.
Woke just after noonthirty. Not feeling great, but not as bad as it has
been. The aches and pains are back, but lightly. The toe knuckle
isn't screaming, isn't even swollen? The skin on the feet still burn, if
more gently. Hobbling about is doable, mostly. And without agony,
just slight suffering.
Exhausted, if not sleepy. A form of being tired that simply means I
don't have much energy, focus, or access to memory all that well, and yet
can't really sleep.
Internals feel a bit off, some pain in there. Where my kidneys
are? Doc says they are lower on the back, but if it isn't kidneys, what
is it? Then again, as I might suggest, I'm not absolutely sure my
kidneys, or else, are placed normally. Why? Well, if nothing else,
when they did ultrasounding of my kidneys, after the bike accident, the woman
had the device higher, I thought, where I thought they were. Unless she
was looking at something else, on both sides of my back? Perhaps I
remembered wrongly, though I don't think so.
Oh, and... someone was calling me something? I've... been called
worse. Had to laugh. Even so, I did watch just because of course I
did. And? That would... explain some things.
My resistance to cold? Tolerating down to negative twenty, negative
forty most of my life, though, at altitude, neg twenty up here is probably
closer to negative forty at sea level? I'll check that before I finish
the post.
Oh, there are other indicators. My ability to live, with heart, kidneys,
and liver in stages between two and three of the failure ratings, sometimes
closer to four. For decades. I couldn't earn it, a living.
But given a living, I can, mostly, live. Painful, but... yes.
As well, my bone mass? At 12.7kg, when the highest I see typically
suggested is 8.5kg? Bone mass makes sense. Taller, but there are
no Neanderthals of pure blood, so only going to get a mix, a mutt.
Besides, I suspect some were taller, larger, much larger. Because they
haven't found them? The bigger ones would have been at the front of
attacks, on wild animals and enemies. More likely to die, and bloody,
and hard, and be left in retreats etc. Nothing new to that at all.
More likely to die, in general. For many reasons. The more
masculine, the more aggressive, etc.
Oh, and my lung capacity? I have been able to hold my breath for eight
minutes, even longer. And, with my lungs thirty percent impacted, the
fellow doing the test was impressed. Even at 65% capacity, I still had
more lung capacity than he did, at his full health. He had just gotten
to the clinic, and tested the equipment on himself the week before.
Different. As well, eyes. Something about my eyes... shows me to
be different from humans. So different they ran a test three of four
times, pulling in more of the clinicians, to watch, in amazement.
Different. Very different.
Actually, there are many features which compare favorably to the, possibly,
joke comparison. I'll take that. At one time, the idea would have
horrified me. As I have come to learn more, I suspect it isn't such a
bad thing. It... also would explain why I don't fit in as well?
Hmm... maybe. Funny thing is? While africans (generally, of the
black sort) have a smattering of all other genetics? They lack this
one. Interesting. And... that would... make sense in other matters
as well. Know yourself? Know your own? Some such.
Ah-ha!
Yes, but it is a bit confusing. If there’s no snow (or rain) falling from the sky and you’re not in a cloud, then the temperature decreases by about 5.4 degrees Fahrenheit for every 1,000 feet up you go in elevation. That is 9.8°Celsius per 1,000 meters in mathematical speak. However, if you’re in a cloud, or it is snowing/raining, the temperature decreases by about 3.3°F for every 1,000 feet up you go in elevation. That’s a change of 6°C per 1,000 meters.
So, roughly, generally speaking, minus inversions (which are common
hereabouts) and else? at (rounding up) 5k elevation, surrounded by
mountains at every end give or take, closer or further, mostly, looking at
twenty five to thirty degree difference. Now, I think he is speaking
measured. While I am suggesting that measured and felt are different,
and also alter by altitude. Or may, when when the winds are right, or
wrong, barometric pressure is low (most likely lower would increase felt
differences... probably), and dew point/humidity, would all play parts.
Probably other things, definitely other things, like cloud cover, actual
precip, wind direction, velocity, and origin (the gulf, ocean, or the pole, or
even rarely from the eastern interior). Yes... I... understand the
difference. All I am suggesting is... as above, so below, vertically as
well as horizontally. So hush it. :p
Anyway... I have been keeping the furnace up the last week or so.
Mostly. I forgot to turn it down last night, but usually turn it
down to 68 for bedtime, back to nearly bloodnose high during the day.
Just to... not be so bitterly cold as my health recovers. Love some
warmth, these days. Used to be a skivvy barbarian, in my home, in even
in the winter, most of the time. With temp set at 66, until that almost
caused a freeze, when electric went out for a day or so.
Though, I must admit, I like having it a bit warmer in the day, anyway.
At night, I don't mind it getting frigid, at least if I can get the blankets
and electric blanket, to get me warmed. Once warmed, in the nest, then I
become like a cast iron stove... throwing off tons of heat. Probably
light too. :p
Well... on to something. Hungry. Not sure I have anything.
could check the lettuce, see about salad. Or... cabbage, see if that is
any good. Chicken is thawing, but that'll be tomorrow, at best.
It's payday, so I am hoping to pick up a placket of steaks or two, and get
back to carnivore again this month. It's figuring out how to cook it,
inside or out, without too much fuss, trouble, or mess... that's... my
problem. Bleh.
No more sauerkraut. But I do have chicken breakfast sausages, and
beans. And more polish sausages. Beans aren't good for me, but I'm
so hungry. Will stretch the meat, and add flavor. Yeah.
I'll... get something shortly. HUNGRY! And, it can go in a pan, in
the oven, so being much easier to clean up from. And without spewing
oil, fat, grease, everywhere. Later.
