Yes, always. Lots of naps. On the good side I am feeling much better. Whether my problem was doing too much too fast, the medicine change, heat, or some combination of all of those, I seem to be over the physical discomfort part of it. Now to get back on the 'bike and ride', literally and figuratively. Well, or hike. Hiking was my goal this week, or put in Doom terms, in my next exercise cycle. I will probably begin next week. Two or three hikes, with the pack and a hat. I will take one jug of water but I will also be taking my water purifier and testing it on river water. Oh, trust me, I will know if it is working. I had a goulash gullet from drinking unfiltered river water when I fell in while white water rafting for several weeks. Never did get diarrhea or any of that other stuff though, just a sore throat, as if it had been burned.
It doesn't help to be very broke, though, either. I am not sure how I lost track of finances so quickly. There was the gas to SLC, the books, some tools, but I can't remember anything excessive. These would be normal play money things. Without access to online banking, which I need to remember to check shortly and see if it works now, it is difficult to know where I am tossing money down what holes. Of course, any time my bank seems to make it difficult for me to check my account, I wonder what they might be up to. No, I don't trust banks. Beside the number of little bankers who would steal if they got half a chance are the big bankers who would manipulate accounts. They have gambled fortunes away. They are in trouble, both as individuals and as institutions. Trust not the seemingly wealthy beggar. He'll kill you a lot faster than the obviously poor one will.
Chesterton does have some quite interesting notions regarding feminism, suffrage as he usually terms it. But never you mind, he also notes men's failings as well. And, yes, it's still a gas. Neither of the sex is terribly admirable, either in his or my eyes. However, there is a reason for tradition. There is a reason things are the way they are. And he explains, quite well, why men are on the losing end of this war. Something I don't think he realizes is that men are now fighting a two pronged war. The traditional battle against apron strings and the call of women's whiles and the surrendered women, who finally agree that men were right all along so much so that they wish to join us. On any occasion, a man can never know which of those two anarchists he is presented with, or whether both are present. Women speak so mildly as to not even be able to give up 'their hand' as it were, even while being unable to maintain a poker face or attitude. Bah! Not that I don't love the game in any case.
Hmm, more reading, another nap, some checking on finances, a longer sleep, then maybe something tomorrow. Oh, wait, I have promised pizza to 'the boys' tomorrow. Oh, I have a few dollars and this and that floating around. I can do that, and probably get a bit of groceries purchased, plus another tank of gas and the haircut. But it is just... so tight. I hate months like this. Later.
