Just. I left the camp at noon, give or take. Traffic was slow getting down the dirt roads to the highway. But once to the highway, dispersion and whatever else cleared the road easily. I left Snowflake at right at 14:00, it was right at 2:00 when I arrived home. I went the speed limit plus five, and while I did stop for one very fast meal, it took an hour longer than the online map suggested. Yeah, I was fast with gas fills too, so that wasn't it. Actually I only went into one. The rest were, pretty much, drivethroughs. Ah well. I made it, and alive, and on track.
The burn was fun. It was good to see Desert Cat, and meet Daisy Cat. An entertaining lot if I ever saw one. I shouldn't have grinned and giggled so much but they WERE entertaining, according to my book. She didn't kill me outright. And she didn't end up being all that fearful. And I never pulled any punches. I don't cut corners or fib, as best as I am able, in real life or on my blog. It works out better that way, in my opinion.
I cooked, burned hard, the first day. After that, I learned to wear my sun proof solution and clothing and stayed in the shade for the most part. I did get out several times, day and night. I simply wasn't in very good shape. A good month after seven or eight months knocking on death's door simply wasn't enough to liven me. No matter, I enjoyed getting out, the company, and what activity I could do.
I am zapped. So I won't unload tonight. But I will unload, part or whole, tomorrow. Further, I do believe I will tend things as I unpack them. The tent won't need airing out. But the sleeping bag will. I'll want to go through my b.o.b. and rearrange and ensure I have what I want to keep in there. I used some of the bits, here and there. Clothing will all go into the washroom, and be sorted. It might take a few days to get it all out, but it will be done this time, and quickly.
I best get to bed. Good night.
You are back! And alive! That reminds me though for myself, I need to take my blood pressure medicine. I forgot myself to take it a couple of times this week. Glad you had a good time.
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy to forget! I don't care what you do, especially you folk with real lives. I'm thinking of buying a little medicine necklace that holds a day's supply, or two, change it when I change my other medicines or, of course, after I use it.
ReplyDeleteHad a blast. I think some there thought I was a stick in the mud, and I can't explain to all and everyone my situation. But, yeah, turtles and hamsters can have fun, even if it doesn't seem as if we are. :)
Yup. Y'all got on famously, best I could tell.
ReplyDeleteI suspected, and was pretty sure. But... obvious isn't always correct. Still, I go with the mundane unless that is pointed out as incorrect by someone in the know. You are the only one in the know that I know about that, so...
ReplyDeleteShe, of course, denies ever having intent to be wroth.
ReplyDeleteBut you know how that goes...
Wroth? From a good woman? Perish the thought.
ReplyDeleteI had not thought about a medicine necklace.
ReplyDeleteWhen I car camp or do the yearly burn type camp like you do, I put my meds on top of a plastic container in which I keep 1st aid stuff. That container goes beside my camp cot like a little night stand.
Glad you had a blast. Looks like you are more of a social turtle then you thought :-)
I've never hated people, just couldn't socialize or it wasn't available at my speed. Even this is the easy way. I can do it when I can, at my speed, end it if need be for a nap, or such. If I have an half hour, or three, or six, or can roam, or must hide for a day, it's all good.
ReplyDeleteRemember, I used to be go to events similar to this, on the East Coast, that were invitation only. Sure, there was music, and costumes, and whatever, as whoever wanted. But really, the entertainment was the socialization. If you didn't entertain, somehow, you weren't invited. I never did figure out what made me interesting to that crowd but didn't worry about it, didn't care.
