Before I go there, a breakfast. Chia cereal, with pecans, hazel nuts, and pumpkin seed. As well, a fatted tea and a dose of insulin. Oh, right. The plan was to wait a few extra hours. Focus is lacking. The crash took it away. I wonder about using the digital calendar, trying to order life with it? Anyway, perhaps starting things over tomorrow.
I have been dreaming of getting out camping. Ultra light camping has draws, if severe limits too. I wouldn't even think about such a plan in heavy weather. Which means, in the mountains, it is risky. Storms can sneak up on you. Still, in the summer, for short trips, perhaps. Day trips until experience in weather understandings, gear, and self have been built, then longer trips.
How do you know gear? Well, it is possible to learn from others. A variety of sources, more out there. Many more.

There are safe ways to test, as well. I will be attempting the tooth paste trick tonight. As well as begin putting soap and else from the mini kits together. Then attempting to live from just these kits. Seeing what I need, use, would want beyond, and how much I really use.
I truly hope to gear for light hikes, and get out. Whether some hard trail or a hike along the road in flatlands, perhaps with enough food and else to camp, resting as needed for a return trip. Being nearly dead means I can't always just go home after several hours out. Especially if it is hot.
No promises. I would already have been out. Still, if nothing else, perhaps I can play. As well, who knows, maybe this will inspire someone else. Later.
Oh, an odd note. I gained all the weight back which had been lost. Depressing. Yet, while doing things this morning, the 38 waisted shorts purchased after losing the weight keep falling off. I weighed in yesterday, 277, so pretty much back to my old weight range of 280 to 285. But these shorts only fit when I was down to 260. They didn't start falling off until I hit 250 for a bit. These have no elastic in the waist. As with jeans, there is no give. Strange.
I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, a camper. Even if I was, I doubt I'm in sufficient shape to endure the experience. Having said that, though, I would seize any opportunity to spend a weekend within sight of Crater Lake, or somewhere deep and secluded within Glacier National Park. Especially if some rain is possible. The sound of rain in a wilderness is, to me, the music of angels.
ReplyDeleteCar camping would be your friend, perhaps to the point of glamping... luxury camping. It can be done at extravagant costs or on a slim dime, these days. A second battery and converter, for most electrical, or a generator. Possibly sleeping right in the vehicle, so no need for a tent or even sleeping bags by using blankets. Not advised in bear country. It is easy these days. And as cheap or pricey as you like. If I can get out, I want it as sparse as possible. I fear my Internet addiction. Though that may be based on my general poor condition. When putting up curtains can be beyond one's capacity after a few days of mild work, something is seriously wrong. Perhaps I should consider car camping to kick things off.
ReplyDeleteI would bet you would be surprised and amazed at the beauty right around you. Little state, perhaps county or national parks, within a day's drive. Able to go on the weekdays, you might have a wonderful place, mostly to yourself, if preferred. If I would rather some interaction, at least sometimes. Just... thinking.
