For no reason I can understand. I woke up a bit more than forty five minutes ago, right at eight. Having gone to bed a bit before five? Slept warm, if only because I added the electric blanket into the pile, and lit it for a bit. Yes, that helps. It got so cold so quickly that I haven't been able to adjust. Like a turtle, I need time.
Once snug as a bug, and warm as a hare after getting well ahead in a race, I slept fine. Though not much sleep isn't making me feel great, it'll do. I'll try to push through into the day a bit. Though may end up back in bed.
Ah, I know what woke me. The quarter sized wound on my leg, that just won't heal. Worse, it won't scab over now, again. Ugh. Plus, it hurts, as if being burned, or electrified? Throbs. Doesn't have any redness, or ickiness to it. It just hurts like the dickens. I put triple anti-biotic cream on it, and several layers of mesh patches, taping that down. The next time I check it, I'll go with dry mesh patches. I have tried full area seal bandaids, with and without ointment. The ointment doesn't allow a scab to form, or less so than without.
The trick is, in the summer it is warm enough to leave it open, let it air. In these colder months, it's just too cold on the feet and ankle (where the wound is) to do that. So I always have to have it covered. With a patch, bandaid, or at least sock. But with it not scabbing... a bare sock gets... gunky, quickly. Ugh. Stupid thing. I had been going to talk to the doc when next I was in, but I may call his nurse, see about... something. The pain is sometimes excruciating. Strange that there is no sign of infection. I clean it with iodine, too, from time to time. Shouldn't... be a problem, but it is.
Oh, and cool out there. It was 16 when I woke and checked right then. That is seriously cold for still October. I've seen freezing by Halloween, but not this cold, or for several days in a row now. This is hard winter here, now. I hope that isn't the end of any warmth, but it may well be. Could get pretty dark, stark, cold, and more. A foot, or two, in the mountains? Some mountains, not sure about the closer ones. Hard to get good, real, solid information these days. Colleges and "news" are... corrupted. They get paid to lie, really. Along with churches, it seems.
Tried to call my mother. She wasn't picking up. But, whatever they did, her phone is finally sending messages to her by name, rather than... some guy who had it before her. Ugh. She'll call later, or not. Who knows. She is slipping, a bit. Not full out, just... Well, when you are more eighty, just the weariness of it at times... Hell, when you hit MY age, at least with my health, exhaustion and mild confusion is a common coin of the realm. I'm not complaining. Just... noticing.
I hope she is sleeping well, and warmly. Or doing something she likes. Maybe even to church? Oh, if you can get to church. Go. Tell Father hello for me, and the other Two. Later.
