Recently invited for a potential trip, I did the logical thing. I've been that way before, but as part of a larger trip. Plus, I'm not in top form atm. Between meds, sleep shifting again, and just having eaten a large amount of pasta, the brain isn't working. That's what computers are for anyway, isn't it? So, I went to MapQuest, my preferred mapper, and plugged everything in. It came out the the trip would cost $500, in gas, roughly. Since I used it before, I assumed it was still set up. I think I have checked their cookies and allow the ones needed. Then I looked at the mileage again, just looking at various paths. Okay, that was way off. I get better than 7 gallons to the mile, which is roughly what the cost estimate would have indicated. Nope, a check on my calculator, even adding in for less mileage than I actually get, and the gas costs are more like $134. Now, that is one way, and assumes gas prices don't jump, but still. Full trip would be less than half of what half the trip was being suggested. Don't know about these programs, always.
It wouldn't be bad to get out, away, do something. Timing, though... I will be going up on medicines shortly, so an immediate trip would be unlikely. But in a month? Dunno, just thinking. You know, I haven't ever thought of traveling on such short notice in my adult life since becoming ill. I never had it in me to even think of such a thing. It's... novel. I wrote this little note to cma. I wrote an email about it, and the recipient must have thought me a mad man, more than usual. Nope, just MapQuest kicking me in the quads and hanging me out to intellectually dry. But I did catch it, eventually.
Later.
I've got a trip to Vegas first week in December, so keep that in mind as a week that is out.
