Wound care.

.
.
Being Friday, if I had meant to do it yesterday, I took off the main, better, dressing.  For now I just have gauze, regular ointment, a larger bordered dressing, and that covered by a shower dressing cover.  Well, and short compression socks on.  The idea is to get a shower in before long, then replace this temporary gig with the better wound dressing, adding the collagen matting and solution.

I can see the improvement.  It's a combination of things.  The matting and solution is being completely absorbed by my body.  When I first put it in, it's like a really thick.... dense I should say... gauze type material.  Wetted with the solution to give it a headstart.  When I change the dressing, now, there is nothing left.  My body is using that to create new flesh?  There isn't even anything to wash out!  It's just all gone.

That used to not be the case.  Compression, and more healing, have combined to make that work.  Though I wonder how much the collagen I am consuming with my morning fatted coffee is helping.  And, eating more regularly has to be helping.  All I am sure about is that the wound is looking better, by leaps and bounds, at this point.

I am hoping it will be closed up in a month, two at most.  Oh... it took a while to figure out what to do, how to do it, then to get it done.  But, now that it is going, it is going very well.  It is still a slightly horrific thing.  A wound, like that, for this long?  It bothers me.  So, if I can get this sorted out, I will be in a much better mental state.  It's always in the back of my mind.

As well, if I ever get a wound again, like it or like else, I know how to deal with it.  And will hit it with every hammer I can find.  If it's on the arm, and taking time, I'll find an arm compression system.  I'll tell you, that has made the biggest difference.  But, too?  You can't just do it sometimes.  You pretty much have to have it on between 18 and 22 hours a day.

I can use the larger one, which works the best.  But shorter ones work while I'm... trying to figure out how to push through for a shower.  Just... always something, the more comprehensive the better.  And... just a bit of time off, for good behavior, or if it just gets too much at night, while sleeping.  Almost dream I'm being et by an alligator, while wrestling that off at night.  Ugh.

I am still adding a few of these better bandages, each month.  Different sizes, and shapes to a degree.  With various sorts of adhesive, so the skin doesn't get as sore from just one sort or the other.  I'd still have to load up, over time.  But, what I have and am getting will give me a few weeks, maybe a month, for any particular size wound... excluding massive incisions, over four inches.  Well, and deeper wounds.  A sucking chest wound, or through and through shot elsewhere, sure.  As a temporary.  But not long term.  That takes more than I could do.  I even have a skin stapler, if that would work better.

Yeah, if you get a wound, and have diabetes, get on that fast and hard.  Beat on that like your limb depends on it.  I just got lucky, that it didn't get more than a moderate infection, twice.  Life is so oddly fragile, and yet, for one who should be dead, so... seemingly unendable?  Very odd.

It makes me wonder some things.  I'll write about it later.  From a dream combined with thoughts regarding the dream, after waking.  And, probably a group of dreams and post-dream brainstorming.  Yes, later.
