I suppose if I want to recover I did too much yesterday. Wonderful! No, I mean it, mostly. I woke several times in the night, then upon waking this morning, all with one similarity. It hurt. What hurt? Hmm... imagine you are a dimwit, you have a broken finger, and you use it to point out parts of your body. Yes, everything hurts. It has smoothed out a bit. As well, I am going to take some pain pills. It's just aspirin, even so I don't dose often. Certainly not every time it hurts, not even when it all hurts. Once in a while, though, a dose will do. Today is that day.
Today? I have already been working on another list. In making stock, to this point, I haven't used mirepoix. Or other aromatic combinations. Carbs was my main complaint. I have been thinking about things. First, I need more carbs than 20. I just do. I have heard 80 to 100 as a more reasoned approach. That might even be a bit tight, but it is a more reasoned, reasonable, target. I will kick the tires and see. Salads, beans (from dry), whole rice, and sour dough... especially if I grind my own wheat, or sprouted wheat. I do need more carbs, just a lid on them and the right ones. As well, I kept thinking... since the veggies are removed, just how many carbs are left in the stock? To be honest I have no clue. I am sure a bit of research would make it as clear as mud, at least initially. The thing is, both the need for, and the probably slight addition, means that mirepoix should be just fine, so I've added those for my next stock fixings. In time, my goal is to have a gallon or two of at least two types of broth always on hand... for soups, for sipping, for casseroles.
The rest is for food or cooking related, mostly. I suppose fluorescent tubes in the kitchen is cooking related, to a degree. This time I will get many of them. I'm not sure which to get though... full spectrum, or yellow, or... I will go with two sets of each, I suppose. Though I may research what others prefer. In winter it might help to have full spectrum? Some say yea, some say nay. The lamp never helped, but it was good lighting for reading. I also keep missing light olive oil. But that is actually somewhat difficult to find! It is what I prefer in my bases, such as mayo or aoli. Extra virgin has it's place, but it's really not in those things. A few other things for making homemade dressings and a grill top. Grill top?
Yep. As I move more to steak I have been reviewing methods of cooking steak. Actually, there are two different videos which I intend to use together. One would do, but they go about it using a sous-vide system. I neither have, nor will purchase, such a system. It has it's uses, but is really more useful for commercial settings. While it seems expensive, having just bought a stove I don't see much difference. It is just another system. Though, if I were to buy another major cooking system, it would either be a wood burning stove or a gas range and oven. Or... first. If I was truly wealth, before I gave it all up, I would try these various things. I just... I want to know. I am curious. Why I want a grill face will become apparent in the first video.
I wonder and sometimes worry. Herein lie those ponderings with perhaps some editing but still in their truer forms. Whisper as well, though in truth, whispers are just that, rustlings in the wind and nothing more. It is kind to not be alone with one's own whispers.

What could be done was done.
.
.
The post office, a meal, envelopes for returning items, the hardware store and a chat with the guy in appliances. How to level appliances was the question. I have never done that. A way. But, doing it solo is going to be the trick. Being larger than usual helps, but just. It may or may not be possible. I have an idea of how to do it, some levels, and the parts for the washing machine drainpipe. Then on to groceries. That'll do, if it wasn't all.
I simply could not finish off and take care of returns. It would have meant finding scissors to cut the labels, and tape... both were at home. At least I remembered, and filled, the list I had written. Always seems that something is forgotten. I just wasn't interested, perhaps even able, to push on through with that. I can't this afternoon either. Perhaps when I wake I will be able to get everything packaged, labeled, and ready to go. There was something else I wanted to do while in town, but what? I need gas, but I thought there was something else.
Yeah, it wore me down. Which is fine. I want it to do that. It would be nice if I would recoup a little faster though, and not quite fall so hard when I push after falling. Ugh. Oh, but... I don't know. Sometimes I have such a good day, meeting quite friendly women. Today I had a splendid day that way. Why? Does it mean anything? Was I reading correctly? I'll tell you, I think so. Heck, granny, aunty, and niece all... well... And they weren't bad, for their perspective. Even had a little cross jealousy kill looks going on when they realized the others where doing similar. Maybe they were just killing time goofing with an ogre. A tall dame out there, and some others. Some not so much, some quite... friendly. I do enjoy.
I took what was offered and ran with it. I'll make it back in tomorrow, probably. I need to get that stuff moving back. And I want gas in the tank, especially in winter. I can get to the drain pipe any time. I have to be in town, at exact hours, to return things. Ugh... I am terribly shot. I think I'll be heading to bed very shortly. Good afternoon and good night.

Getting there.

Getting everything in order is tricky. I'm just not back in shape. Still, when given a hand up, I'll take it. I've been offered several recently. I'll take it. First things first, I wrote a list of things needed or wanted. Grocery and hardware included. I've been checking it since, adding a few items so far. If I am in town, and remember something else, I'll add it even then. I have the returns together and ready, though I will need shipping slips for some of them. Yeah, we will see.
I remember to print the return materials out. Took a shower and dressed. I keep checking outside to see if anything else has started. It's that time of year, and that sort of weather. The post office will be visited first. If they have shipping sleeves I'll buy some there. I know I have at least one package, or group of packages really, in. Maybe more.

With a stove back in availability, and limits on what is available this morning, along with some youtube views, I decided to try fish broth. Banito flakes, several types of seaweed for various stages, heated water, fermented bean paste, and a bit of time... well and some specialty tools... produced breakfast. Tasty? Not so much. It is rich, it tastes like fermented fish, it is thick, but it is, has to be, and acquired taste. I added a bit of whole cream, which did cut it a bit. Even so, between being an acquired taste and all else, I wasn't able to consume much. And, yet, I will, most likely, try to consume this a few times a week, as an alternative to regular bone broth. Here is one way to do it. I added a certain type of seaweed for brewing, but not eating, miso. Then I added another type of seaweed that is for flavor and consumption (if I ended up straining it out, I just couldn't do it). All else was the same. I am thinking, if I cut out the seaweed, and work on the amound of chips, I can probably make it much milder, at least for the start so as to build up tolerance.

Waking up sore.
.
.
Things have improved. It has been that I would wake up sore, be sore off and on through the day, then as bedtime arrived I would become pained again. I am down to, mostly, waking up sore.
Even so, I wanted to see if it was still snowing. If it wasn't, I wanted to see how much snow had fallen to prep for shoveling shortly. It... was gone? Had it melted? The snow seemed to remain elsewhere. I couldn't... focus, at first. So I had to look front, then out the back door. Someone(s) had shoveled. I must admit to being quite grateful.
I won't waste the hand up. A shower is my next thing. That might help with the pain. Some painkillers right now, as well. Some tea, cold. For whatever reason, at 66F in here, I am almost too warm. I think as my body builds muscle from what I have torn my body heats excessively. I am guessing I tore things all over my body in my haste. My biceps, which I had thought I got to 15 sometime back, but hadn't... and admitted it? Are now nearly 16 inches. Pretty anemic, but compared to a bit over 14, it's improvement. No, I haven't been working out, not even the hand exercises, not for months. Hey! I actually DO have 16" guns. *grins*
The goal of the shower is to be ready to roll into town this morning. Parts to buy, groceries too, and returns. I have four things to send back through the line. I think, from now on, when I buy eggs for mayo, I am only buying a small pack. Those eggs don't seem to last well in the fridge, as do my usual eggs. They just don't. I like having eggs that will last two to four weeks, in the fridge. I really want and need the freshest for raw egg applications, but I don't need that for everything. I may wrap those in clear foil, both type, to see if that helps, as well. My fridge has the smells of a decade or two of use, and refrigerators are what they are... they smell. I may move to buying a new one every four to five years. Used vehicles, new fridges... that's a change.
Hmm... Oh, and I think I may order some ribeyes. That'll probably be my main meal meat three to four times a week. A thick cut, say inch and an half. Meat doesn't seem to last well in the freezer. The pork did though. Lamb won't last long enough to test. But beef goes a bit off a bit quicker, or this seemed to do so. I think I'll go with half a beef, and make sure to give a decent amount of that away. Four to six months is about as long as I like beef in the freezer, if this is normal. Then again, my taste buds are very off. Not sure what is up with that. Gum might be... doing something weird.
Oh, and hush. I am not complaining, casting aspersions, or any such. I am just saying what is on my mind. I might be right, I might be wrong, I might be singular. I simply... don't always know. Which... is part of why I write, to figure things out, get feedback, ruminate. If I have a... beef with you? *cough* You will know it. And... I don't even have a beef with the guy who forgot to get the parts for the appliances needed for installation. Oh, I am sure he knew. I just suspect it was company policy not to help in that manner. Job openings are tight, so you do what you are supposed to do. Like it? Who wakes up on any morning, cleans, dresses, and goes out into the cold, because they like it. Food, family, if there is some desire it is run over by the needs of a family, trampled into duty, and much more rigorous for it. I don't hate a man for... reality. Though, perhaps, it was an oversight. I'm just not buying that. I just, as mentioned, at this point, don't mind.
Well, perhaps some waking, a few painpills, and... I don't know. A shower as soon as I can. No breakfast. I will let someone make that for me in town. It's been a while since I stopped in to several places. I may stop in to one of my old haunts this morning, or go to a new one. Dunno. Later. And... thanks for the shoveling. That sure opened some doors for me.

