Exploring forgiveness with poetry.

.
.
A rough week, and more.  Haiku seems to be slipping as my grasp on the conscious.  Yet some have sallied forth, digital alphabeticists and mental gymnasts, tripping, stumbling, tumbling, and pirouetting over the notion set as theme, with limits given.  I do enjoy, even the judging now.  Much like a master chef who is allowed a discerning sampling of all that is sent from his kitchen, I too taste the sweet or savory that passes through my editorial blogger enclave.  Relishing the nectarous poetry as I set to pick, a favor for and to the master of ceremonies.

These are the poems.  Those in bold are my choice candidates, italics next.  Listed in the order they arrived.  I do like to see them all, together, open and available, if I have the time and energy.  This part is never simple.  I look for what I know, for what I don't know, what I believe, what I trust, and what seems true.  I look for unique thoughts, differing takes, and...  I don't know.  I sometimes don't know it until I see it.  Even then, as with love, it is not always so plain to see at first blush.  It blossoms with familiarity.  Even then, is one ever sure?  Am I sure.  Where you sure when you wrote?  Are we sure?  Can we truly be sure?  I don't know.  I don't think so, not about most things.  But there it is.

foam,
Ulcers eat away..
The laundry lists grow longer
Both sides need to chill..

Love needs acceptance
Love needs patience, forgiveness
Hot make up sex helps .. :-)

Karl,
Contemplating act
Better to ask forgiveness
Than for permission

becca,
words thrown in anger
slicing with icy fingers
forgiveness needed

forgive and forget
ones smile hides the pain, mask
memories remain

Amanda Geering,
Got another text
Glass Smashing as I Rear End
Shameful Tears are Shed

Rafael,
Not what's said, but done
Love thy self... forgive... reflect
Loose the doors unhinged

As dusk approaches
Do not fear, ma' Dear. Rejoice!
Forgiveness awaits

Walked on...back, then forth
One too many passes swept
Know your footsteps well

Serendipity,
Blizzard lashes long.
Mother Nature forgives not;
prepared/unprepared.

Next is to pare them down.  I shall have three places.  I always like more.  Dancing around so many fires.

3rd Place- Karl (oops!)
Contemplating act
Better to ask forgiveness
Than for permission

2nd Place - foam (always and forever)
Love needs acceptance
Love needs patience, forgiveness
Hot make up sex helps .. :-)

1st Place - Rafael (devilish to know, innit)
Walked on...back, then forth
One too many passes swept
Know your footsteps well

I should add, forgiveness is not required.  It depends on those who sin against you requesting it in hearnest.  While I might recommend against the following song, precisely, I can see it.  Just, for your own sake, if you can't forgive at least let go and forget.  Or, not.  Always your choice.

  2. Thank you, foam. Even a bit skunked sometimes, as now, I enjoy doing this. And I love to give a little something back. Who knows if others, beside you, actually enjoy. It is the hope.

Just know that the difference between them, sometimes, is so very slim. I think it would surprise some how close the call can be, up and down the line.

  3. You know, I hear my ears to the bone to find just the right pieces. I am pleased you are so partial to fiddling, dancing, and fire. Bon appetit.

  4. You're a fascinating cat, Doom! Love careening through your thoughts of consciousness.

There are so many roads to and from forgiveness, as can be seen from the many different points of view presented. Twas a perfect theme to bring me from my own bit of skunkedness.

Thanks for the inspiration & the nod. I'm gnawing on some thoughts and hoping to get a visual out of my lame self, but should be up Thursday/Friday'ish...

Congrats to Karl and Foamy (and everyone, really). Awesome week of 'ku's done by all!

    Blessings:D

  5. Rafael,

The world is never as it seems, I just reflect that? Something. Good to see you wield words, and preparing to lead the charge. I am certainly looking forward to your contest.

Forgiveness... Like mercy or love truly seems only valuable when shared. I still agree with the first song, we free ourselves, not others.

Thanks all, for showing up and daring. I certainly enjoyed the show.

  6. Good afternoon Doom,

A fine effort, both hosting and a write up. Thank you for having us. Thank you for the honorable mention as well. Well done Foam.

Congratulations Rafael! It's likely to be a hot time in haiku land this week.

  7. Karl,

Thank you much, fine sir. I do hope to return some entertainment for all the work others put in. While I can do little else in life, at times and recently, at least I can do this. So it does please me if you enjoyed.
