Watering the lawn, I am about half way through. Oh, wait, I have to water the back yard as well. Strike that. Make it a third the way through. All good. I may not be working for a while, just too hot. I can study. At least it is something. I probably never will learn Japanese. That won't stop me from putting in the time. I have almost nothing else I can do, for the moment. And often, whether too hot, too cool, or weather is changing too quickly.
As well, with the slide rule, I will be practicing things like logs and their rules, trig and it's rules, algebra is sort of an easy, almost invisible, part of the simplest of slide rule actions. You know x and y, but need to find some relation between them, or vise versa. I want to study these areas, just not quickly. No need. This, for now, is simply a hobby. I am too old and ill to make it mean anything more, and in these times, there is absolutely no current value to the hobby. Probably won't be in my lifetime. Actually, the same for Japanese, even should I somehow climb my way to N1 (I think their highest score for their language... the offer (or used to offer) testing in Japan and over seas. Though... I always wonder if the testing is more than it seems. We aren't the only one with a CIA, etc.
I would do more, but it is just too hot during the days. I just can't do it. And my sleep is beginning to slide. In part because of going out as a rider, helping keep a man who works way too much awake. Not that it is much, but it does actually tire me out. And it does keep me up later, especially when I have to water. No, I don't mind. It, too, adds value to my life, and some one else's. It's as much as a cripple can hope? I think so. I've tried for more. It... there isn't more. It's that or nothing.
Dang alarm! I was sure I had set it. Oh well.
I just wish it would cool a bit! It clouded over again, but is refusing to drop any real moisture. Oh, tidbits, droplets on very rare occasions, but not enough to cool, or probably even hit the ground. What we could use is a good half inch, and cooling, several days in a row. Our reservoir is in reasonable shape, but some more south in the valley will be cutting off water soon. And the massive dams to the south are being replenished from emergency releases from dams which would otherwise remain closed themselves.
The only good to come out of it is California will have to make... other arrangements. Hopefully. Between electricity problems, water problems, the fleeing middle class (or what remains of it), fires, and their politics, California is going to have to make serious choices. Is it to be genocide? Or are they going to allow the people's votes to actually be counted? I... think the only way Cali will change is if the people revolt.
Then again, to be honest, I don't think any state, certainly the federal government, isn't instructed by citizens. We no longer have a vote or voice. I don't know what will happen, but I... would be watching for it. Running for the hills? Tinfoil hattery? Watch your forty, and see what is coming. It isn't just myself who is in trouble. No one in your government even wants you alive. You aren't needed, wanted. Who is running those departments, now?
Not much I can do. I'm as pinned to my little bare life as a moth to a collecting board. Not much I could do, even if I say them coming a thousand miles away. Though, I think running, if you aren't a fighter... you'll just die tired. And I don't think many of you can run. Drive? Okies. Where to? I'm hoping for a few more years, so I can die without seeing it. But who knows. Especially with slow Joe and Poke face impersonating lead officials.
Grumpy. But... Well... It's late. In more ways than one. Enjoy your delusion. For when it breaks, it won't just be your flesh you have lost. It'll be everything. Amen.