Longer than I expected, shorter than hoped.
.
.
It is nearly 16:00, an hour and change short. All good. The oatmeal didn't crash me, it's just time, and change. I couldn't really taste the oatmeal but I can sense it. I didn't need to eat much of it. A potent food, more so when soaked beforehand. I haven't looked to see how much snow came down, if it stuck, if it's still falling. I just... haven't. I will, as I go to bed. I haven't showered either. I just... it's not pain, or exhaustion, or... just a malaise. More, I think, of spirit than of flesh. It'll improve before long. The flesh is on it's ways to being better.
Have a good rest of the day. I sure wish I could be awake along with you. So it goes. Good night.

Oh, well, yes. A little disappointing. And yet not really. Shoveling isn't really a problem. If all else fails I am set to wait things out in here, if I don't see that being the problem. If I am stuck here, it is more due to simply still being a bit drained. It is just that I hate to watch the work I did undone.
I still haven't gotten a shower in. I'm beginning to slow down. I may go to bed in several hours, or sooner. It's not a terrible exhaustion I face, just... It's nearing my bedtime. I would like to push until 17:00, I just am not sure I have that in me. I have oatmeal soaking, and may have that for dinner. Along with cream and maybe one of the sugar substitutes.
It's so odd. So very hungry and yet not really able to eat. If you can't taste food you just don't want to eat it. I may turn to steaks as a more common food. Along with salads, plus several other things. Hamburger... I just... it's okay but it gets very old very fast. I need to add a bit more been, rice, and some other things into my diet. But those have to be kept to, say, a cup every other day. It's difficult to cook so little, to be honest. Cooking more is a temptation. Hmm... I'll think about this.
Later, or perhaps, more like probably, good night. If I eat the oats and that gets to me, I may go down fast.

While I was hoping for the middle, as beat up as I have been it was just a hope. A far-flung one, sent on the slimmest of prayers or maybe not even a prayer. God knows I hurt, He also understands physics, my lack of fitness, my illness, and the rest. No, I wasn't going to ask for something improbable. Still, here it is, mostly. And why I didn't nap, or collapse, sometime between waking and now I can't say. As rough as it was there, off and on, for most of the earlier morning, I just... almost noon and I will probably be up until early evening.
I noticed the snow out there earlier this morning. I looked at it, then looked away, and then left the notion of the whole idea. Being as rough as I was, seeing more work literally piling up was just too much. As it neared 11:00 though I thought, perhaps, I could shovel then make it to the post office at least. I suppose, technically, I could. But I want a shower before I go out again. I need a shower. Which precludes the post office. Now I might well be able to make it to town, later, for shopping and parts, or not. I don't know. I, again, would have to get a shower in. Actually getting a shower is my primary next step... after a bit of a break.
Shoveling didn't even bother me. I did it all in one go, just breaking a few beads of sweat not even at the end but right as I was sitting to begin this post. Yeah. Pretty cool actually. I don't think that is normal. There are men my age who don't have any illness who can't do this. It wasn't the heaviest snow, or the deepest, but it is a long wide drive with a small walk as well. Add that to what else I have been doing and it really is something. Yeah, a shower.
I made eggs this morning. They just didn't taste good. They should be fresh enough. It just didn't seem to matter. I cooked them right. Perhaps I simply don't have much taste for food these days. I did eat, probably, about an egg and maybe a fifth of a cup of cheese. The rest I simply tossed. Nothing seems to taste good. I have meat thawing, but, to be honest, not even that tastes good. It seems more solid, so... fills me better? I still can't eat all that much. Not even the lamb chops have much going for them. There are benefits, I certainly won't eat too much. But I do need food. Hmm, I may see if the lettuce is any good and if so have some of that. If the lamb chops are thawed, that would go very well with the salad. Later.

She asked me to let her go. I told her that I have no claim or promise from her. It seems, to her mind, I do. I told her I could not relinquish my want of her, or love for her as it stands, because it is real. Wise? What love IS wise? There is a wisdom in love, a right love, but it mostly isn't ours to own or claim. As a woman who is beautiful, if she lords it over others, she loses some of the content of that. As with a man who is strong who boasts it may reduce himself to that. The wisdom of love is something of the divine. It can be enjoyed, or endured, just not claimed. No, there was nothing I could do for her. And, should I believe she might be willing, or interested, I would pursue. I just don't see that.
Then I was at church. Some of the women were not happy to see me. Feminism had corrupted much. Whispers behind my back, one of them snidely asked how vegetarianism was going for me. It was an anti-virtue signaling marker rather than anything to do with a diet I obviously do not entertain, let alone support for others. Then I saw some woman, partially dressed in vestments, and I through sheer presence frowned on the event and disapproved. The corruption of Vatican II will fall or the church will dissipate. It's not so much a choice of the church as a matter of reality. Women cannot be priests. Abortion is always evil. Some things just are the way they are. I am hated by the feminists in the church, and because of their influence, I do not go often. I still need to begin attending some things, but not in places where feminism has been allowed to fester, or even is allowed serious say. Don't even point fingers.
To be honest I am not sure if anything has changed. If a great calamity still occurs, perhaps the reins are in better hands. Time will tell. You cannot create a fraudulent economy, then keep it going so far beyond functional truth and for so long without a major failure. It isn't just the US, the whole world has colluded in order to keep the rich rich and the poor in place, even creating more poor so as to balance that against the extremely wealthy. It not only won't, it can't work. Though, as with all hard things, the sooner the better. But those who will lose, and that is the ones in charge to now, do not wish to lose. Then again, nobody wants to lose, even if all they get is redistribution and low-rent quota positions. Oh, have no worries, I will lose more than most. Just, possibly, everything. Still, I know it has to happen.
Hmm? Some pain pills, maybe some gaming if I can't get back to sleep right away, then sleep when it can be had again. I have truly ripped muscle, stressed bone, and am now paying the price. I haven't done this good in decades. But I do need to rest.

Serious pain.

Pushing that far in I knew the extraction would be uncomfortable. I am not at all surprised, after resting for days, to just now be hitting my stride in the extraction of pains. Arms and chest and legs, like after the first week of football practice. I had worse, I just can't remember those things. Boot camp was actually worse, but not all physical. It was the regimen, the hours, with the physical added in as a component and not the heaviest component by far, so there was no real recovery, in that, for me.
I have set up the bed so that it is warm enough, and more. That should help with recovery. Until last night, or the night before, I can't recall, I had been sleeping with just a cover sheet and two blankets. I never was warm at night. I think that was setting recovery back. All I added was a heavy top cover-blanket but it worked. Now I have to add and remove layers through the night, but I do get warm and stay warm. I believe recovery will be quicker now. And I should sleep more deeply.
I need to begin cooking again. I have had this and that to get by eating. It's getting long in the tooth or is simply gone now. So, back to it. I don't know if I said, but I won't be using my cast iron on the stovetop anymore. I will use it in the oven. The problem is oil seeps to the outside and bottom of the pan, making it almost impossible to cook cleanly. Which is fine. I have several good stainless and 'teflon' type pans for regular use. To be honest I don't think they are as good as cast iron, much more difficult to cook with, harder to truly keep clean, but they aren't messy to the stove to cook with. Thing is, if these pans get a scratch in them, you really have to change them out. That is some seriously bad to eat stuff that scrapes off. I can test out, more thoroughly, the high carbon pans though. If they work like cast, as has been suggested, but don't bleed out oil, they might work better.
For right now, mostly, other than cooking as required, I am still down for the count. Another day or two and I hope I can begin doing more. I need to make some returns, get the washing machine going, and buy groceries... before everything closes down for Christmas. Ugh. I want to go back to bed but I am not sure I can. A few more hours would get me in line to maybe work back to a regular day schedule. Oh, and I need to go to the post office, which is doable even if I do nothing else as to getting out. Later.

Should, could, would, won't.
.
.
I am, at times, baffled as whether to post or not. Oh, yes, I really go back and forth. A recent post has been put up, taken down, and repeatedly. I have decided to just leave it up, finally. If I am still not sure I should.
It is about time for a nap. Or more. Some items have arrived which make eating certain seafood much simpler. I have taken enough for my use out and left the others for a visitor. In case I am not awake later, or tomorrow, or whenever. Lobster is on the way, I suspect. I haven't received a notification, but that stuff is sent and is supposed to make it in a day or less, if all is accounted. We will see. It's not an every year thing. Not even a once a year thing. It is just a thing.
I am still tired, deep down. I think the cool is adding to it. Which is fine, mostly. I have the time to rest. I have some items to buy, some returns to make, and groceries to pick up. Soon, I hope. Tonight, tomorrow, the next day, I just don't know. I have tried warming the cave, but it just... When I am this tired I may not be able to break through the cool. I'll keep at it.
Yes, nap or sleep time. I have done what little I can. I sure hope to get going on the drain as I would really like to get going on the laundry, then the rest of the cave. I am excited to finish up my bedroom, redo the spare bedroom, arrange the rest of my clothes that are still to be washed, then hit the kitchen, bathroom, and then living room. I am hoping to have most of it done by New Years. At worst by February. While I have a hog coming in then, I would like to get a plumber in as well.
I want to have all mechanical, plumbing, and minor electrical problems solved by next December, then begin deciding about whether the kitchen floor is next, or whether I should spend the money to get the en suite done... if I really can't get in and get going on that. Bleh. I have some hope that I can get the en suite myself. The kitchen floor, though, I don't think so. Even if I go with rubber matting or some other easy to do, but good on the feet and leg material, that can be rolled out. I may need sub-floor replacement on some of it. Yeah... Anyway... I'll be keeping at it, when I can get back to it and when I can keep at it.

