Smoke.

.
.
I don't think it is holy smoke, either.  It blankets the land to the sky, blotted out the sun.  It is already down to 63 out there.  Indoors, at the hottest place in the house, it is 74.  It is 73 in the main, and 73 in the main of this room.  I had the fan in this front room going, but the rest, down here, were off.

I could sense, while upstairs, that it was quite cool.  So I shut off the ac and put the fans on low and opened up.  I did close the door to the upstairs, out of habit.  I'll fix that the next time I am by.  Having the door open really increases total airflow.

Ah!  I remember what I did yesterday, but forgot.  I turned the bed.  Just the top mattress.  In about a week, I'll turn the other mattress.  Then I'll flip bottom to top, flip that once, then check them.  If they still smell like buffalo (bison to the word Nazis), I'll air them out.  But, every third or fourth month, for sure, I will put them out.  Really, just that seems to really help.  Next month I may buy a few extra smaller mattresses.  I think I have two larger ones.

Hey, it isn't even just for me.  If that is part of it.  If I had visitors, or some in need, I would have things I could lend out, gift if necessary.  Most people don't weight 300 pounds.  One would do.  And, for children, two could probably sleep on even the thin mattress.  But, too, with the flipping and turning, three of each type of mattress could see me to a clean sleeping arrangement for the rest of my life?  Who knows.

Well, and they would make sleeping in the Xterra feasible.  On long trips, or camping.  It really has helped my back.  On regular mattresses, my back always hurt.  I tried hard, medium, and soft.  Something about them is not good.  I spent large bills on them, too.  Some I bought cheap, everyone tries to go that way.  But, eventually, I began looking at better.  Never found one that didn't hurt my back.  Took nearly a year to adjust to the floor, and getting up us a bear these days, but worth the price.

Humility has it's costs, and values.  Speaking of which, I heard something, the other day, which made me chuckle.  (roughly)  'True humility is saying grace before eating crow.'  That... tickled my gallows nethers.  Something deliciously cruel about that.  I... can't wait to try it.  For, God of all beings knows, I... will eat crow until the day I die!  It's... just... a known bug with me.  Feature, some suggest.  I am not always the best at it, but I do it.  You'd think I'd be awesome at it by now?

Tonight?  I don't know.  I'll see about food.  And see about some cleaning.  And... see about what I can.  So very tired though.  Crushed, like a submarine, at the bottom of the ocean.  But... know.  If there was one man alive on the sub, he would be doing everything he could to live.  From willing it to praying to attempting to find and salvage equipment, food, and potable water... perhaps trying to figure out how to get more air.  And, so I am.  Though, without light, in the cold, probably wet, there are... limits.  I will lose this game, but I have already joined the winning side.  Amen.
