I am well on to the most page views in a month in my odd little blogging pursuit. I don't, as you probably know, uhrm... write to bring people in. There is haiku, but I have chased off any of the tootty fruity who may have wandered here thinking I was just being fashionably curmudgeonly. No, folks, it's for real. Some seem to still visit, very occasional, and a few regulars. But I don't write for them. I don't even write for me. It's not really reading material, mostly. Sometimes I get a tickle or enjoy a particular barb or burn now and again, but mostly this is just a place to clear the air, a crying room, a sounding board, or such.
I do look at the numbers. I also know they are very false. A large number who view here are not reported. Now, are those viewers real people, or just bots, government people, or... whatever. That I don't know. Actually, of the 1,700 pageviews I get, officially, a month, I don't know how many of those are real people, and not lawyers looking for copyright, or .gov keeping tabs, or V.A. employees paying attention to something other than my health, or... whatnot. I simply don't know. By comments, I would guess, for sure, if variably, I have between five and ten real readers, a bit more on haiku posts. Though some number of them are .gov, yeah... I know. I told you, I can see in the dark. But they aren't, mostly, from what I can tell, here on .gov biz, so... And I wouldn't care anyway.
Thing is, recently, Russian visitorship spiked. On one day I received over 176, or 185, pageviews! That's almost double my last record. Mostly Russian. And, I was getting, say... double the number of Russian visitors as Americans, which was a three fold increase. Hmm, something like that anyway. Don't quote me, just follow the gist. Then, a few days to a week ago, the Russians stopped. Full stop. Didn't see another until... yesterday? Today? Sleep has been screwy, so don't be to fussy. Very recently. Now the Russians are back up to their original numbers of visitors. But American visitations have increased to the highs that the Russians were at, or... pretty close. Just... weird.
I stopped using the monitoring services because they weren't very accurate, didn't count "foreign visits", and showed up as being untrustworthy in a variety of ways to check that. Basically, anything you see from the internet, from visitors, to data on those, to anything else? It's all subject to being jacked. Actually, don't think it could be, know it is being jacked. Still... there is an indication that something strange is going on. When you have nothing but time, but little ability to focus to try to dig through this all, you do what you can and just suspect, from time to time. Then ignore and go do something real... or... sit until you must sleep.
Later.