Wear black much?
.
.
He asked as if it didn't need answered. He asked whether I had been wearing it since a young child. He simply doesn't understand. I wear black often, these days, if more as a lark. And... even he should know. Yeah, he has to know. I've told him if he doesn't want to see, don't look. And yet he sees, which means he looks.

Back to sleeping as needed.
.
.
Much sleep is needed. All good. Plus, I am pretty sure, I will soon be back to it. Not heavy, hard, and fast, but a reasonable pace, and very possibly starting to day though may not until tomorrow. The first task I will do, when I begin, is to go to town and find the parts I need, do a bit of shopping, and begin again from there.
My body isn't sore so much as tight. It feels more like setting concrete than iron, at the moment. But I remember this from during football practices, and later, during times when I would come off easy periods. Most people don't ever actually work to the point where they take a break and come back to it like this. Then again, in part I am doing this because I have been doing so little for so long. That I recognize it, though, that is the tell.
I hope to work this to where I have some level of functional fitness. I'm not looking for a return to the fitness I had in the service, or even high school sports fitness. I simply have no need of that much. It was a bear to keep up, costs a lot in food, and all such. Still, I want to be in much better shape. I am getting there. I just don't know where the limits, or possibilities begin and end. Sometimes I don't have as much of a choice, either. Though I am learning to push through hard times, and make it on through to some point as needed beyond where I thought I could go.
My stove is not balanced. I will be looking at how to do that. It really isn't easy to do, definitely not alone. I may have to see if I can set it up for easy work, have everything ready, then ask someone for a hand. I will need to do the same with the washer and dryer. Yes, it... makes a difference. Just for cooking, having the fat leave one part of the pan untouched is a bad thing and annoying.
Still, for now, and until I am better, if I need sleep I will have sleep. I might even toss in extra sleep just because I think it could be useful. Waking just before two could turn into a very long day. A nap might be good in six hours or so, for example. Want it or not, of mind, I think my body might just take it, knowing what else I have planned.
I hate doing little, but for now I don't have all that much choice. Hmm, back to reading maybe? I need to find something more for when I can do little. I have even considered legos, or other such. Especially a motorized kit I can make more than one project through. Though, sometimes, when this tired, even using the mind is too taxing. Reading, for example, can be too much, or in the past. I'll think on it. Later.

Sleeping as needed.
.
.
I pushed a little hard. So, now, I sleep when my body wants to rest. I went down around noon. I thought I might be able to just pull off a nap. Not so much. A call saying dinner was arriving woke me at about 19:00. At about 21:00 I do believe I'll have a big glass of water and go on back to bed. Turkey was quite good. Some can cook turkey right, some can't. This was right. Moist, done, tasty.
My arms arrived, as well as a few other items. I am well pleased. If there is anything else I purchase yet, it might be a normal sized katana, which would be, for me, a bo katana. Probably. Though such a purchase is probably years off. The dagger is shorter than I thought it would be, and yet quite meaty. It is as good a high-choked war hammer as it is a cutting weapon or sword locking arm. And she looks good. Looks are a part of it.
Yeah, bedtime, again. I don't mind. I pushed a bit much. I will rest until I am rested, I guess. Good night.

Still ticklishly foolishly tired, a bit sore, and stiff here and there. I went there, stepped over the line, and kept going until I remembered as close to the infinite as a creature of flesh can. Chose against that path again... that is closed to me, as a lifestyle, now. At least I know I can visit if need be. Love can require that, for many reasons, but as moments not as whole truths. Women can't live there, men just have to do what it takes, sometimes.
My neighbor stopped in last night. He wanted to see the new cool tools. He seemed pleased. I told him of my hangup, and that I was just too tired to quite do even that one step, quite yet. He tinkered with one part, and got it off easily. Suggested, if I had a plumbers wrench he would get that last part off. I only had to move empty boxes, and was well worth it. He took the drain assembly off. As such, I will go to town and figure this out for final today. I think I just need a black pvc 1 1/2" female to female or female to straight line connector. Whichever they might have. I'll grab more teflon tape (plumber's tape), I know I have it, but not where. I won't want to be held back by that... unless I find some on the way out the door.
Yeah, just a touch of help at just the right time and I am sort of back on track. I won't do much more, but if I can get this arranged, then working, I will start doing small loads of laundry. Two things to help with laundry... two? three I mean... are in the basket. For larger loads of woolens, silks, and some synthetics, if I do larger batches air drying some in the dryer and hanging some would split the difference. As well, I have seen those devices they use to help fold clothes faster. Some things I want are more difficult. But I have been slowly creating systems and purchasing devices that make my wishes easier to work. With this, I can fold all my t-shirts, quickly and neatly. I am slow and not good at it by hand. And, even if the hanger is only good for socks, that is a very handy thing. Then I will be less intimidated by doing a large batch of various socks. Wool or compression or silk or synth liners... I have a lot of socks and they don't take to heat well, or even dry well even on fluff.
I probably won't have those in until next month. And, other than, perhaps, getting the washer online and functioning, then using it and the dryer, I won't be doing a lot of other work for the rest of this week. I do have trash, and I think recycling, to get out this morning. And I will do that, plus keep up on the cave otherwise. But not much more, not until I have rested up a bit. Even so, it is wonderful to walk around in a much cleaner and becoming neater cave... home. It eases a body exhausted by making it so. Once I get there, I need to try to find help it keeping it that way. Ugh.

Nothing fancy.
.
.
I can't remember when I woke. And while I have very lightly tinkered, and gotten a shower in, I haven't done much. Resting, mostly. More rest is needed than what I can do in a short space. Though, walking around the house from time to time, to see the appliances in place and mostly set up, to see the clean open spaces, and to plot my next moves, and imagine more, that has been my day.
It snowed last night. I think last night. In any case I was hoping the sun would take care of it. That is just what happened. My hope was a weak one. Hoping for something that is unlikely, or seems as if it would be unlikely, is... just hope. Sometimes it works out, as it has. I simply wasn't sure I could have gotten out and worked on the driveway. I am done, shot, zapped, sapped, tired, sore, and rough.
I will stay up until mid-evening. I would like to get the trash out, then to the curb. Recycling this week too I think. Not much more will be done. I won't get to the drain pipe today. I will get to it when I can. Rest is terribly needed. I have done what I could. With all of my normal clothes washed and up I have bought some time before the washing machine is truly needed. I doubt if I will be to it even by the middle of the week. I really need rest, away from heavy work. Though I will attempt to stabilize sleep.
I do need new tube fluorescent bulbs for the kitchen. I'm still not sure which are best, though full spectrum might be good, for winter. I haven't figured out the markings on fluorescents though. I probably should take one in to town with me. I really don't like this sort of lighting just for that reason. I'm not even sure if there are codes that are easily recognizable, like the length x diameter or circumference, then of course there are the various brightnesses or "temperatures" or such. You know, I may look that up, to see if that has been standardized, and perhaps which bulbs are more preferred per application? There might be something, if the subjective always plays a roll. I like to try the various things out myself, but they can sometimes have too many variables for me to reasonably afford to try them all, or at least quickly.
Hmm? Oh, right, rambling. Later. Or good night. I am not sure I'll be back on yet tonight. Sleep well if not, I am pretty sure I will.

The future.
.
.
While I can't forget the past I can and have moved on. Leaving behind what needs to be left, taking and cleaning, as much as that is possible, what is worth keeping. Life and love are dirty things. Dealing with hunger, not too much feeding, not to little, of all appetites, is the better of ways, the more sure of ways. All other paths have prices which lead to excesses. And, yet, even well timed and managed hungers... lead to dark things and places, even when that is right. A first child, and witnessing it, changes everything.
On my mind. The last set from looking through the door to a part of life most don't even know exists. Remembering how love was, why it was what it was, and some other things. As that door is remembered, and relinquished for the most part, further and, to a degree new, understandings are presented. Yes, as I have worked, and now as I rest, she clouds my thoughts and perhaps I seed her will. Difficult to know, but I think so. She is afraid, but then, who isn't. Better to be with one who knows enough to honestly fear than to be with a heedless fool who will be in over his depth in short order. Just admit that from the start and... take a breath when possible, take a nap when needed, and do what you can when and how you may, together or alone as it must be.
Yeah, she is on my mind in ways I know and new ways. I'm just pleased she is just as terrified as I am. It tickles my heart to be in trepidation in unison. Yes, a bunch of songs just, sort of, hit it. There might be an order. They might be in some order. But I don't claim they are in the right order or any such. It's... in there. Look or don't, as you please. Ugh, but women do it to me.

