An hour becomes two, and with decent change.

.
.
Aerating and weeding went as planned, mostly.  I started on one, but found that mixing them would see what I needed weeded happen, make weeding easier, and get the aerating going right off.  I also moved the hoses for a new watering position for tonight.  Yeah, well, three days in the garden is, essentially, all of my experience.  It takes time.  Sure, you could tell me but it has to make sense to me.  I went from hoeing (useless or quite close to it, unless you merely loosen the soil and come back for the weeds, and roots really), to trying to simply pull, to today using that little hand rake/claw to loosen then pull weeds, while aerating.  That might be called... exponential growth through reason?  Not bad for a dead guy.

The thing is, getting to the garden seems to be the trick.  Do that and, having the time, the rest becomes history.  My native interest in perfection, work, and getting things done leads to extra time and as much care as I have.  A garden will take what you can give.  You have two hours?  It'll take that.  You have twenty hours?  It'll take that.  It will take anything you can give it and there will always be just a bit more you could do.  My repulsion to heat, and on the dark side to work, is what will keep me out of the garden.  Yeah, we all have it.

I need to set up the other timer.  If it works, fine, then one exchange, otherwise two simple returns, and the hose.  I might grab another 75' while I am at it though.  The 50' aren't quite what I had hoped/thought.  I will take my gear to swim, but I will see if I am up to it.  The first thing, in town, will be the hardware store(s), then on to the soap and rice.  After that I will decide on swimming or not.  I just don't want it to interfere with seeing my friend.  What he wants to do is a mystery to me at this point.  I do know, if he is up to it, getting out is key.  Anywhere, if he might have a couple of specifics in mind.  If I do swim I will probably ask to limit the foray to two stores and a meal, I suspect.  But if I have it, the sky is the limit.  I just don't know.

Loverly, really.  I might just end up doing at least a couple hours in the garden almost every day henceforth, if I've got it.  I'm just hoping my eyes come around.  No, still functional and all, but they feel as if they were parboiled, then toasted under the broiler until quite delicately tender.  Thankfully no toothpicks have been added.

An hour or two to cool down, get a shower in, air dry a bit more, then head to town.  Yeah, it's coming boys and girls.  Later.

  1. Makes me wonder how my potted garden is doing. I don't think I need to worry about water though. Everything is probably getting too much water and not enough sun.
Inxs, huh? So 80s .. lol .. I do like this particulate tune by them actually. The rest is meh .. But then I'm not that familiar with their music.
Ps. You need yourself some of those wrap around sunglasses that keep the glare of the sun out of your eyes.

  2. Yeah, the 80's. Actually I liked the 80's for many reasons. First, it was a wonderful end of the 60's and 70's. Polyester, disco, and much else. The 70's were blah, ugly, outrageous, stupid. The 60's were a step down from that. Both had no elegance, style, civil or social tastes... Then, I actually liked some of the trends. Big styled hair on women, harkening to much earlier periods. A soft side to the feminine became visible and enjoyed, at least by me (which sadly was lost to the 'thin hipped girl-child'/mannish look often seen today). Bleh. And, the music returned to some sanity, I thought. I liked some of the 60's and 70's stuff, but not much. Just my opinion, mind you.

Oh, yes, I have a pair. But I need to get another pair, just for the garden... or a new pair and use the old pair. I am thinking gardening will be hard on them. Don't need them for driving, it just... helps. But it's the heat as much as glare. I may try just saline eye drops. The other stuff leaches or prevents oxygen absorption.

  3. I never did the big hair. My hair wasn't meant to be big and poofy. I told my disappointed hairdressers to hold all those fancy hair products. This was the 80s in the south. Big hair ruled. :-)

  4. I meant to mention that I watched the la femme video.. Can't remember which post that was on though. I liked them! I listened to another song on YouTube and also liked it. Now if only I understood the lyrics. Je ne parle pas francaise.

