Pouting.

.
.
Everything I have attempted this week has come to naught. Not only that, every one of them has piled on more work on top of the work I cannot seem to get done. I am backing up and the machine is getting clogged. I have no idea how to get some important things done. From registering my vehicle here, to my drivers license, to getting this apartment contract out from under me (the bigger one), to... pick one.

Tomorrow I have three appointments, two at the V.A. in SLC and one in Ogden. While I am at the Ogden clinic, I am going to fill out the forms for reimbursement for travel, I have some belief that they did not send them. Why? Because 100%'ers get reimbursed and it has been over a month now. The V.A. can be slow, but not that slow. This time I will take the paperwork and submit it myself. I have some wonder if they circular file such requests from some people. Paranoid? Yea, sure, whatever. *duck!*

I just finished fasting. Reading the bible and seeing that over and over, I was not sure I could do it. In the Jewish customs, I believe they fast from sun up to sun down, and then they may eat. Instead, I went without any food for two days. Yes, I was checking my blood sugar. I dropped from 261 to 159, if there was an odd tick in there where it went down, up, then down again. Cool. It was a test, if induced a bit by the reading, as a gift to God, and as a means of pouting, or really just being discouraged. Why have just one reason, try them all!

Now that I know I can do it, I may try from one to two days most weeks. I generally will not be discussing it, just doing it. Though if asked, I will speak about it. It makes a nice opening for proselytizing. And, I do not think it would be bad for any part of me. It not only helps me focus on God, perhaps Christ's suffering (though honestly, I thought it was a cake walk), to the more mundane focus on what I do eat, when, and why. Supposedly, if you have diabetes or some other health issues (heart for sure), you should at least consult a doctor. So I will not willy-nilly recommend it. But if you are healthy, it might be worth a shot.

My reading of the Old Testament is quite slow. I am to 1 Chronicles 19. This looks just like the other passages about the same kings, their heirs, their successes, their sinning. *sigh* And, no, I have not memorized the family links from Adam to David. I trust them. Ha! What I do see, however, is a striking resemblance between their fall, and why it came about, and all the other great nations who have fallen (or are about to fall). I also noted that God was disappointed that the people wanted a king. Hmm, who else is calling for a king, or at least the bureaucratic power equivalent to one? Let me think.

If I get back early enough tomorrow, I will go shooting. I did get the rifle taken in and the sight adjusted, but there is only one way to know if that was enough, too much, or just right. Perhaps too, now that it is loosened (?), I may be able to move it myself with the tools on hand. If not, back it goes. At $5 a pop, I am not terribly worried. Still, I would rather not have another ongoing dysfunctional project on my hands. Grrrrrrrrhhhhhhahaha! (or something like that, as a friend of mine has been known to growl)

To break the fast, this evening, I had a pork chop, eggs, and some peas with butter. A glass of milk topped it off nicely. It was not too much or too little. To be honest, I was not all that hungry or interested. It was good and all, food simply was not as missed as I thought it would be. But as I said in a comment, I am not out digging ditches, plowing new ground, hauling stone blocks, or such. I sit around and read, tinker on the machine, blog, and pee too. It will be interesting to see how I do on a busy fasting day. I may pass that information on when I know more. Still, from 261 to 159, a 102 point drop in blood sugar. Nice. Plus with my better eating, I can probably bring that down even more, if more slowly generally. Any troubles with it going too low and I will eat a bowl of ice cream first, or add orange juice in there somewhere. Oh, yes, I went from 285.5 to 277.7, though that was not and will not be part of the scheme, directly.

Well, that is my shell in a nutlife. Good night, K9.

  1. interesting. i have fasted during lent. i still observe the fish on friday routine - no sacrifice there i like fish. fasting is a kind of altered state - i actually seem to feel much better on fewer calories. ive done some fasts where all i had was hot water with lemon -which is to give your liver a rest - that was not the best time.

sometimes when i am polluted from painkillers and naprosin i fast to de tox. i get these horrible backlash headaches and there is nothing that can be done but ride it out. horrible. i had a very bad neck week this week and had to resist taking anything for it for fear of the pollution.

you know i have a bersa .380. and i can not find ammo for it. i bought some yougoslavian ammo for it. finally i bought a ruger .22 rifle. i know thats tiny but its a semi auto will hold a 50 round clip and i thought the ammo is very abundant so....i want to get a site mounted on it. i wish i could afford the ruger ranch rifle its a .223 and every elegant in a way that AR's and AK's are not.

i worry about this king making machine too. ive never seen anything like this in my 50 years - a lapdog media in full tilt dereliction of duty. and americans that will not see the purposeful implosion of the economy as a means to gain further bureaucratic control. so frustration.

well, im late to you post - nice to see ya growling. grrrrrrrrrrrrherherherhehraha!

and thanks for taking off comment mod. so irritating.

  2. I used to fast once in a while years ago. I haven't in a long time.

If you can run to three days or more of total fast, there are some definite spiritual fruits to be gained.

  3. K9,

Never worry about typos. I know you all actually WORK for a living! That many of you can blog AND comment is amazing to me.

I can see the headache from fasting, though I can't raise you. I have gotten little ones. But after quitting Tylenol nearly completely for a while, I went back on 1500 mg three times a day again, before fasting, so they went away quickly. I had heard of the cleansing affect. I am dubious of it, but if YOU say so. *smile*

As for politics, even God really is with us. He despised the Jews when they demanded a king, but said to his leader at the time, give them what they want but tell them the price. People are stupid, what is new to us or God?

And, I concur with you on the ranch .223, and it's elegance. We share similar tastes (and maybe budgets though too, Ha!). I have seen, in this land of plenty (of ammo) that .380 ammo, when it is in, is rationed (I used to have a Bursa .380 too:). And a .22 is a fine gun to have. Have you become our Annie Oakley? By the way, I had a [bad] crush on her! She hunted game with a .22 first, for her family. And won great acclaim with that caliber. To be honest, if you are a crack shot with a .22 you are better off than me and my AK, for the most part. Haven't you played video games? Haven't you heard of head-shot, for heavens sake? Ghhrrreherherherha! (a .22 caliber only has the capacity to enter a skull, it doesn't have the power to exit, therefore it is one of the more lethal calibers.) I think you are doing fine! Better than any woman I personally know, and I have tried to "help them". Woot!

    D.C.,

No running in my future, or past. It busts my knees up. I don't think it does damage, it just hurts a lot. But swimming... As I said, when they got me on Ritalin, I was up to 1 mile swims, 3 days a week, and gaining. My goal is to be up to 3 miles 3 days a week, and weight training as well, 3 days a week. I am, slowly, looking into swimming. And, yeah, you can swim 3 miles in less than an hour when you get good at it. It is a (timewise) VERY economical exercise, if you also have to pay pool fees, while you can run any where any time (if cities can be dangerous in a thousand ways). I mean to get out hiking, and soon, as well.