Normal pain time.
.
.
It has taken three sleep cycles, I think, to come back down from some strange physical high. A high in which I couldn't really feel pain well, or rightly. I don't think that is a danger, at all. It's just, for so very long I have been unable to achieve that. I doubt if, with the heart, I can maintain it. But that is, as I remember it, for myself, the sweet-spot of physical manipulation to get into... a sort of fitness most will never know. That is the door. Beyond that door there be dragons. Go beyond, and live there. But it isn't just physical. It is mental and spiritual. It is dangerous too. For many it is a place to escape God, and anything else that isn't simple, physical. Though some do maintain a relationship with God, it's more difficult to live how God wants it. I remember this door. I never thought I would see it again.
Having stepped back and down, and then rested a bit, slept more, I am beginning to be able to feel simple physical pains in the real world again. I am satisfied with that. I have had doctors suggest that I don't need to carry on as I was. They have no clue what they are discussing. I am not close to what I was. Not of mind or body. I may be well above my station due to condition, but that still isn't the same. And that is at this point, my momentary high point since being ill. I am just now looking at the entrance to that other place and I know I can't ever go back there. They simply have no understanding. I do, now, finally, again.
That I am seeing this, though, means... there is more room for Alaska. It is more possible. I will keep doing as I am doing. Packing, cleaning, sorting, tossing, storing, then doing it again and again until I have what I want to take with. Kits kept in storage, on either side of my range... just what I need for a couple of weeks if all else fails, but hunting and fishing for much of my food. Resting up when able and needed, hunting and fishing and handling that food when I must. No rent, plumbing problems, neighbor issues, and thieves would have to take it off my back... if there are probably some who would. Though meth-heads and such won't be quite as common. Even living near mostly decent folk, a lone lion can't cover all his range all of the time, especially an older one.
Yeah, today it is beginning to hurt. Another dose of painpills and more of a restful day. I may well attempt to remove the washing machine drain pipe, get a better look, but I am all but certain what I have won't do. Perhaps if I was willing to tear out the drywall, if even then only maybe. Then again, if not, the fix should be simple enough... just a female connect to the wall connect and a female to the male for the rest of the black pvc system. Even if a little piping is needed, I have more than enough. But, either way, not today... other than to take the thing apart and see how I can rig it otherwise. Monday, maybe Tuesday, and I'll finish that up... whenever I can motate without having to hesitate. Later.

I am keeping at it.

I really don't feel like it. But then who does, or when do I? It's not about that.
I got the floor "dried off". Really, it was clean water, no soap, the clothes weren't all that dirty, at all, just water. It was sitting in a small part of the floor. Pooled. Definitely not a flat or even floor. Doesn't really show, and in this case was a boon. Keeping the mop and mop caddie ultra clean means a bit of hot water, in situations like this, and I'm right to it. The hot water will keep the mop cleaner, and will allow the mop to absorb when dry. And, once mostly dry, and just doing a last run with a hot mop, it means the floor will dry fast. That all done, the caddie and mop have been cleaned out and put up to dry themselves.
When it is dry I will get in and figure out the drain. Today, tomorrow, soon. I got a message from my phone company. It suggested I am either way ahead or way behind on my bill. I have been meaning to quit them anyway. I'll keep my mother on, but that's it, whichever way it goes. I have that on automatic pay, but they seem to force my bank to stop the payments sometimes. I'm just not sure. If I had some serious money I would go after not just the companies, but the banks that do their bidding and cause problems. Even if that isn't the case, it has been the case before. I tried to call my mother, and some others, but I don't seem to be able to talk. So... I'm guessing I am probably in arrears. If I am ahead and they have been screwing with my phone? Then again, like I said, I think I am going to end my phone service with them... for myself.
Oh, and I waxed the top of my stove right off the bat, before it's first stove-top use. Just get it ready. There is special stuff just for it, a type of wax. Or so they say. But it sure reminds me of car wax. I had it from my old stove. When I used the oven, there was some smoke in there. I looked for anything that might be left in, but I didn't see anything, and it mostly cleared off after a bit. I really didn't like that, and I still wonder if there was something in there that was supposed to be removed.
Oh well. I do think I am pretty much done for the day. My heart is tired. It gets like this sometimes. Not always because of work, it just happens. Given it's condition I really can't complain if, after such use, it has a minor complaint. Later or... maybe good night.

Yeah, the dryer too.
.
.
Not bad. A lot of bending and flexing to get this one. the flexible exhaust hose simply did not want to go onto the exit pipe, to the outside. This and that, a mistake, a bit of cutting, and more tinkering then it finally went into place. I think. Yeah, I tightened the screw band on and it seems to have held? Getting the flex hose onto the dryer outlet itself was simple. The three cord was a breeze. I plugged it in, put the clothes in on more dry, fluff, and... I'll know before long.
There is water on the floor in there, from running the washing machine with the cracked drain pipe. I wanted to make sure it worked, and that they hadn't jiggabooed it or such. So just a bit of mopping, then a very hot rinse, and that should be that. But it does mean I won't be messing with the drain until that dries. Well, it means I could do it a bit later, but I am using it as an excuse to push it off until "tomorrow"... whenever that turns out to be, and probably not in the bright and early, for whatever that even means as my schedule sits.
Oh, and I did run rolls through the oven. I was curious. I might run some cinnamon buns through. Just... because. I never use those pop-rolls, bought them just for this actually. Yeah... cinnamon rolls while I rest for the remainder of the day. Perhaps a shower yet today. I'd love to set up dishes, but I don't want anything getting in the way of getting the laundry room back into operation. So those will just have to wait. If I open up the drain and this stuff doesn't work, I'll have to plug that up with a cloth or something... Yeah, vent gasses can be deadly... plus they just stink for those of us who don't die well.
Later.

Every single syllable?

Well, maybe not. The power cord tensioner set and the anti-tip system are not installed. I don't know about the tensioner on the previous stove, but the anti-tip device was not installed. Yeah, yeah, I'll keep the stuff just in case or for the next owners. No, it didn't just whiz-bang as I thought it would. An error code, first thing, of course. I went through the drill. Push every button, and more than once, just not in groups. Just... trust me on the latter part. Don't. I didn't. Then flipping the potential breakers. Finally I just unplugged and plugged it back in. Cha-ching. I then set the clock, checked the light, looked it over. The surface burners were working already, so I didn't check them again. Four burners, one is multi-sized... or two of them... plus a warming spot. The oven is HUGE, and the glass on it is... nearly the whole door! I love that. I hadn't really noticed in the store, with so much going on. Done! I might even cook something... or later. A salad though.
I am... feeling okay. Or feeling nothing? I am not sure which and it doesn't seem to matter. The next project will be the dryer. I have to connect the back exhaust hose and the power cord, then put it where I want and where it will fit. Oh, and I will dry the clothes I "washed" I didn't use any soap, so I'll just fluff them dry. I usually don't heat dry things, or not much, not often, and rarely from start to stop. Then, either yet "today", or sometime tomorrow, I'll begin tinkering with the drain for the washer. If it all goes together, I will begin washing the special items that need cold, delicate, and/or wool settings. One thing down, two to go.
Hey, what do you know, my first appliance install works, mostly. It's little, but in the big dark world, alone and for the first time, living on the brink of death in the mouth of exhaustion, it's... something. Yes, something to eat. Salad, cheese, and salami, a glass of milk or tea, or both. I have been cutting down on fluids, using a quart instead of half gallon drinking glass... helps, a bit. Later.

Hmm? Is feeling no pain also really feeling better?
.
.
The painkillers did their job. Mostly. While most of the pain is gone, I still feel compressed, as if my skin is too tight... pretty much everywhere. My shoulders have just a bit of ache to them, and my legs and back, I suspect, if I bend or while getting up, especially if I do with my normal 'in a hurry' mode, will offer a twinge here and there. Better than before, by far. But does that mean I can do much? I don't know. Not yet.
I will turn the furnace up. While 66 is quite good, for me, on a rest day, I am not sure but that it will make the pain worse, and making doing any work more difficult and painful. Since I am hoping to do a few things, or even hoping the warmth will allow me to heal and rest better, I might as well turn the heat up just a bit. Then bask in the warmth, perhaps get a very needed shower in, and then see about the stove. That, I am hoping, will be an immediate shoe-in. Nothing like success to breed success. I have some things I'd like to cook as well. Hmm... might have a salad while I am warming. Food helps and I am out of chicken. I do have salami and cheese, though, too. Yeah.
I would like to find my levels. I have two, I believe. A small one and a larger one... if I haven't seen the larger one in a very long time. I have stacked boxes in the exit hallway, in front of the tools. I don't think I would be willing to move, then replace or break those boxes down... not quite yet. So that may just have to wait. I may do a small search, in case one of them is out and about somewhere though. I have a Christmas decoration to put up as well as the appliances to level. Ugh but it gets messy trying to do a bit too much all at once. Still... it's sort of fun to get in way too deep and then go for it! I may not be a devil dog, but I earned the respect of a few of them. And not the friendlier of the lot. Which... was how I preferred. It's not about being mean, it's about doing what has to be done and the price that sometimes can cost. I don't like those who can't or won't, including myself. After three attempts to dump the trash, though... even I had to relent. Respect is earned, and my life, itself, earned it. Which led to understanding a bit about God.
Well... some heat, a shower maybe in a bit, a few shows or gaming, some food, then perhaps some work. I really am done in, but that's... not going to get it done and it has to be done. Later.

