Sleep helped.

.
.
A reset, to how I felt before tinkering with the bandage.  A bite to eat, coffee, water, to restart the day... into midafternoon.  Things still ache.  And most of what hurt before.  But all at a low rumble, and often all can be ignored.  Just noticed when something gets bumped, jostled, or flares up a bit.

A shower, sometime later?  I hope so.  But I'm not in a hurry.  Coffee, through the next hour or two.

It had been raining, before I got out of bed.  I didn't hear it.  A bit of a fevered dream state.  An actual fever?  Or just warmer, while healing?  I can't say with certainty.  It was about 38 out there.  Not bad.  And sunny, when I was able to check.  Pretty much clear, save on the the edges of the valley, up on the mountains.  An oddly pretty day.

Have you ever been hurting, and... notice that the world just looks different?  A few days, or weeks, of pain, and... I don't know.  Something seems strange.  On this particular day, with pain being mostly mitigated but still under and in everything, clarity was... incredible.  The droplets of rain still on things, the moisture on the grass, driveway, sideway?  It all seemed so very clear.  Like... on a high definition television, or pictures from the really powerful cameras.  Almost surreal.

I have to assume it is a side effect of the natural painkillers the body makes.  Especially after messing with the old wound this morning.  That hurts in almost magical ways.  It is strange how much peace can be found in pain.  If... usually, not quickly.  It takes a while.  And some sort of feverishness comes over.  But, as mentioned, whether an actual fever, or just some healing warmth, I can't say.  I should get a thermometer, check my temp when I get that.  Most likely not an actual fever, but... only one way to be certain.

Two weeks?  Three?  Since the big boom?  Not bad, though, really.  Most of the wounds are much smaller, save the one on the kneecap, over what remains of the goose-egg.  The body still feels pulled, contorted, stretched, and such.  But it is getting better.  A few new, lessor, damaged areas peeking out, but while they add to the total, and hurt solidly, they still don't hurt as bad as the initial damages.

Really?  I cam out of that pretty clean.  The wound on my forehead is gone.  There are gavel-ie wounds around the rest of my head, I must have rolled on it... twice, three times?  Minor bumps.  I think the tears have healed, strangely.  There were small, thin, scabs, here and there, about my skull, for a few weeks.

No, not bad.  And I can, usually, get up the steps without any fuss.  Every second or third day I have to take a bit more care.  Coming down them is almost always easy now, without thought or care mostly.

Really.  That could have killed me, probably should have broken things.  And if the bike had caught up with me, been on the correct vector, who knows.  I do remember looking back with trepidation as it whizzed by, but at a different heading.   Ending up four or five feet off and over?  Something.

I really am getting close to being repaired.  Even most of my roadrash is clearing off.  It's, really, the old wound that still hurts so much.  Oh, I'll give you some details...  It's about a silver dollar size hole, right down an half inch into my skin.  As if removed by a specialty medical tool.  Right down to raw meat.  It's... been that way for a year, or longer... longer.  Definitely longer.

My skin has become numb.  Mostly due to losing so much fat all at once.  It sounds good, but it's an... ugly thing.  Ninety pounds of fat gone, you'd... think I'd begin looking better.  Nope.  However, it makes it so that bruise doesn't hurt, never did.  Easy to put compression on it.  Can't feel from my higher waist down to my ankles, at the skin to sub-skin fat level.  The reason I can feel this, is it is down to the meat.  So... yeah.

Take what you can get.  Later.
