Near, folks, not here... not yet. The head cold has fully turned into a standard cold. As well, it is eased. Much less sneezing, no real aches or pains, the moments of feverishness are much milder and happen much less often. I can't really figure out anything that helps much. Napping more often, and as heavily as needed, has been better. Not sure if that helped or just allowed me to sleep through the worst of it. Extra food doesn't really help, though I wonder if chicken soup would be good. I can't handle canned chicken soup all that well though. It's three levels of salt with weird noodles, more salt, and not much other flavor. I really ought to make chicken stock, keeping that on hand. You know, you can always condense stock, a little or lot. If you don't salt it, it won't compress to a salty mess.
Once you learn stock, if you hike or otherwise travel a goodly bit, there is a step further you can go with the reduction. I definitely would like to tinker in the arena. Figuring out how much to add to dehydrated vegetables and jerky to make some sort of soup or other. In one sense, it isn't fancy. In another, it really is. When weight, portability, and longevity are vital, these things can really make life easier. Oh, and I do have a steamer/strainer 36 quart container. I might go with two chickens, actually. Not sure if she used salt, many do. I won't. I will salt it to some degree while making soup, or even maybe at the table if that works for me.
Before all else, I really want to hit beef and chicken stock. Actually, if I can push on through, I want to hit the dishes, take a shower, then get to town. I have everything (though I will check before I go) for chicken or beef stock. Being that chicken stock seems the way I want to go I will probably just seek a good chicken, already parted, to add in. Perhaps noodles as well, egg noodles, for chicken noodle soup from the fresh stock. Yes, I could probably do cheaper by cutting my own chicken and making my own noodles. Though I doubt if quality will take a hit and I don't have my world ready to do those things. So...
I have started the dishes to a fresh soak. I am hoping to hit them in an hour. They will only need a rinse after that, then I can dry and put them up. A shower is required for a trip to town, and for sanity and serenity as well. Hmm, if I can get out soon enough, I may go in for another loaf of bread, to see me through some products and ideas, beside what I am doing with homemade chicken soup and stock generally.
Later.