Mild shakes.
.
.
Not directly from pain, thankfully. I think I have mild shakes from nerve abuse. Too much pain traffic over time. While my will is good my body is mostly dead. Usually it simply doesn't comply with my will. I guess this is what happens when it does comply over it's objections. Though that might not be a bad thing. It, I have suggested, is the answer. I tried to use medication, which got one doctor fired and another hid from me, denied medications which were sent anyway, and... I am doing, without medication if at a lower level, what that medicine was allowing me to do. There is simply a cost.
I don't know if I can keep it up. I have been using anacin, but not even daily. I use it as often as I have posted, give or take. A few times a week, if I have to push a little more over severe exhaustion or oddly, as today, on rest days. Though I am not sure this will be a rest day. I am definitely hoping to get the stove together and put in place, as well as the dryer. And, if nothing else, I would like to at least remove the old washer drain pipe and begin examining the options and potential for the items I have at filling that role, and what might replace them if they don't work. Just... not right here, right now, right up front after waking. Oh, and a shower.
If the drain doesn't work, I won't be going in today. Monday at the earliest. Given more time, the washing machine did spin out. I thought it was finished, then moved it to what I thought would simply spin it out but it turned out to be different wash session, or perpetual soak and spin cycle? I don't know. In any case, given enough time, it does spin down. I wasn't watching the actual time, so perhaps I was just in too much of a hurry. These machines take a long time to do their thing. Which might be fine. One of my resolutions is to do more smaller loads, to keep up rather than to have to do massive loads.
Again, where does it hurt? Everywhere. There are bones that hurt. How is that even possible? My lower internals hurt. It's not so much organs, though, perhaps, just my intestines for some reason? Maybe it's the muscles that ring that, or the muscles have squished as I have pushed, pulled, lifted, lowered, and done steps? All good. This means I have worked, and it means good things. At least I think so. What a miracle if everything worked and it all fits together though. A few days to a week off, mostly, and then back to sorting my home. I'm telling you, just as is you might be amazed. That was a lot of work just so far.
Later.

Later.

Choosing when to do, or not do, something. Is it a need or a want. Is it safe. How much do you have to honestly put into the effort.
Wise or not I made the trip and did my best to purchase the right products. I am sure of the wiring (unless something was mislabled). I am pretty sure the dryer hose will work. I didn't, technically, need it. I, however, did not wish to risk that the non-flexible exit pipe would be at the right height for the new dryer. Probably. Not willing to bet on probably. As well, I hated that every time I moved the dryer I had to wiggle back, when putting it back in place, in order to reconnect. I like having some lag space, for occasional cleaning and retrieval of dropped items.
As to the drain, that is a whole different matter. What is installed is not recommended for precisely the reason it is being replaced. That sort blows out. Now, as to whether what I purchased will work? That remains to be seen. I can hope, and I will move heaven and earth to find out, at least when I can get to it. Like or not, finished or not, I am absolutely finished for now. I can't do another thing. I couldn't even get a shower in before heading to town. After a day or two of pretty steady effort, two snow shovelings, two sweepings, vacuuming, up all night(s?), pushing, pulling, and making sure it all happened... I am done for a while. If I get a window, I will attempt things. The stove first, as that is almost a shoein. The dryer next, as while that is a bit of a mixed martial arts, with electrical and simply mechanical, it is most likely just going to happen. The washer, however... that is last. All that is involved with it is the drain piping. But that is probably going to be a wash. Maybe it will all work as it was supposed to work, according to the guy at the store. He actually does know what he is talking about, it's just that in a non-standard, even for a pro, all guesses can be off. I'll... that'll be my last job. If it fails I will disconnect it all and take it in. It might be a simple fix, but better to take it all in than dick around for days. Do what it takes to do it right then be done with it.
It was snowing, then raining. The roads, simply, were questionable. I did go slower. Four-wheel drive does no good if you hit all ice. It was possible. It seemed to be, for the most part, good. I just, it was a bit milder white-knuckle driving. I kept extra attention to anything that might be wrong. Moments of terror. I used to think it was that I realized I was losing control. I realize, now, that it isn't that. It is simply the dawning that I don't have control. Most people don't, perhaps won't, maybe can't, put it that way. I have learned to... understand. Oh, and amen. Truly. When I realized what I do, I am more thankful than ever to a loving God. For fate, alone, is not only not on our side, fate despises us.
On to bed, if I can. So off, so hurt, so empty, so loud, so soft, so hard. I will try to rest, sleep, and do so until I can limp around a bit. Then more until I can walk. Even then, I need some time, if I can get it. Some serious down time. Good night and day and maybe week.

In but incomplete.

Being the first time I have purchased new appliances I did not know the dryer and the stove purchases did not include the plug. As well, the drain pipe I asked they bring was also not sent. It wasn't a trick or an oversight, either. I know darned well that the store doesn't want these guys hooking things up, or at least not for some of us. Which means nothing is level. I did get them to hook the washing machine up. It was either that or it was going back with them and they'd be talking to whoever about whatever. I wasn't even going to negotiate. It seems to run a cold cycle.
They were in early, right after I cleared the snow the final time. I got to the post office right after that. For some reason the package notification which had been in my box was removed this morning. It just doesn't make sense that the notification would be removed while I still had packages to pick up.
The delivery guys did suggest I get a different type of water hoses, and I probably will. Since I have to go in for plugs anyway. Yeah, I can't quit until I am done. I'll look on youtube, see how it's supposed to go, do some reading elsewhere, and hopefully have everything plugged in and running by this afternoon. Once I get it all going I'll take a well needed rest.
I am holding off until the cold wash finishes. I want to remove the drain pipe so as to get an exact replacement. The main part is good, it's just the cheap pseudo-metal or plastic u-part that is probably bad. It might just be loose, though I will still replace it. I just don't trust it at this point. I wish it would hurry up and finish.

How much does it hurt?

Plenty, and pretty much everywhere. Again. I did a bit of vacuuming this morning. And I will be going out to sweep one last time. I think it has finally stopped snowing. To be honest though, the only think I would have done differently was not sweeping when I did. I would have skipped that and swept this morning. I am glad I shoveled twice. While it took twice as long it was less than half the work. All at once that would have been just a lot more than simply double the effort. I know because I did a short little bit on the back sidewalk, with a full depth, all combined, and it was rough.
The phone is charged. I will keep it, literally, on me. Sometimes either it doesn't ring or I don't hear it. I have both a ring tone and vibrate on, and still miss it? I honestly think it doesn't always ring through right, somehow. I honestly wonder if the SJW workers at big tech companies screw with people. Or they are so busy trying to correct us that they don't do what they are supposed to do. Perhaps a mix of those things. Then again, not sure I can always trust family. Especially those who have converged. They are like all others of their type. Cowardly backstabbing monsters when they "feel" offended, or can't handle the truth.
I can't wait to get this all over, so I can crash for a few days, or as needed. I have pushed beyond... I don't even know. I am hoping, though, to sweep the drive again, take a shower, then make it to the post office. They are supposed to be calling to set things up sometime. I have no idea when they will be calling or what time they might be arriving, two different things, hopefully with some distance. Then again, if they called, then arrived, that would actually be fine. I would just have to figure out the post office later or another day. I am sure I can sweep everything in time. Just a bit of snow landed after my last effort. Just enough to make it, potentially, slick in the worst way.

Snow stopped.

Or so it seemed a few hours ago. Yes, I am sore. I am tired. I feel bruised and my body is generally unhappy. Still, with the snow done I wanted to hit it. I shoveled again. At least an inch, or so it seemed, maybe two. While that did okay, it just didn't seem good enough so I decided to sweep, using a big, wide, utility push broom. Wow, that is more difficult than shoveling. Which doesn't make sense. I have two-thirds of the drive done, and the sidewalk that would be used is done, short as it is.
Not bad but I am really pushing things. I will need a break when this is done. I don't care if it takes a week for me to make sense of the world in a bodily way again. Though if I can get back to it even sooner, that is fine. Thing is I will let it happen on it's own, and simply won't shove, push, or attempt to work past it. I will rest as I need. I don't mind doing little things, small batches of laundry, batches of dishes, a bit of cooking, if I can. If not I will find a way around any or all of those.
Then again, the shoveling wasn't much of a job. The sweeping was, though maybe I was just wearing down? I had shoveled everything twice already tonight. I was handling the cold without issue, at least with the gloves to keep my hands off the cold shovel. I am tired, but... not as bad as I thought I might end up. Stiff and sore, but not really adding much to that? I don't know. All good though.
I've had a bit of a break. So I think I will head out and finish the last bit of the drive. Sweeping it really gets the last bit of clinking snow, mostly. I am sure having a well cleaned driveway will be welcome. The only really heavy item is the washer, probably. Still, it gets messy having to work through snow, sludge, and ice. Sometimes it isn't even possible. Later.

