Well, something is working.

.
.
The last few days I was getting up later and the last few nights I could not sleep until early in the morning, 4:00 last night. I set my alarm for 9:00 this morning, hoping upon hope that I would rise (by noon, I am practical). Instead, I woke at a quarter to eight. I did a little damage assessment and some preps for the move, got a load ready, and here I am. Two or three loads a day should see me in good stead. I am not sleeping here yet. I like waking up with nothing to do but move. It offers incentives to get going. In this next week, I should be completely out of the apartment.

I did dream last night as well. Oddly, while I was dreaming, I was also awake enough to hear a conversation next door. At first I thought I was having two dreams at once, or that the conversation was going to become a part of it, without really understanding I was asleep. I simply could not understand what was happening. It sort of killed the dream when I realized the speaking was physical. And yet, I was not actually awake either. That is one of the odder experiences I have had in a while. Awake in mind but not in flesh. Gee, if I were not Catholic, I might have to become a shaman. Then again, I doubt if it pays as well. It might be easier to get a wife though.

More, I do not feel exhausted this morning. It may have to do with spending time here, with all the sunlight available in this place. I simply am not sure what to make of things sometimes.

  1. I usually get a short nap most afternoons, which gives me plenty of experience with those semi-conscious states. There has been a number of occasions where I thought I was awake, but later when I woke up I realized I was still mostly asleep.

In that state a dream can spontaneously begin, riffing right off whatever I was aware of in my surroundings. Another thing that I often experience is a lingering image imprint, such as you get when you look at something brightly lit and then close your eyes to see the imprint on your retina. But waking slightly from a dream state there was no actual image on the retina, because my eyes were closed while sleeping. It is often a pattern like a wood grain or a fabric pattern or something else that one may see in their daily world. But it was somehow imprinted by whatever dream I woke from.

Re: shamanism as an alternative, you and me both. I definitely have that proclivity. There is probably some way these gifts fit into our Christianity, but I'm waiting on the Lord to show me. There are experiences I could tell you about that still make me marvel...

  2. I know the pattern deal, now that you mention it. But the memory of that fades fast. And, as I have said, I have dreamed within dreams, had dreams while just barely asleep, and had real life enter dreams, plus had the dream and real life be present at the same time. It's weird stuff, even if it all turns out normal.

Sometimes, when we discus these things, I wonder if you aren't more like a brother than any brother I have had. I didn't even like most of my brothers, well, sort of. I loved and liked em', we just lived on different worlds.

I am not saying this is a good thing or a bad thing, for your part. For my part, I am quite good with it. I'm already mental, my lot could not go down on your account. Ha!
