shut with as little as a half pint.  Sometimes I can drink more, just not when too dehydrated.

So, yes.  Pickle juice, a first shot.  More after I finish.  As well, some slightly salty soup.  I have to avoid salami for a while, but a bit of saltiness is required to hold some of the fluid.  Salami will be a small, twice a week treat from now on.  Balance.  I still have to take waterpills, just not as many, or for now.  Two, for now.  It's all engineering, medicine.  It really isn't science.  I are an engineer, of sorts.  Within what is possible.

I made it to the post.  Packages.  They had been in my box, but it overfilled.  I got to it before it became a bother.  I do my best.  Sometimes my best is slow.  Not this time.

Later.

Something is terribly wrong.

.
.
I haven't hurt like this in a long time.  A major headache, fever and chills, biceps to kidneys feel as if I had been in a serious scrap against two or three thugs.  My calf has a charliehorse.  Several areas do, including my left wrist.  My lungs burn, hot.  And my heart is so tired, achy, sore.

I think I used too many waterpills.  They didn't evacuate fluids evenly.  I had thought it was working, but it isn't, not evenly.  My right foot and ankle is normal, at least in appearance.  The left side not so much.  As well, in spite of brushing, my mouth is so dry that bad breath persists.  That has been true for a while now, it is just worse.

Blood sugar is 155 fasting.  That shouldn't be.  It was 88 at bedtime, I hadn't eaten for hours, I consumed keto.  I only took 18 cc's of slow acting insulin, but that was more than yesterday with a lower bedtime blood sugar.  I think it was kidneys not working, for whatever... extreme dehydration?  They sure hurt.

Well, aspirin and fewer waterpills.  I still need to take.  I'd best drink a bit more too.  A horrible night and start to the day.  It's what I have.  Later.

Bedtime.

.
.
Not much.  The ducks were given a second outing and the girls were fed.  I did do a second dose of fast acting insulin with my last meal.  Blood sugar is 88 now, perfect.  I used 18 cc's of slow acting, trying to minimize insulin.  Tomorrow will begin to tell.  Will see when meat is back on the menu.

Bedtime indeed.  Good night, and blessings.

Had to chuckle.

.
.
I kept eating.  Not all that much, but constant.  Hungry?  Not really.  I think my body wants meat.  What I have just doesn't work.  Anyway.  I did get around to making chocolate pudding, whipped cream, and chia, then mixing parts and adding walnuts.  Every bit as good as it might seem.  Though, of course, I didn't eat a quarter of any of it.  Next time with pecans?

It has been two hours, finally, since my last meal, the pudding mix.  With all, I was worried about a higher blood sugar.  Sure enough, higher.  THAT is what made me laugh.  One dose of fast acting with the first breakfast, then eating all morning, and I count 105 as a high read?  True, not in the 90's, but easily good enough... in no way too high.

Right.  I want to work, but my lungs burn.  Muscles too, from little effort.  I am looking for an opportunity.  Later.

Down very hard.

.
.
I am guessing, from historical documents, that I went down around 11:30 yesterday.  The timestamp on blogger is always way off, but phone use is accurate.  The body tried to wake several times, and I heard someone in my house which stirred me.  Just not enough to get up.  Besides, I can tell who.  The lad walks with two left feet!  I was finally able to shake sleep at about 3:00~3:30.

Blood sugar is 130 fasting.  I only used 15 cc's of the slow acting insulin though.  Blood sugar was 97 after a meal, so I worried.  Perhaps 18 cc's in between 90 and 100?  Yeah.  Weekly average is 105 biweekly is 106 and monthly is 124.  If I get the monthly average to ~105, that will probably be as good as it gets.  Though, I may have to take 25 cc's to get fasting to ~100.

Today?  I am hoping a shower, shave, and cleaning the bathroom.  It has been stripped bare.  So just a fresh sweep, washing the ceramics, and mopping.  If anything else is possible, it would be installing shelving, a standing closet, and some lighting up there. Possible.  I need to go grocery shopping soon.  My preferred stores are all closed on Sunday, something I support mind you.

Of course, with real food to eat, adjustments will have to be made to insulin and consumption in order to keep the numbers.  Then again... I have been surprised by the volume of the right food I can eat without upsetting blood sugar.  Weight is another matter.  And, yes, weight is coming into it's own as a consideration both after and through lower blood sugar readings.  Later.