Oh my word!
.
.
I was only able to stay awake until about 8:00. I thought a nap, perhaps, and waking before the post office closed, might be in the works. Nope! I slept until 19:00 this evening. I woke several times through the sleep, to go to the bathroom. I hurt so much each time that I tried to make consciousness as brief as possible and attempted to forget as much as I could. At some point, perhaps even before I crashed, I realized it had snowed. I couldn't tell how much. Oh, and I had a package I hadn't been expecting... forgot about I suppose. Good think I looked, and good thing it showed up so early, before the second bedtime, or it would have frozen.
I was sore all morning, then slept and woke in pain. When I woke this evening, I was terribly sore still. I... must admit. I was afraid of shoveling. Still, out I went. I did find gloves this time, winter gloves. Work gloves are not really good for this. These are cheap winter gloves, but good enough.
It was work, sort of. To be honest, something has changed. Shoveling snow, at least what I have, isn't what I would now call work. If it is really heavy, deep, or both, sure. It might get that way. But at, probably, two, maybe three, inches, I was doing it fairly easily. The real work was more standing and pushing an aching sore and stiff body. That was the real work. I got through it all in one go. Thing is it is still snowing. If it stops before long I will sweep if what is there is light enough. If not I will have to shovel again.
The way I am feeling, I do not know that I will be awake all that long again. I need to make sure my cellphone is charged, and within hearing, for the delivery tomorrow. I have no idea when they are supposed to arrive. Though, with the sleep I have been getting, I should be able to at least be up, dressed, and direct the installation and check the systems. If the washer doesn't have cold runs, it goes back with them. And I want everything leveled. Period. I hated having a stove on which the pan was at enough of an angle that all the fats could go to one side! If I had known the stove was that light, though, I might have asked someone to help. I just thought it would be heavy as the dickens. I might even be able to do it alone, with a... little thinking and right action. Still, I don't want to have to mess with that on my own, or ask others for help.
Who knows. If I am able to stay awake for a while, I might do some work. Later.

Early, full, but short?
.
.
Sleep, that is, was just that. I got in six hours, give or take, which is a fairly common length of late. Down at a bit after 20:00, up by 2:00. A full night's sleep. I don't know if this is a reset to days or a plug in that direction, or if it is just an anomaly. Unless somethings fails, this does mean I should be able to make it to the post office. I have packages in, but he hasn't been putting them in the key-boxes. Nothing that big, I don't think. Tea and some other such.
I am still sore, stiff, and all. Not as bad as yesterday, or the day before. But I am not fully awake yet. Sometimes, like the last few days, it hurt hard straight out of the shoot and modulated from there. It still hurts, just in a blurred way today. I may preemptively hit the anacin. That stuff works when I need it, usually. That and a few pieces of chicken along with a salad. A weird breakfast but I am hungry and it's what is available. Glad for it.
Work today? Yeah, most likely. Light stuff. Various stuff. Hmm, bathroom first? Maybe. Then some vacuuming, perhaps cleaning the countertops and setting up the dishes, and sorting when I need sit time but still have some focus. The place really is shaping up. If I have energy beyond that, I may move a few things into the en suite so as to be ready to get back into the main bedroom and tear it down and fix it back up. Tomorrow I just continue from there, probably with a focus on the main bedroom and dishes. After the appliances are set up I will probably focus on the kitchen, when I get back to things, to get that back into order and ready to go. I want to kick out chicken confit, and more. I'd like to make a bean and three meat casseolete again. And I'd like to roast a duck soon... maybe for my Christmas meal too, but definitely sooner still.
Well, on to waking and then work when more fully awake. Good day.

Another trip to town.
.
.
With no stove until Friday I decided a bit of food to hold me over would be good. Eat it or not, so long as I have some if it is needed seemed the best choice. Just fried chicken, deep fried or some such. Who knows what any chicken monger actually does in the cooking process. What I bought has a bit of a fishy taste. Yeah, they cooked it all in the same oil and right after the other. Oh well.
I was deciding about whether I would keep my work and keep working regardless, until the new appliances are installed. And? I've decided. Yes. It just happens though that I won't be working tonight. Huh? Well, you see, I will only work when I am awake. I will not be awake. It isn't so much that I am taking a break as that I can no longer keep my eyes open. After I sleep, as I wake, I will get back to work.
What to do though? I have some limits. I can't do much in the kitchen. Everything is sort of wrapped up in order for space to be clear. I could hit the bathroom. This time down to the nubs, off to the side, and such. As well, I could get back to working in the main bedroom. And there is always more sorting to do in many different places. I could do so vacuuming too. There is much I can do. Much of it is light, but I didn't say I would do heavy work, only that I would continue. Actually, I will continue with light work even after. The heavy stuff I will relax about, for a while, is all. Until I am back in shape to do major projects. Although, as I have gotten better and stronger, the line between those two blurs. What once was a major task is now kicked out without thought. Heavy weights, a lot of steps, or such, now constitute heavy work. But organizing and sorting, which used to be an extreme effort for me, is now... for now if for the first time since falling ill... simple work.
No, I won't be working because I will be sleeping. I have no choice on that matter. I will see about things when I wake, though I believe I will continue my efforts. I think I will have a salad, then go to bed for the night or a nap... not sure what is needed/required. Good night, I think.

It only hurts if I breath or hold my breathe.
.

I hurt, greatly, everywhere, yesterday. That was warmup. The extra work and the way I worked did not help things. A handful of painkillers and I'll be as good as I can get before too long. Aspirin and caffeine, it's as good as I have and as strong as I can tolerate. How, praytell, do patches of skin hurt? Never mind. Then again? I like this. I'm not a fool for pain, quite in the sense it might sound. I am a fool for getting things done and paying the price. If my heart hadn't failed, I would probably have died pushing past my limits some other way. It's in my nature.
I woke sometime before actually getting up, with a two alarm bloody nose. At some point the other nostril joined in but did not wake me. I must have been at just the right angle that it didn't cause a mess, just clotted in place. Bloody noses can tell me several things. This time they told me that I have worked hard, maybe a bit too hard. All good. Oddly, though, the one thing I don't have is an headache. Everything from the neck down hurts, just not that.
I woke at about 14:00, having gone to bed around 6:00, I think? That bedtime was a bit early making for a rather shorter day, and that sleep a bit long, but pushing might just have done that. I thought I had been pushing, but this was... almost a real normal healthy human pushing, or more? I needed the short and the extra though, so all good. It's just unusual.
I just called. Delivery will be Friday. I get, sort of, two days off for good behavior. I have cleaned where the washer and dryer will go, but will have to clean where the stove was. And, yeah, it needs it... badly. It wasn't great from before I moved in. I did not improve it. Then again, if you use your stove at all, and there are cracks (and what stove doesn't have that)... it's going to get nasty. That is simply life.
It's been a crazy wonderful couple of weeks of work. It is far from over. I am about a quarter way into my bedroom, most the way through the spare bedroom, and well on my way in the front room and back porch/hall. The kitchen is getting hit just because it's in the way, though was in half decent shape, other than the floor, to start. I have boxes, so as to begin sorting and storing, preparing for a move. Yeah.
Well... a bit of rest until the army shows up. Later.
Mopped, did I mention. Then mopped again. Then rinsed. And then used mop and glo, to no good end. Burned some energy anyway. Between each mopping I had to clean out the mop, the caddie, and run fresh water... quite a task just by itself. Essentially I mopped the open areas four times. The floors are cleaner, they just don't look all that much better. These floors may be from the 70's. Yeah. Cleaner, that's it.
I just couldn't quite... I went to town and did some shopping. Some milk, a few foods, cat litter and food, tp, and... other stuff. I have one of those scented candles, from when my mother visited. And some other things, like a wax melter that puts off a smell. What I have found is that those types of things is that they are great until they become stale. Then you are just surfing stink with more and more. Or you quit, let it all go away, and...

That is strange.
.
.
I had the phone right with me. I don't think I was listening to music. I was sitting at the computer. I did not hear my visitor, who called, knocked on the door heavily, and even brought dinner in. He didn't go into the computer room. He says he did not realize I was awake and up. Well, that was just the start of things.
With that, getting the dryer out was delayed. When plans go astray I... fuss. And, so, I fussed. Plus, realizing that I was that unaware? Perhaps I have pushed myself far too hard? Whatever, I... couldn't put it all together and chill about it. Not angry, just... something. Not at anyone, not even at myself these days. Still, it's an emotional response of some ambiguous but potent sort.
So, in spite of pain, soreness, and all else, I... started ripping into things. I moved the washer and dryer, each with a single hand. I undid them, swept, then mopped. While mopping back there I mopped on through to the kitchen and then a bit into the bathroom. Neither was really ready but oh well. The push from enervation was on. I will probably clear off a table in the living room, then move the chair that is there. I already moved the boxes that might have been a problem... though they might get a more thorough going through shortly... and might be moved even more distant to where I did move them.
My skin is as if on fire. Some... rage thing is going on. Again, not at anyone. It's, just... plans are other than... well... planned. So my mind is trying to make sense of it. But, being sorely tired, it seems to have gotten stuck and work, brute force stuff, pacifies.
I had another call, two others actually. I called back with one of them, to arrange whatever will happen. One of the others was tended that way. Best to have fewer chefs working on a stew so there is that. I then called the big-box(tm), as the appliances seem to be in. The one who does the scheduling is not in, tomorrow until 17:30, I was told. Good. Not sure how soon that means delivery could be, but, other than tomorrow, the sooner the better. Then I can go down for a bit then get back to it. Well, and I can wash on my down days. Small, infrequent, loads.
I won't complain. I hope to finish off the whole house, at this level, then beginning hitting small areas extremely well, while keeping up. That make take hired help. Four to six hours a week? I just dont' know. Nor am I sure I can truly afford it. Perhaps half that? I don't know. Well... I'll do what I do tonight. None of this was actually planned. It's all extra. I guess I have to work it out.