  5. Oh, well, not every woman has to go for every trend, that's for sure. Becomes too Stepford like if every woman did the same thing. I prefer, as a male, to create trends. And in my day I did... if that wasn't the point. Bleh.

As for not understanding? How many songs, sung in English, do you honestly have no clue about. How much art, whether of statue or painting or other, do you also not truly grok, but enjoy? To be honest, Mona Lisa is, personally, a prime example. There is and isn't something/anything to it. Especially music combined with a seemingly contrary, or even dubious video? C'est la vie?

  8. For sanities sake, yall's and mine, I may go back to bundling videos every three or four posts. I myself am having... trouble keeping up. I certainly don't blame you for being lost.

I'm not pointing fingers, mind you. I can recall a dozen songs, in the last year, that I finally learned lyrics to (had been singing along with the wrong words, sometimes for decades). I absolutely butchered CCR's 'Run Through the Jungle', I recently came to understand, for example. *grins* It's not "lawyers can be so true" (lo it's all so true) or "Scotty was a nightmare" (thought it was a nightmare), or "Satan Christ vacays?" (never did quite get it, now I do, "Satan cries "Take aim"). It does make more sense, if I... always got the general picture. *laughs*

  9. Oh, and yeah, I was never into INXS either. I bought one of their... cassettes (bleh), back in the day. For me they were a one hit wonder, maybe with a few other good ones if I can't remember.

  11. Let 's try this again. I love ccr. John fogerty has a voice that could raise the dead. :-)

  12. So did Jesus, not sure that's always a musical selling point. Just... thinking out loud.

Lord knows, because I don't, why I haven't been struck my lightning yet. I have to think I do test... even the Big Guy.

I almost did not write that comment.

  14. It was a trap. I... could... not... resist! I'm so damn easy. Probably why God forgives my... indulgences. Women might be a gift from God, but from Lilith to Eve to Delila to... you... You are trouble as well. *laughs* Oh, sure, we play our part, make our choices to. Just... :p

I can almost hear a rumble when I push that line... "Damned Kids!", I hear in the wind. A sense that a massive head is shaking left to right, back and forth. If maybe the taste of a grin, to.

As to Fogerty? I have a love/hate relationship with songsters, especially of that age. It was a time of extreme excesses and those excesses were expensive to my beliefs. A lot of the anti-war stuff I took personally, especially when it was used to castigate my people. Personal.

It is said that Satan, Lucifer the morning star, the brightest light in heaven, was the angel of music, beauty, art, and some other things. I believe it. And yet, here we are listening to all sorts of things. My picks for here have become, usually, quite... specific. Save when it is merely a memory or part of something in the past otherwise. A ring of non-secular truth either about me or reality as I see things must exist.

  15. Ah haha.. No, it was not a trap, you silly man. .. :-)
I was worried I had offended you. But you seem to have more of a sense of humor then you claim to have. Mine is incorrigible..

  16. You could not offend me. Oh, well, I could take offense, but that is a quibble.

Hmm... When did I suggest I had no humor? Must have been one of the haiku things. Didn't I also write that you shouldn't believe everything you read here? Uhm, and... I think I was suggesting that the notion that "Doom" or "War" incarnate is supposed to have no such thing as humor isn't an actual truth (easy point to miss, the way I write)(which, obviously, is untrue... going with the blog theme and assuming my role in it anyway).

Oh, I laugh. I may cry, rent my clothing, don sack cloth, run around as a rat in a trap, threaten with truth, and all else... But I still think it, most of it, is funny as all get out. Pain isn't funny, gimping around and moping about it can be.

If you can't laugh at yourself... pick someone else. Me? I'm good with whatever comes up. Oh, dearheart, I do laugh. Loud, hard, heavy, and often. If generally I try not to be hurtful about it. That is just petty. If I need to be hurtful I stick with the truth. Which... I think is funny. Yes I do.
