.
I knew it was going to be a beastly chore, especially solo. Mother couldn't have reached what needed held, nor does she have the strength. Not complaining, just explaining.
Putting up the base boards, needing to pre drill, then use the cordless drill to screw the wood down, while keeping it balanced? Quite a trick. Oh, but should I need to do such a task again, I have learned a few things. Such as starting in the middle.
The drilling had to be done several times. The wood was resisting. My nature is to drill three sizes too small. In this case, I had to drill pretty much the size of the screw. Learning that after drilling all the holes at least once, often twice already. Even then, it was a rough go of it. That wood did not wish to be screwed! As if even I was really in the mood.
The rack itself had to be disassembled, the mounts installed, then reassembled on the mounted mounts. That went surprisingly well, with the only bad part being that they used metric for everything save one of the bolts. And that one must have been a second, to boot. It didn't fit standard well, either, for hex.
So, yes, after an hour of work, two? Two or three breaks and some solid cussing, the thing is installed, and functioning. In use, if mother is to be believed. Which I do, too tired to verify.
After that, I added new latches. No small task. And I was pretty worn from the rack installation. Finally, I cooked tuna steaks for supper. Mom made a palm heart linguine in cream white sauce as a side. Pretty good. I also started my white clothes. But that is it.
Oh, I also finally installed a handle, to help her get on and off the toilet. That was really easy, but that drill is a lot of weight. To drill, then screw the wood screws in, is a lot of work.
I am hoping to do more laundry tomorrow. Get a shower in. Maybe some work up here. But not much else. Tired, very tired. Yes, I policed my tools and parts. Putting them up, and away. Mom wanted more, I told her no. I am absolutely shot.
Good night.