OUCH!
.
.
Well, I did a lot last night, and then more before going to bed. If anything else might need moved, it is minor. I might yet do a few more things before anyone shows up.
I was invited to an event tonight. I fully intended going, if I would wake on time. Now, I woke on time but I almost woke with a scream. Just sorting where it hurt and how was a bit of a rubics cube sort of game. Forearms, calves, the main front muscles, and auxiliary hind leg muscles, some bones, it seems, or ligaments? I can't be sure for all of it. I woke to pain.
I needed a shower. While taking it I almost felt better, normal. But after getting out, drying off, and cooling down... I knew I could not do much tonight. I can help, if needed. I will move a few boxes and a chair... a light one. And, for tonight and through some time period, I will suffer. I have worked.
I have worked but I am not done. I am simply done for now, mostly. I will need a day or two off, for the most part. Then I hit it again, fast or slow. The main floor first, then upstairs, then the basement. Organizing and tossing, mostly. Some cleaning, dusting, sweeping, and such on the side. I am hoping to get rid of at least a third of my possessions. Mostly junk, so no sales or reason to offer any of it.
You know, when I get the appliances in, just the laundry... the wool and delicate cycles, I have... at least six loads. Some of that is woolen blankets, but also wool, silk, and other natural fiber clothing, from socks to base layers, to regular clothing, but all of it. Quite a bit just in washing to do. But, finally, that area back there will be clean! It needed cleaning when I moved in. But I didn't have a way to move everything out, or enough faith in myself to do so. Now I can learn, one way or the other, and clean before the new appliances are brought in. It's a heck of a thing.
Next year, assuming all faults are corrected and everything works out, aka God willing, I will be getting a new refrigerator, hopefully one with ice and water, possibly a dish washer if they can convince me that they actually work now, and maybe a microwave... though, too, I would love to get a stove vent, a real one, installed. I'm not... sure how that would work out. But, yes, I really, really, want one. Either that, or get work done on the floor in the kitchen. I really don't want tile, but I don't want simple linoleum either. Something thicker, that spongy work-mat sort of stuff. Yeah... that makes cooking fun or at least makes standing more bearable for longer periods, is usually easy to clean, but is pretty pricey. Not sure about longevity either. Still, that's what I'm thinking. If all else works, perhaps both projects could be completed... if I become tight with all else.
Well... I think I'll relax in front of the tube, or gaming, until it's time to get the dryer out. I can't do much more, not for a while. Later.

Yes, I did.

To be honest, beside being seeming outside my capacity, I also... couldn't be sure what I could do today, what I should do. I could not form a plan. Everything I wanted to do was, potentially, contrary. Much of what I had to do was move stuff someplace. Not it's place, though many items don't HAVE a place, not yet. So objects were fighting for limited spaces where I could find them. Anywhere but in the way. Though, too, I didn't want them to be too visually disturbing. Nor did I want to have to travel too far or go up and down stairs. Not always could I get my way, I did the best I could.
The hall/enclosed porch is done. I had a few last things to do and those are done. The last job was emptying eight 5 gallon jugs. Yeah, my emergency water. I'll need to, when all is ready, fill those and get those back into circulation with fresh water, and a cleaning. That is only, max, about two weeks worth of water. I have two more I could fill for, stretching it, another week. Yeah, even with bleach, I think it's best to reset those at least yearly. And every six months would be better.
Then I have done work in the kitchen and living room. Not as much as I had hoped, but I had thought I would have two days. With the want of the dryer tomorrow... though, hopefully, that will go out the back door. I am still not sure about the small drop in freezer. Where to put it if it has to be managed. Hopefully there will be enough clearance. It is being left open to air over night and I'll clean it some tomorrow (which is really later today) or... the next tomorrow. Bleh.
My coffee/tea pot died in here. I had an old machine, of the same make. The carafe broke on that, so I bought a new one. As it turns out, saving the old body was a smart move. I was going to tinker with it, just never got around to it. All good. Tea really helps.
Good night. I am hoping I can wake in time to shower and get to the post office. Yeah, more packages. I'll probably go back to bed for a bit, if I can, assuming I can wake as hoped. Things to do this evening, if I can. Hmm... and I need to get some packages returned and some shopping done. Not today, hopefully tomorrow or the day after. Ugh but it comes fast when it comes at you, doesn't it? Good night.

I just wasn't sure.
.

I had a lot of work to do, and a lot of sorting. The boxes had to be sorted and put somewhere, along with the garden hoses and some other such. Insulation remnants to... stuff! Plus the freezer had to be emptied and space ended up being just a little tighter than I had planned. Thankfully the freezer on the standing fridge was still empty. Load after load, box of bags after box, it finally all got put away. I swept the now open floor for the first time... in a very long time. When the washer and dryer are taken out, I will sweep under where they had been, then mop, mop, and mop again if needed, and everywhere.
While I still have just a bit more to do in the back hall/porch, I think I will begin on the kitchen and living room. If we can get the appliances through the back side door, great. If not it will just have to be a long slog through the house. Tomorrow only the dryer may be going. The washer and range will go the next day. When do the others arrive? I best call. Yeah. But the areas they will occupy will be clean and ready, and there will be nothing to remove. I will not let them go without getting the items squared though. Flat, level, clean, and working... or they take whatever isn't working back. I'll tip, if they do a good job. I'll tell them to piss off if they show up with attitude.
I really didn't think I'd be able to get to it. I AM sore, I AM stiff, I AM tired, worn, shutting down. And, yet, I did get to it. More, I am not finished. Not tonight, not tomorrow night, not until everything is in and working. THEN, if still needed, I can take a breather. Although, if I get the heavy parts done, I have no problem gearing down and doing lighter efforts. You would not recognize the place from where I started two weeks ago. And, in another two weeks to month, I won't recognize the joint.
My boxes arrived today. I'll have to experiment with the sizes and for what. I want to check packing material costs at walmart/sich while I am at it. Yeah, a bucket of chicken, though I think I can make my own slaw and cauliflower 'mashed potatoes'. I can make those latter in a large batch and just nibble it and the chicken. I probably should get something else as well, but what? I'll think on it. I don't want to mess with cooking, mostly, but I do need food. Hmm... better just buy the slaw, actually, and maybe some other salads. I just... the stove will be gone and the grill doesn't work for that. Yeah. All good though, too. Once in a while it's nice not to have to fuss with food.

Monday, December 5, 2016
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
.
.
Today is supposed to be a heavy day. And it might end up being just such. I've only been awake for a bit, a couple of hours. I did a little bit, washed the washer and dryer up, the outsides, a bit. Just dust, and a little bit of soap that seems to leech right out of the bottles, though more likely a little bit ends up on the outside of the bottles and slowly gets pulled down. Anyway, those are washed.
Now to make several calls. I know someone who may, or may not, want them. If so, I want to make sure they can get them. It would help me. But I don't want to bother someone else unless it also helps them. It might. Especially since all of these actually still work, if two of them need a little tlc. It would be good to get these out, so I would have time to clean before the new ones arrive. And removing them ahead of time would make the install that much faster and easier. Plus, I would have a much better idea if the paths were clear and which ones would be best for which. A trial run, really.
Well... it looks like that might work. He wanted tomorrow or Wednesday. Tomorrow just seemed a little tight. So I asked for Wednesday. That gives me a definite time. So, tonight and tomorrow? I need to rip through the back room to get it ready. Moving everything out of the freezer. Then again, when that thaws, I can clean it again. Not a bad thing. When it goes back in place, I may empty the main freezer into it and the little fridge/freezer, then clean that out too. I will then be ready for the hog that should be arriving in February. Yeah, it's that time of year again. An half of beef in the spring or fall, a lamb or two in the fall, and a hog in the winter? Well... okay. I might start looking to source chickens. I don't care for free range unless they can make them plumper. I don't like them hugely fat, but I want some fat in there. Oh, and I should order ducks before long. One for each quarter of the year, so four a year. And, maybe, a large dose of duck fat, for various confit. Duck, maybe goose, and coconut fats are extremely good. It's difficult to even find geese these days, so finding geese fat is... unlikely. Even duck fat is a bit spendy. Oh well. Choices.
I am doing well. I am beginning to hit a wall though. I am going to keep pushing, in the hopes of at least getting the appliances out, the new ones in, and clean up to, during, and after. I am seriously getting ahead. But I may need a break when the appliances are installed before finishing the main bedroom. A few days, a week, hard to tell. But, for now, I have to keep going. Just for appliance extraction and installation space though. Yeah, I won't have a stove for a bit, so I may order fried chicken by a huge bucket, and a few other things. I could grill but... maybe not. Plus, it's nice to treat myself to no cooking and cleaning while I am ripping and tearing on other things innit. Yes, in case you thought that was an actual question!
Dinner is here, for now. I best get some food down. Later.

