Sometimes it is easier, in good times. Sometimes it is a brutal struggle. Sometimes it is misunderstood. Sometimes it brings joy, or laughter.
To all of you who know it and share it, and in the same fashion you present it. I share it forth in like fashion. Oh, and if you think it is I who is in need of schooling, share it your way.
I do my best. You may do your worst. Yeah, I don't always get it, neither do you. Just... trust me once in a while. I'll try to do the same.
Another little mood gift.
When it comes to love, they can have all the PBR they want. Just don't come after my ales and stouts ..
ReplyDeleteBu... bu.... bwahahahaha! Oh I laughed.
ReplyDeleteYou amaze me sometimes. You are like an onion. Well... maybe that is me. You? An onion cake?
Sure.. Why not. Onion cake makes sense since a 'zwiebelkuchen' is a southwest german delicacy from my neck of the woods. It's a hearty fall dish served with new wine .. :-)
ReplyDeleteEw! I do love new wine. Yeah, well, I'm not a good Catholic, might not even be human, so why would I be a perfect ogre? Yep, new wine.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I never would have guessed about the zwiebelkuchen. Funny how much I make up just is. Then again... someone has probably done almost anything, at least once. Sounds interesting though. I do actually love onions as well. You went and made me hungry. Oh... right... food is here. Gah! Memory is terrible lately.
As with all good edible things sometimes .. Too much ziebelkuchen and new wine make for interesting digestion, but I think ogres would like that aspect.
ReplyDeleteThis comment doesn't require me to be all that awake to answer. You would be amazed what I can get away with eating, drinking, or... both... and have nary a hiccup. Beans? All save some canned beans, most of which I don't like anyway (those sweet "baked beans"), broccoli, old (pretty much bad) meat, or fresh meat... doesn't matter, pickled foods and beer, lots of scotch, sardines, and just about any mix you can imagine. If it causes others gas, or upset, even bad breath, there is a good chance I won't even flicker. Down. Yum. Through. No problem. Habanero doesn't heat up anything but the lips to literal stomach. Alright, frying cheese in a cast iron skillet, and eating pretty much just that for a week... has... clogged things... a bit. If I still think that would put some people in the hospital.
ReplyDeleteBut, if you ever want to see a true ogre in gastronomical glory, bring it on! I wish I could share this attribute. It makes both food, and survival 'out there' much much easier.
I'll leave you to your gastronomical glory. Ziebelkuchen just brought back memories of my aunts warning of over consumption of a good thing .. :-)
ReplyDeleteHa! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried Onion cake (nor have I tried green tomato pie . . . both of which sound interesting).
ReplyDeleteFried green tomatoes is on my list, but I haven't even heard of pie. I'll try almost anything, even stinky or crawly cheese (expensive, and illegal in the states, as is haggis, which I also wish to try), at least once. With or without a pairing of alcohol.
ReplyDeleteIf you're going to try haggis then you're a braver man than I am. Let me know how it turns out if you ever get around to it.
ReplyDeleteI came across green tomato pie in the course of reading one of Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe adventures, and I immediately looked up the recipe. Sounds rather tasty. I also haven't tried fried green tomatoes but that's also on my list.
(I also looked up the recipe for Onion Cake . . . or Zweibelkuchen . . . and it definitely looks good, although I suspect I'd be the only one in the house who eats it.)
I wish I could claim bravery. I am just hungry. I always was, but when it became impossible for me to feed myself even daily, something has made me even hungrier. Even when fed, at times, I am in a perpetual state of hunger.
ReplyDeleteThat's also part of why I get a bit finicky about people who try and push only one sort of food, say organic, or non-gm, or whatever. They are rich, healthy, and lucky enough to be picky. I'm closer to a poor third-worlder, so food is a touchy topic. My rib meat feels like it is peeling off, from hunger. Today is a prime example... I just... can't... get to it.
Not brave, just hungry as a bear in springtime. Hmm, add in some artsy fartsy notions of food, and... Liver ice cream sounds good! :p But I have eaten a huge variety of foods and... questionable items. Not all will get eaten again.
