Yeah, sleep is just crazy.

.
.
I can't really push or pull much.  I go down when I go down and wake when I can.  I have no idea when I made it to bed, but I woke around 13:30, give or take an hour.  I know I tried to stay up longer, and really I tried to sleep longer.  Right now, it just seems to happen.  There isn't a lot of give or take.  I am in good shape, not miserable, only a little warm as the afternoons hit.  Much better in here than out there though.  At 14:30ish, the thermometer read right at 94, plus or minus a few degrees.  At nearly 17:00 it seems to be about the same.  A four degree discrepancy between digital and mechanical reading is all.  Sometimes they are closer, but usually a few degrees off as a standard... the electric being generally two degrees cooler.

It's too warm to mess around much right now.  I am hoping to do a bit of work on the kayak this evening.  As soon as the highest reading is down to below 75, I'll begin considering it.  I may take a trip to town when it hits that, just to get out, do a bit of grocery shopping, and maybe have an easy meal.  I haven't had a sweet treat in a while anyway.  Might have a regular soda with whatever fast food I choose.  I have dairy kefir grains on the way, so I want to have a couple of extra gallons of milk to use.  Yeah, a strange thing.  I've always suggested that I am a sort of foodie.  Not doing it so much to be different as to expand my experience and tastes so as to be more survivable.  If you can't eat salami because it is too different, if you can't eat beef or port, because all you know is chicken, if you can't eat fish, all of these things are limits.  Sure, you might be able, over time, to get over some things.  Best to do that now.  I just like to keep my options open, or in this case find a less expensive way of having something I already know I like.

A shower already.  I've found a way to shower and "bath" at the same time.  Olive oil has been great for my skin.  The problem is, even with salt, it doesn't seem (to me) to be all that cleansing.  Now, what I use for cleansing does it's job, but it also strips everything off the skin.  It's like using steelwool soap.  So, now I just wash the body, then salt and oil, saving shampooing for last.  The shampoo isn't as harsh as the soap, so it mostly leaves the oil to do it's thing.  Yeah, no, if you itch... if you have dry patches of skin, if your scalp itches?  Give that a try.  Someone recently suggested baby oil, and I will look into a comparison.  The thing is, you can't eat baby oil.  See, olive oil, even if it is a little less effective, does double duty, and perhaps more.  If I'm going to be out and about, one product for many applications just works out better.  Besides, olive oil is biodegradable.  I'm not an absolutist on such things, but I do tend to keep it in mind.  Wherever I will be living will be where I will depend on everything to be usable or easily cleared.  Anyway, so, I got clean and oiled.

I almost forgot to change my nico-patch today.  That, for me, is a good sign.  Actually, the way I realized it was time to drop to a weaker patch, or quit them, was when days had gone by and I had forgotten.  Over time I begin skipping changing, forgetting, and that is when the hunger has weakened.  I had always gone with the more expensive ones, thinking those must be better (nicotine patches).  I was never satisfied with them.  They were problematic putting on, they didn't stick well, they wouldn't stay on in the shower.  As I remember, they were clear and square (I guess that makes them more socially acceptable?).  This time I went with the cheaper sort.  I'm loving these.  They are round, so fit, go on, and remove easily.  They stick very well.  I find them easy to remove from the packaging.  And, I believe the were 3.5~4/5~6ths the price.  Today is my fifth patch.  I have 51 more, though I doubt I will use them all.

Later.