Later.
Nothing fancy.
.
.
Today was planned as a lighter day among even light days. And so it has been. It turns out there were four loads, but one was a group of things that didn't fit with anything else. Heavy duty items, like a couple of serious (if too short and hard to keep clean) oven mitts, some rugs, and else like that. And they needed a vinegar wash, then a baking powder wash. Yeah... I should probably buy a lot more baking powder, and vinegar. The stuff seems to work or I would keep using it, and trying it in new ways as they come up or I happen to hear.
I have been keeping the furnace at 66, but it seems to be staying about a degree cooler. Whatever. Now that I am wearing socks everyday, and more like (even if house) shoes all the time, sweats and a t-shirt are enough, but a house robe works if I need just a touch more warmth. The girls aren't so happy about it though. I only keep it at the lower temps on off days, as mentioned. So they get five or six warm days a week, mostly. More if I happen to just need some extra warmth, which happens from time to time.
I plan on setting some dishes up to be washed tonight, a bit later. With the gloves, if I keep the water shallow, I can probably tear through them. I have the trash, mostly, all set to go. That will go out. I really don't think much more will happen. It's actually, normally, a good day's work. Funny to see this as probably the slowest day in a week, two? I've been hitting it for a while. I think. Memory sucks, but I have been busy. Too much to do, too little time. Hmm... though maybe I'll hit the back porch/hall, open it up, move some things into the basement, keep some boxes so as to relocate the stuff in the small freezer out there to the big one, and get that moved for the moment. Ugh... might need help getting that moved. But if everything is out, it would be a small job.
I need to get to town before long. Tomorrow, the day after, who knows. Shopping, items to return, and... perhaps a few other things. Even with tomorrow being a new heavy work day, I think I can get to town one of these next three days. It more depends on when I see a right way between work and rest and hit it just right. Later.

I am waking later each day.
.
.
I am up to early afternoon as my wake time. This time I know exactly why. As I work, and am able to work, I end up staying awake longer. Push. When I push the world, the clock, perhaps time itself, goes with me. And I am sleep less. I would say I am most likely pushing onto twenty hours up and six to seven hours down, though sometimes there is a slip somewhere. And, for the next few days, I am going to attempt to hold it to where it is. Conscious effort may or may not have an effect.
I already started, first thing. I ripped into some goods I purchased, that arrived heavily wrapped. I just was never up to it until today. And, mostly, it was collecting the last or second to the last bag of trash for the bin that I decided to rip into that. I need to wash the items too, and dishes are on the menu... at least collecting and starting them in a soak. So it was almost happenstance, or secondary. Wow do they wrap some things. Then I gathered the remnants and other trash in the bathroom, got that bag together and out. My bin will hold one more bag and I don't intend on wasting the space. I'll get another massively full bag before the night is through, and then get that out. Recycling is next week, I think. If it is tonight, I will get some extra of that out. Boxes I would normally take in to town. I will at least lighten my load.
Then I did a quick final separation of laundry. A load or two of whites and colored cottons, each. I put the first load in, then grabbed the "unusuals", in their own hamper, etc, and moved those into the main bedroom. Those won't be washed until I get the new washer... assuming it has a real cold gentle cycle. That is a lot of clothing. And, yes, I have kept up on every drop of it. Nothing has just been left in a basket or tossed in a drawer, save underwear. I am NOT folding those anymore. If I am going to be traveling, I might fold to make room. Otherwise, I am just stuffing those into a hanging 'shoe caddie', repurposed for unders an probably socks when the second one arrives. Yeah... getting organized boys and girls. Even if I can't keep up, if I do have a place for everything, I can at least hit one room a month, and try to keep up on the others a bit. I'll never be Mr. Mom, but I can be... a cultured caveman. :)
What amazes me is that I am not sore. I am not particularly tired. I feel good, rested, healthy, and just... well. I am not losing track of this or that, if I can't get to everything. Oh, and this has been a restful weekend. I should be ready to hit the harder work through this week. And, now, I realize I can do the easy stuff... organizing... between the hard stuff. Something has changed, opened, happened. What it is I cannot say. What is means is I can make the world, including my flesh, do my will, again... even if just for a bit. I will use this to reorder my home and life, perhaps even preparing for the next fall and the means to extricate myself from it right through time and space and ahead of time. That doesn't seem possible, to many, but they don't... understand. I need to be careful. This is what it was like before I fell, and it was only in my fall that I could slow down enough to hear God. My kind is... mostly we can't hear, because we are so... "Just look at the bones!" (Monty, Tim) Pride. But that pride comes from something. Just... note to self.
Quite a mess I am messing with. Of body, home, mind, and all else. It has come from and through chaos and is headed toward a divine perfection... not of my making, though with the options and tools given, of my design. Choices, even through death, madness perhaps, pain, darkness, and perhaps worse boredom from incapacity. I can't make it, but I can choose and work for it... now that the mind and body can, sometimes, be useful fitting tools again.
I think laundry and dishes will, mostly, be it. I might, while resting and watching a show or not, just start grabbing boxes and going through things. Organizing all the time, this goes with these, those go there, this could go generally with those upstairs for now. Three to four loads, maybe a load or two of dishes, a shower later. I found that the house shoes do wash. I had to wash the soles first. They are now in use. With two pair I can switch between them. And, with wearing the compression socks? It just all seems to be working better.
Uhrm... Later.

Yeah, ouch and wow.
.
.
I am down to the whites in the dryer. Well, and putting up the coloreds that just finished. So much more was done than my list, including the stove-top. I'm not going to mess with the oven, even as a self-cleaning system, not with the glass broken on the inside. The outside piece is fine, I just don't trust those high cleaning temps with half the glass. I will limp through with a dirty(ish) oven compartment until the new one arrives. But the top really needed cleaned. Ugh.
The gloves I am using are okay, I just have to remember to drain water so as to not work too deep and get water inside. I added baking soda and talc so that my hands don't get stinky from the gloves. Seems to work... and my hands don't sweat even in hot water. I sure hope the ones I ordered are better, by fit and length anyway. I don't think they could improve too much elsewise.
I am pretty beat. But not in a bad or hard way. It's just that I will be ready for sleep when that time comes.
I did look through my finances. Tricky, those, sometimes. I think, think I say, all Christmas has been accounted. I think, think I say, everything I have bought has already shown up in my various statements. Some things aren't being delivered until later, but were purchased at a special, timely, discount period that is over. The only thing that might not be on that is one food order. Oh, and the appliances? I put $800 on my instore card. Which has been paid off for a bit. However, the last two months I have been paying in on that, to the tune of $300 a month... which means, the card part is nearly paid. The cash part, of course, is covered. If so, those items will be paid January when I pay in. Really? I think so. It's great to be a fiscal klutz in the right direction from time to time! I'm getting rich trying to give it away! :p
If true, and some other things are managed and it still looks good? I may buy a new television. This one isn't horrible, just... it's showing it's years. I probably won't go bigger. Hmm... before that, though, plumbing and a new sink faucet... if he thinks that is needed. Maybe he will find some other problem. Gah! Still, it's good to know I haven't, probably, blindsided myself financially. Though, we will see. You know how things can look good and then eat you. Well, I know anyway.
Good night.

I wasn't sure how much I would really get through. My list was... an exaggeration. And, yet, I did it and more. I think I have done eight loads of laundry? Something. Two more to finish, one in the dryer, one in the washing machine. Oh, and I still need to go through the two hampers. They had clean clothes in them, but were never dealt with. I will, most likely, wash them again. Each is only half full, so technically one load if they all fit. But when does THAT ever happen? I will sort them though.
More sorting, tossing, and cleaning has taken place. I tried a new tea tonight. YuCk! Some things should not be legal to sell. I just can't see how that was tea. It smelled of hay, was flattened like green straw, and was so absolutely bitter, even with no steeping. Bleh. Oh well. Only one way to know if a tea is any good. Though some teamongers have a good reputation and a strong history. Just, if there is nothing in English on it, don't buy it. This was Japanese, and still... Who knows though, it might just be low-rent Chinese for the poorer Japanese. They might not be allies, but regardless, they are kin. They might deny it, but it's true. Who screws who over the most, but kin? Orcs, of a more modern notion of those, and elves, some might suggest. Which is which is clear.
Yeah, I have time to go through the hampers, and I will finish the laundry tonight. That will be everything on my list, and some. I can't believe this. I really should be able to finish up everything this week, at this pace. If so, then I begin hitting small areas extra hard for the tiny details. That and figuring out some things, like getting a plumber in, and maybe some people to give a bit on the kitchen flooring. As well, I might start hitting the en suite bathroom. Yeah... it's possible. Wow.
Oh, and I am hardening up. Stomach, arms, legs... I might still have some girth, but I am rocking up anyway. Stone golem, boys and girls. I am, however, in this way, my own maker. Given the given that I am working with HIS material to start. I am doing well with it. Later or good night. Another salad? Sure. Later.
